First of all, I was planning to write a good review on this company once my number gets ported. However, the following incidence totally changed my view on this company. I sent an e-mail to Vonics' customer service inquiring when my port would be completed since it had been 19 days since I requested a number port. I got an e-mail reply back from a very rude CSR saying it would take 4 weeks and he or she (who did not leave a name) indicated that they were doing me a favor in porting my number as they are not required to do it. Prior to this encounter, I've had no problem with their customer service. Everyone should think twice before signing up with this company. I would have canceled my service if I wasn't over their 14 days money back warranty period. Here is part of his/her e-mail reply to me form copy/paste:
"We will contact you as soon as your telephone number is ported to our network. Just for
the records, the number portability law of 2003 is for CELLPHONES, which by the ways states that a number MUST be transferred but not how long it is supposed to take."
In a word, this was what the CSR was saying: Vonics is under no obligation to port your number and if you beg them, they will do it as a favor.

I sign up with Vonics after being a former Sunrocket customer. I paid $218.05 for the annual fee and then canceled them a couple days later after I heard some other people having problems with Vonics. I found out that one of their head quarters is in Pakistan with the Address Vonics Pakistan
A - 75 Sindh Muslim Society
Hyderabad
Sindh 7100
I asked them if this was Muslim owned and the guy got upset for me asking him that and he said if you have a problem with that you should go to another company. I would not be surprise if this phone company is a front for supporting terrism. They cancel my account right away, and they said they would refund my money with in a week or two. Well it has been over a month and I have not receive my money yet. I called them numerous times, left messages after message, emails after emails nothing yet. No return calls, only automatic generated emails. Contacted the same girl over again in the Philippines and she said that there is nothing that she could do except give me a ticket number and send a email to billing department. Nothing resolved yet. I am considering getting hold of the Attorney General in California to see if he can get this resolved and or take trip to their Vonics Office in San Francisco, CA to get my money back that is if they truly have a office in San Francisco, CA.
Signed up for their service and after that....I cannot get anyone on the phone or to respond to e-mail...I am out of service (their adapter does not work) and lost my phone number.
I am going to move away from them and cancel my service and dispute all bills.
It's been 5 weeks after I paid $218, 4 weeks since I received the router. Connected, no dial tone, grave yard silence. Several dozens of voice massages and e-mails. The response was few idiotic e-mails telling me to connect my phone line to the router!!??
No customer service exist or technical support. No phone for 4 weeks and counting...
So far it's been a nightmarish experience.
The only service I got so far is, they took my money and gave me nothing in return.
We ordered Vonics Digital service with a new phone number. They gave us a phone number in a town 25 miles away - making it a long distance call for our friends to call us. We called and said we wanted a local number. They said we'd have one by Friday. A month and several emails later and we still didn't have a local number. We emailed to ask about returning the adapter and they said we could. It has now been over a month and we still haven't received our refund.
Signed up after the demise of SunRocket. Device arrived within 5 days and worked out of the box. Was not assigned a number while my original number was being ported(was able to make outgoing calls). Got a temp number after 2 weeks and called after 3 about my port. Could not get someone on the phone. Finally after 3 days of trying got someone on the phone and the number was ported as I talked to him. Have now had the service for 1.5 months and the service has been solid. 1200 minutes since my number was ported and no voice issues at all. Had to install a firmware update and disable spi firewall on Netgear router to get voice mail notifications but other than that the service has been great. For the price the initial headaches are acceptable to me.
The website is a little clunky compared to the redesigned SR site but not a deal breaker for me.
As a lot of people here, I'm having problems with Vonics:
-First the adapter they sent me (linksys) was not configured, so it wouldn't work until after many many calls and emails, I got someone to give me a call and change some settings on the adapter.
After that, adapter was working, really good quality of calls, but then...
-A lot of times when calling from the adpater, the other party couldn't hear anything! not noise: nothing, total silence...but, I could hear everything! this only happens with outbound calls..I haven't experienced this with inbound calls..
-Now when I call the number, I get a message "the number you are trying to reach has been disconnected or is not longer in service"...pathetic, and very, very annoying...
Of course, and like everybody else, my main complain is their customer support: nobody answers the phone..nobody returns emails, I only get some feedback when opening a ticket, and this is sporadic, sometimes not even tickets work...the last 2 problems I'm still dealing with, since I haven't received any response from them...their tech support knowledgebase is ridiculous..non existent..browse it: https://support.vonics.net/support-center/
There's nothing there, plus is mixed with some mobile service they have somewhere...
I signed up with Vonics in June '07 (transferred from Vonage really) and foolish enough to pay an annual fee of $218.05. Had trouble from the beginning. I can only get connected to selected US numbers. Basically I was restricted to local numbers. I was never able to call Canada numbers which was one of the primary reasons for signing up. Transferring the number from Vonage took for ever more than 4-6 weeks they had promised. Things got worse after the nuber transfer (my transferred Vonics number was 317 248 1511, I am inserting this number incase someone from Vonics reads this and can call me back to resolve the issue). Tried calling customer service and was rarley got a person to talk. When I did they just initiated a ticket and that's the end of it. I have also initiated a complaint with BBB (Better Business Bureau) to have my money refunded or provide the promised service. Will see how this goes.
This company is another SunRocket ready to close. I have not been able to contact Customer Service in almost a month. There is no response to email or phone messages. Their written excuse is that they are signing up as many SunRocket customers as possible, while ignoring their existing customers with poor service. They admit they cannot service their existing customers while they are signing up old Sunrocket customers. Would Verizon do this? No. WOuld AT&T do this? No. Would SPrint do this? No. Only an unregulated company can get away with this. This is a totally unprofessional company.
