It's a bargain basement provider. If that's all you're looking to get, and you manage your expectations, you'll be satisfied until you need support's assistance. Support is responsive, just not constructive. The number porting team (I was porting a number in) was one of the most inept, argumentative, belligerent groups I've dealt with professionally - and I was porting numbers in! Now I'm stuck in an intermediary stage where some of my numbers have been ported but not others, and the support reps keep attributing the intransigence to their own carriers. Just know that voip.ms is nothing more than a reseller. They seemingly have no influence over their carriers and the carriers themselves are bargain basement. If phone service is important to you or business critical - you have no choice but to stay away.

Cheap, basic service. No frills.
The customer and technical support is horrific.

I needed to call a US embassy this week. INTL calls are blocked on all accounts until you submit your ID to their online form. Form says they'll unlock INTL calls within 24 hours. That was Thursday. Still ignored through Wednesday, I had to go into chat but INTL calls were now clearly unlocked to make INTL calls. When I went to make the call, their servers were not configured to allow service. I'm not a novice at SIP clients and following their setup guides. The problem really was they hadn't configured routing correctly on their server. I informed them and they blamed the inbuilt Android SIP client and asked I used Zoiper. Same problem with Zoiper because they hadn't setup the routes in their server. I even sent them a screen recording and screenshots making it all unmistakable the problem was on their end. A day later, without apologizing for not acknowledging the problem was on their end and wasting a bunch of my time, they messaged back "it's possible to enable the routes to your account for the destination you've reported, however, please note that calls to this destination will have a rate of $0.34" That's interesting because their call rate sheet advertised $0.06. I say go ahead and do it because I don't expect them to lose money and I just want it working finally. They promise they've "enabled the routes." Another day later, nope, yet again they failed to actually do it. I inform them. The say they'll fix it. Another day later I try a final time. Nope still not fixed. I sign up for Google Voice which works immediately and just say they handled fixing it exceedingly poor. Their response...not an apology but suggesting I was using the incorrect dial codes which was demonstrably wrong given our correspondence and the screen recording I'd sent them.

I have been using Voip.ms for over 6 years and transitioned to them slowly to ensure that we had no problems. We are now running 12 lines and have had virtually zero down time over the last 24 months. As I am a bit of a tinkerer and tweaker with ATAs, I have had a few minor glitches - mainly self inflicted - which the boys in customer service were ready, willing and able to help cure. I have NEVER had a problem with customer service. It is important to realize that they know THEIR system inside and out - and can often assist with basic info on the ATAs and other client owned equipment - but that is NOT their job. VOIP by itself is a tricky thing to play with. The basic features of VOIP.ms are typically not to hard to master. And they add feature after feature as they continue to develop their products. I had used 2 other VOIP services before deciding on VOIP.ms - and neither came even close to the quality and service that VOIP.ms has provided. I have had contact with probably all their customer service reps to help me through the changes that I have made (and sometimes messed up), and have never had even a mediocre experience. It has always bee FIRST CLASS!

Virtually zero down time. Excellent customer service. Crazy low rates. Continually upgrading their services....
None that I can think of (other then the fact that they bill in $US (we are located in Canada)

Really surprised by the many negatives. I have 2 accouts: home office with 3
DID and 2 phones + zoiper, and residential with 1 ATA + zoiper. I'm with
them since so long I don't remember. 10 years maybe ! I was with Primus,
then Bell VOIP (yes that existed at some point in time), both was horrible,
and line quality was just non-quality for business. Voip.ms gives me what I
need, lots of feature, excellent audio quality. On the residential line, my
family just don't know we are not on a "real" line, they don't see the
difference. But I see it, much less pricey than Bell. For $25 I can make
calls for months ! I recommend Voip.ms.

Excellent audio quality, Lots of features, no need to host a VoIP PBX anymore, all we need is there. They add features from time to time, like 2FA and TOTP just added this month. Recording last month, and so on. ATA and SIP Phones lose connectivity from time to time and reconnect, without reasons. I have 300MBPS fiber, so internet speed is not the reason...
Web site needs to be revamped, there is so much options on so many pages, it's not really confusing, but it can be more "simple". The site is built brick on brick. A good restart is needed.

Very satisfied!

I read a few reviews on here before posting this, and must admit, this service is oriented for technical people. If you expect everything working out of the box and hand-delivered to you, this will not work. But if you (or you pay someone to) put in a little time to setup your phone configurations, then you can enjoy CHEAP phone communications, and RELIABLE. Example: configuring the server address, setting the reconnect time to 5 minutes, etc. Support will not hand-hold you to configure you device, but they have explanatory screenshots and are helpful over chat. Overall, I've been using VoIP.ms for 5 years and would recommend them.

Voip.ms service is of a very low quality due to never ending problems with termination and connection to DIDs within the USA and overseas. But the worst is the customer service. If you encounter a connection problem after hours there is nobody to fix it. If you call them during the day, they will refuse to help you over the phone and send you to an online portal. Also, looks like everybody in the customer service department speaks broken English and has last name Martinez or Gonzales, which makes me think they offloaded support to Latin America. This in itself wouldn't be a problem if they knew what they are doing, but they are truly an incompetent bunch. What's worse, if you ask to talk to a supervisor or director of customer service, you will never reach them as the customer support will make every effort to block you from reaching a supervisor. Obviously company managers don't give a fu%k about the clients, and customer support running without a supervision has the same attitude towards the client. My company used them for a while but due to endless problems with their service we switched to other SIP providers.

I'm super happy with VoIP.ms, had have service for 5 years. Though the setup was a bit difficult, once you're all set up, it's really easy to use! Read: works like a normal phone! For example, you need to configure the server address, session refresh time, etc (a few things), which VoIP.ms staff was very helpful with. They have helpful instructions with screenshots to guide you thru all this setup. If you're stuck, just live chat with them. Reliability has been excellent. Never went down, and we have over 20 numbers, 50 people using the system every workday! Also, get $10 account credit here: https://VoIPmsReferral.com For prices I believe they are competitive in the market. Bell would charge like 10 times this much. Enjoy them! Canadian company too!

Reliable Affordable Many features Many rate centers accross USA Canada Free DID port-in (this is new in 2020!)
Setup can be a bit difficult. If you're technical it's ok. If not, just get a techy friend to help out! Not the cheapest DID rate (Anveo is cheaper)

excellent features, great user interface, I had made an error configuring my
device and tech support live chat help me resolve the problem quickly and
professionally. Highly recommend Voip.ms. Been with PhonePower for 10 years
but started to have problems, been waiting almost 2 weeks for resolution
which requires a replacement ATA that I have not received yet. That was my
reason for switching to Voip.ms. = 5 stars!

Have phone support as support with this company is only done through email or a chat system and you never receive a fix for the issue, they only want to point you to a document that is outdated. Offer features that are requited on all business VOIP systems such as Call Park. When a call comes in you cannot park a call so another phone can pick up the call.

I am not usually writing reviews, but the last reviews I read about this company, almost make me go see others without even trying. First, you won't find anything as cheap as their prices, I am actually asking myself how they're making money. Call quality are really good, nothing to say about it. And service is A1++. I don't know why people are complaining about their technical support. Just click on the chat button on top of the page and there is someone with you within seconds (don't know at night or week thought). Plus, I have rarely seen a support chat with agent that knows the system as much as this... My guess is that they are the programmers... So, Cheap, cheap, cheap, good quality and good service. You don't believe me? I have set up my entire system (digital receptionist, sub accounts (Extension), Voicemails, etc.) in one day for around 5$, try it yourself. The longest part was to find myself a Softphone App that works well. I will save you time if you're looking for an android app : Linphone. It's entirely free and open source. I would give them a chance on any other device (mac, windows, ios) as they have an app for each. Don't thank me, thanks VoIP.ms and Linphone.

super cheap, super good service, good quality
Can't think of anything but I haven't used the service for a long time yet.

The Skinny

Founded in 2007, VoIP.ms was built by a group of IT and business professionals who believed there was a better way to bring Internet phone services to companies who, like them, had a desire for high-caliber communications solutions.

Being strictly Bring-Your-Own-Device, VoIP.ms does away with the limitations and costly hand-holding that come along with some telephony providers. This allows us to give unlimited focus to maintaining a widely accessible and feature-rich service.

With offices in Canada, and Mexico, and access points across the globe, VoIP.ms has developed into a truly international business that serves over 80,000 clients, worldwide.

Our Two Cents

It’s no surprise why VoIP.ms is beloved within the community by residential, small businesses and large enterprises. With such flexibility and features being released on a regular basis, they most likely have what you are needing. Additionally, they are a B.Y.O.B (Bring Your Own Device) company. That means that they support the vast majority of devices, applications and servers compatible with VoIP and thus, furthermore providing this feeling of doing what you wish to without being forced into a device or an application.

Whether you are looking for a solution at home, on your mobile or at work, VoIP.ms covers it all, and it’s incredibly affordable!
