You don't want this service - trust me. Reliability is zero. Line quality varies from fair to awful. Incoming callers are often told your line os out of service or sent to Vonics voicemail, even if it's not activated. Call customer service and a nice Pakistani CSR will patiently expalin that they are having a bad day... again.
All of the positve reviews below are spam from company shills. Save yourself some serious aggravation and steer well clearly of these pretenders.

First, read the positive reviews.
Note, they are almost all fake. They are coming from Vonics emloyees, judjing by the style they are written in. The fact is that they have had no customer service for aproximately 2 months, between July and September. They could not be reached AT ALL. I'm sure it was due to the sunrocketer overflow.
On numerous occasions in that time frame, their service was down. Either there was no dial tone or calls would not go through after numerous attampts. About two week ago, there was no dial tone for aproximately 2 days. When making international calls, there is a constant echo of the caller's voice.
Note also, the people that re making negative reviews are NOT competitors as the fake reviewers want you to think, they are for the most part genuine users. vonics is not much of a competitor right now.

I do understand your disappointment Jeff, because I went through the same dilemma, however, if you look at it from a different point of view, you will know that Vonics went back to normal. I’ve signed up with Vonics at the end of July, and it took a while to get my device, moreover, it has taken ages to get my previous telephone number ported as promised as well. To be honest, I never faxed them a Letter of Authorization. Therefore, I’m writing this review to apologize to all Representatives at Vonics, for all my inappropriate language usage. I was just awfully upset, for I couldn’t even reach a lively person over the phone. BUT nowadays, I can call whenever I wish for, and the service is exceptional.

I have been using this service for 3 months now.
they are very bad at service and reliablity, you can open a case and they close it without even notifying you what they did if any.
E911 does not work, service goes out if you talk for more than 30 minutes.
It is a switch time, this is a bad company. Stay away.

I've been with Vonics now for about 4 months, and haven't had one problem. Sound quality is very good and no down time. This is my 3rd VOIP supplier, and so far the best.

Good price and good service
None so far.

We have had nothing but problems since subscribing to vonics. It's not reliable. Problems related to ability to make and receive calls come and go unpredictably. Customer service is nearly non-existant: I will never get someone on the phone. When I leave a message it is never returned. When I send and email it is returned a week later with an unhelpful response like, "are you still having problems?"
The voicemail feature doesn't work for us either, and we need to use our phone answering machine.
I urge people to look for other options than Vonics. I have no experience with any other providers, and can't speak to them, but regular land lines are so much better than this garbage I've paid $20 a month for.

When I first signed up (sunrocket user) I didn't have a phone for 3-4 weeks. No customer support. Now I check my phone every morning and when I get home from work to see if it is working. I am constantly unplugging and replugging in connections to start it back up. It also interfers with my internet connection and knocks that out about once a week as well, making me unplug connections and replug those back in. And the caller ID is more like number ID so you have to know the phone numbers of the people you don't want to talk to...not real convient. Customer support when you get it is canned response. Sound quality is great.

I've had Vonics for about 4 months. It took over two months to port two phone numbers over. The customer support frequently provides misinformation regarding how long services will take: the porting, the length of time to get a Vonics box etc. The website does not provide detailed help information for many features. For example, though the voicemail system is full of features, few of them are defined. The user has the option of saving messages into various categories, though this is never explained: categories such as work, family, friends. No definition is given for what a message envelope is. Trial and error will reveal this to the user. One wishes, since there is a categorical way to sort messages that callers could simply affix the label onto the message. The quantity of phone rings that occurs before the voice mail picks up should be an end user feature or part of the customization, yet this is not part of the features a user can touch---yet one can turn call waiting on and off. The time for customer service to pick up calls is slow. Sometimes one is instructed to leave a voice message. In four months I've never received one return phone call. I had some email returned by customer support. One actually had a very rude tone.

Lots of potential.
Customer service and usability need to be greatly integrated. Documentation and even this website need great enhancement

Hello
Avoid VONICS, if you are having problems like I am, contact the Bay Area BBB at 866-411-2221, they may ask you to also contact the San Francisco District Attorney.

Switched to VONICS when SUN ROCKET went down. VONICS offer included porting my SR numbers (primary and virtual for diff. area code). Faxed my Letter of Authorization, but never received email confirmation. Could NOT get Cus. Service to respond to emails or phone calls to check on number transfers. Service was unreliable; friends and family complained that they could not reach us when we were at home. WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE that I have experienced. NOBODY IS MINDING THE STORE! AVOID VONICS.

Nice OFFER
NO CUSTOMER SERVICE at all.
