Voxox Expands Wholesale SMS Portfolio with Two-Way Toll-Free Texting Service

A trusted innovator of cloud communications solutions for business, Voxox has introduced yet another addition to their wholesale SMS portfolio: two-way toll-free texting service. Developed for SMS aggregators and service providers using high-volume SMS in both their products and applications, Voxox’s newest service comes on the heels of their SMS enhancements for Voxox Cloud Phone, the company's virtual PBX service that caters to small businesses.
In a release, the company said that its VP of Business Sales, Tad Nikolich, will lead the team in showcasing their new wholesale service (along with Voxox’s other range of solutions) at the Mobile World Congress 2017 held in Barcelona.
Two-Way SMS: Crucial to Business Communications
In today’s mobile age, texting has become one of the most powerful ways for businesses to engage and interact with customers. According to Kevin Hertz, CTO and co-founder of Voxox, "A growing number of business patrons prefer to text rather than call companies on the phone, so not offering SMS as a means to interact with these customers creates an unnecessary barrier for effective business communications.”
"With the potentially immense cost-savings that two-way text messaging can offer businesses, we wanted to ensure that our extremely competitive wholesale SMS rates can be used for both local and toll-free business phone numbers. We are excited to close the loop on this with today's announcement,” Hertz added.
Offered through a web service API, Voxox wholesale SMS solutions let customers integrate inbound and outbound SMS to their software solutions, applications, services, or websites.
Corey Hertz, Director of Wholesale Products at Voxox, said the company supports industry standard SMS protocols (REST/HTTP and SMPP). “REST/HTTP may sound familiar because it's actually sent using that same 'http' tag you see in your web browser. This is great for midsize customers that don't require large burst volume messaging. SMPP is great for very large corporations that may require high-volume bulk messaging. The API is more comprehensive than the REST API, but also more complex,” he said.
Why Large Businesses Need SMS
Businesses that operate on a smaller scale are not the only ones that can benefit from Voxox’ text messaging feature. Even large businesses can reap the benefits of SMS. Aside from the cost-savings offered by two-way messaging, SMS also enables customers and companies to communicate quickly, efficiently, and securely. Here’s why:
Less intrusive. Corey believes SMS is a highly convenient communications tool because it allows two-way communication using one’s native phone technology without having to get on a call. “It's also less intrusive as it allows customers to request information and companies to send information in a much less time-consuming and invasive way,” he added. This echoes the findings of the survey by Ovum, an independent analyst and consultancy firm, which reveals that nearly half (44%) of the respondents said SMS was their preferred mode of communication when connecting with a company’s customer service department because it was less time-consuming.
- Quick dissemination of information. Companies that need to send updates or notifications to its users can also leverage SMS to deliver crucial information quickly. Kevin noted that “SMS enables companies to provide customers with a quick way to get support or general information. Some companies even build their entire business around the use of SMS.”
- Easy authentication. Large businesses (such as financial institutions) can also use SMS for two-factor authentication to verify user identities and secure critical account information. An example of this would be when a user requests a password reset for their account. In order to complete the transaction, the user must check and enter the code sent to their phone number via SMS.
While voice continues to be an important communication channel for businesses, SMS is quickly gaining popularity because of its simplicity and speed. Hence, adding SMS into the mix of business communication tools definitely makes sense, both for smaller businesses and larger more established enterprises.
