Allworx Launches New Line of Mobile-First Business Phones for SMBs

As smartphones today play an increasingly important role for business communications thanks to their ability to communicate from anywhere, traditional office telephones have slowly started to lose their appeal. However, one company is looking to reinvent business phone systems to address the needs of today’s mobile, modern workers. Windstream Holdings subsidiary Allworx Corp. introduced Allworx Verge this week, a new class of mobile-first business phones designed for small to mid-sized businesses.
In addition to Allworx Verge, the company also launched System Software version 8.2, Allworx Reach™ version 3.0 (for iOS and Android) and Allworx Interact™ Professional version 3.0 to support the latest mobility integration features available with its new class of phones.
Business Phone Systems Reinvented
While traditional desk phones are still present in some offices, a new survey reveals the growing reliance of workers on their smartphones, instead of their traditional desk phones, when making voice calls. The report, which surveyed 486 U.S. workers with access to both a dedicated work desk phone and a smartphone, revealed that only one in two workers regularly use their desk phones for voice calls. Meanwhile, one in three chooses their smartphones to make voice calls even with easy access a desk phone. And one in three says they have no qualms about getting rid of their work desk phones entirely.
David Plakosh, CTO and General Manager of Allworx, says, “This survey validates the growing trend we’ve been seeing over the past few years – that business users are trading off the business phone features and high audio quality of their work desk phones for the convenience of their smartphones.” “But our industry has been lagging in bridging this usability gap between desk phones and smartphones. With Verge, we are reinventing the business phone system to seamlessly integrate with mobile devices in ways that have never been done before,” he added.
The Verge IP Phone Family
Allworx Verge proves to be an excellent solution to address the demands of SMBs for a more flexible and connected business phone system. In fact, many are impressed with it.
Rob Arnold, Principal Analyst at Frost & Sullivan, praised the new line of phones from Allworx, saying:
“We are very impressed with Allworx Verge because the ways in which it addresses the mobility integration are technically novel, yet deceptively simple to use for the end-users.” “We also like that Allworx can offer these enterprise-grade mobility features at an affordable price point for small- and medium-sized businesses. In fact, Allworx was the winner of the 2016 Frost & Sullivan Customer Value Leadership Award because of its leading price/performance value, among other benefits,” Arnold said.
The Verge IP phone line includes the following:
- Verge 9312
- Verge 9308
- Verge 9318Ex Expander
Below are the key mobility integration features of the line:
- Sync contacts across mobile devices (via Reach mobile app), MS Outlook (via Interact Professional app), and Verge IP phones in real time
- Move between devices with instant handoff of active calls
- Control your Verge IP phone using your mobile device (via Reach mobile app)
- Bluetooth mobile call appearance (feature available on the Verge 9312 model only)
For workers constantly on the go, the Reach mobile app is the perfect tool to take and manage business communications wherever you go as it brings the rich functionalities of the Verge IP phones to iOS and Android mobile devices. The Interact Professional application, meanwhile, fuses the convenience of a PC-based call management system with the HD audio quality of Verge IP phones. It’s perfect for sales professionals, front desk staff, and customer support representatives.
