Spotlight Provider of the Week: nexVortex
nexVortex is an award-winning privately held IP-communications company based out of the Virginia area. nexVortex offers all kinds of IP services, but focuses mainly on SIP trunking. A SIP trunk is a business VOIP phone service that connects the office PBX to the public telephone network. This allows users to place and receive calls over the internet at significantly lower costs.
The company was founded in 2002, when SIP trunking was still in its infancy. The team at nexVortex knew that SIP trunking was the future of business communications, and took a chance in founding their company when they did. It wasn’t easy launching a SIP trunking company in such a young market, but they were firm believers in the technology, and opened nexVortex for business three years later in 2005.
Nearly a decade from its beginning, nexVortex has won multiple awards, including the TMC award for a SIP service provider in 2005 and Channel Partner’s Top 50 Channel Programs. They have also made the Inc. 5000 list two times.
A Leader in SIP Trunk Technology
SIP trunking has come a long way since those early days. As stated by Chief Operating Officer and Founder Wes Rogers, “the conversation in 2005 was all about simply connecting a call and pricing was a close second. Now the expectations are much higher. Today, the conversation is about quality, reliability, customer service, features and of course, price. There’s also a lot more government and industry regulations. So as the definition of a SIP provider has evolved,we’ve had to grow. Central to that is our commitment to delivering uncommon service. We don’t want to just answer their questions, we want to amaze them with exceptional customer support.”
nexVortex helps small and medium-sized businesses in all different industries improve their communications. nexVortex knows that many businesses are new to SIP trunking technology and they are ready to assist. To underscore this, all of their technicians are required to attend the SIP school and become certified on the SIP protocol.
nexVortex believes in empowering the user. nexVortex has developed a power web portal that allows end users and partners to manage almost every aspect of the service in real time. Still, if users have any questions about their SIP trunks, nexVortex is there to help.
“To be successful, not only do you need the right features and price, but you also need to spend a lot of energy talking about and focusing on high quality service”, said Rogers. Rogers and his partner worked on VoIP technology when they worked together at Cisco, and saw the great potential in VoIP. nexVortex was a big risk in 2005, but it continues to thrive and lead the way in SIP trunking service.

Upcoming Features
Recently, nexVortex has been focusing their development resources on the toll free segment. They are their own Resporg and can provide enhanced routing and features. They have also developed a suite of enhanced reporting tools that all end users can use to mine their call details and track performance. Additional call center services and features are in the works for later this year.
nexVortex’s success comes from a few different things: their thorough understanding about SIP technology, their solid partnerships with manufacturers, their excellent customer service, and their innate drive to be the very best business SIP provider on the market.
nexVortex is a company about today and about the future. One day nexVortex would like to take part to create a global IP infrastructure that will allow all wireless or wired endpoints to connect to any type of media like voice, video, web, and text. It can certainly happen. nexVortex was once a pioneer in the SIP trunk market and now they are an award-winning leader in the IP world that businesses can trust.
