Voipgo Reviews

Voipgo offers residential calling plans starting at $7.95 a month so that you can save money on your home telephone system.

Voipgo Unlimited Monthly

Voipgo’s unlimited monthly plan is great for the commitment-phobe. For $17.95 a month, you get unlimited incoming and outgoing calls to the US and Canada. There’s no contract, just a regular monthly charge - and you even get one month free. All 18 features offered by Voipgo are also included with this plan.

Voipgo Unlimited Yearly

For those who want to save a little bit (and don’t mind a contract), Voipgo’s annual plan is a good choice. For one year of service, you pay $149.95 per year- that’s $12.49 a month. With this plan, you get everything you’d get with the unlimited monthly plan, but for a cheaper price. Sometimes, it pays to commit.

Voipgo Incoming

Voipgo’s incoming calling plan allows you only to receive calls - you can’t make calls. With this plan, you do not receive one month free, nor do you receive all 18 features: only 12.

Bottom line

The best plan for your money is Voipgo’s annual plan: it combines the most features with the most cost savings.

All of these plans include one local phone number and you can bring your own device. None of these plans require an activation fee or a cancellation fee. Setup is also free. If you want a virtual number, it costs an addition $3.95 a month.

If you are considering Viopgo I would stay away. I have been in a state of limbo since opening an account with them over 3 months ago. I have tried to do a number port. Initally I was told that it would take about 2 weeks. My area code was unavaliable to port. They told me to call back in two weeks and I should be able to do it. I did so, they said yes I can port. I asked them to send me the required forms. Never recieved anything. Live chat a week later got me the forms. From that point on things went completely south. I submitted the port request. This was about 7/30/07. Called back about a week later to make sure they have everything they needed. Can't get anyone on the phone. Tried the next day, again no answer. sat on hold 2 hours and was disconnected. tried live support, no answer. Ok now i am getting frustrated. The website clearly states 24/7 support! I finally get someone on live support about 8/25/07. I had tried at least 6 times on the phone, and not once was i able to get through to anyone. When i finally got the guy on 8/2507 he says he can't answer my question as to when the number will be ported. OK i can be patient here but the last guy told me two weeks and it has been over 3 weeks since i sent the form can you give me any indication as to how far along in the process i am? Sorry I can't answer. He goes on to say that if he tries to call the phone company to check he will be on hold for mabye 2 hours. OK I say well can you tell me why that is? he says they are flooded with new sunrocket customers and that ports are taking about 37 days. OK now I am getting some info! If it is 37 days then so be it. I can appreciate that they are busy and may be flooded with calls. I can also appreciate that they are dealing with porting a number away from another company and thus removing revenue from them, so that company may not be all that coopertive. I ask what day they submitted my paperwork. He tells me 8/14/07. OK so my paperwork sat around for 2 weeks before it made it into the que. So I ask If that is the case then I can expect to see my number ported on or about 9/20/07 right? He says yes it should be by then. Now I sit back and wait patiently. OK fast forward to 9/22/07 my wife is getting pretty pissed that nothing is happening so i try to call voipgo. No answer no message. just a black hole when i chose my selection. I try this several times that night still nothing. I try live support. Nobody comes on. Next day I try phone calls, live support and an email. No response to anything. repeat the next day. and the next. I have opened an emergency ticket. no response and it was closed. I open a high priority ticket on 9/27/07. no response. nobody even appears to have looked at it. I sat on hold in the support department for over 5 hours on 3 different calls yesterday. Disconnected twice and finally hung up. Tried to call billing to discuss. no answer. emailed billing. no answer. Now i am over 45 days since my port was requested. All I want is some info! and email will suffice. Anything really!
Now i am in limbo. If I cancel this account my number will probably port the next day, and I will lose the number I am trying to keep. If you are considering this company look elsewhere. I went with this company based on the strength of reviews about thier customer service. Those were a complete falsification or something drastic has changed. Customer Service is basically non existant at this company. If you ever need them your on your own! BEWARE!!!!!

Voipgo is a nightmare don't sign up!!! I had nothing  but problems with them since I sign up.No customer service hardly any, you can't a hold of no one. I sent numerous e-mails telling them my problems I only get an e-mail acknowledging someone will look into it and they never do. My phone line has gone down serveral times. Can't get a whole of nobody. I'm definetely shopping around for another company. I was with primus before and they were good eccept the price and the started charging for detailed billing and that is when problems began. I am not racist but I don't like dealing with people from India they are the ruddest and most condesending people on the phone I ever met. This was another seller feature for me voipgo "says they have inhouse support never got any DONT SIGN WITH THIS PEOPLE YOU WILL REGRET IT!

This company is NOT to be trusted with your business. Currently their site is down.
I signed up for service with them on August 17th, 2007. The site used to clearly say accounts were activated within 24 hours, but my service wasn't activated until August 21st, 5 days later, and only after several support tickets were opened.
With my new service request I also submitted an LPN from my previous provider, Telasip. I've had the same number through 4 number ports (Vonage, Sunrocket, Packet8, Telasip) and never had one issue with porting (except sometimes a lengthy porting timeframe). One day it would be with Sunrocket, the next Packet8. No downtime at all.
Well on September 3rd the number I ported stopped working. No notice from VoipGo about the impending transfer. I called VoipGo's "customer service" number and every menu option I selected just hung up on me, even pushing 0 for operator. I logged on to their service portal and got some guy who said my old provider used some small company to do LPNs and it was their fault. I called Telasip and was told that the number had been ported away and it wasn't with their provider anymore.
I tried calling VoipGo again with the same result as before. I logged on to their service portal again and got the same guy who said it could be up to 5 days before an LPN was completed and that the number would be down until it was finished. W T F? As I stated before, I've done this many, many times and never once has the number just disappeared and, when called, gives a disconnected recording.
On September 12th, nearly two weeks after my number had just disappeared, I tried getting in touch with VoipGo again. The customer service number left me in a hold queue for half an hour before i hung up.
Their customer service portal did the same thing. While the application said live support was available, I waited nearly 45 minutes for someone to come online. Then after waiting that whole time a message pops up that said support was offline.
I tried three times during the day with the same result.
I also submitted two trouble tickets, one of which was classified on their system as an EMERGENCY RESPONSE TICKET. Four days later I have yet to receive any type of acknowledgment of the "EMERGENCY".
Stay away from this company if you ever want your service to work.

None whatsoever.

Features don't work. Suddenly your service stops working and there is noone who would respond when that happens. Good luck with reaching them over the phone or at online chat.

Had it for a couple of weeks.  If I knew then what I know now I'd never have wasted my money.  As soon as my term expires I'll be switching.  Absolutely no service.  I can't believe they take my money and don't return e-mails, OK once in 3 weeks.  Chat never works as with their call centre.  I really don't think there is anyone at the other end of the line.  Or my suspicion is that they are having financial problems and are laying off staff.  Otherwise how do you explain it?  Finally got a friend to configure the ATA and get it working.  Not plug and play as they imply.  No help on ordering the Virtual number so not sure what to do about that.  Have gone over and over their instructions which are vague and no help there for configuring anything.  Downloaded the softphone and must have gotten the wrong one because it fried my wireless.  Computer is now in for service new motherboard.  They had a direct link from their website with no options for MAC vs PC.  Must have gotten the wrong softphone, but they should have provided clear options.
Don't waste your money.  The frustration isn't worth the savings.  You think Bell and Rogers has bad service these guys are 100 times worse.  They shouldn't be allowed to be in business.

Price.

I was skeptical with the comments but when I called originally, Voipgo picked up after 30 minutes of hold, I figured whatever it's cheap. after 15 hours of being on the phone and somehow being mysteriously disconnected everytime I start talking with an online rep i've had it. almost 2 months in and it's not worth it. Use skype or something for your outcalls and youll save way more money (its free). Incoming calls on voipgo work, phone rings and you can pick up, but for some reason the voicemail is someone elses, honestly this is 1! Cant retrieve your messages. Also the incoming number is not local..im in vancouver. i asked to port my number it hasnt happened yet. today I called my cell provider to make sure they dont do the port. Im very honest when I say i have held the phone on hold trying to reach them (voipgo) and the phone has sat on hold for a total of about 15 hours. Ive sent them 4 emails with the online ticket number and everything, it doesnt work! I called my credit card company to stop paiement and thank goodness I did, i have 60 days to claim fraud, I havent got anything I paid for with them, (read terms of service). Dont use them,  you'll get messed around and will have a head ache...trust me, i dont care about hold as long as I get an email, a call, anything not happening. STAY AWAY! Huge hassle, I signed up to this site just to share this knowledge. pls dont make the same mistake.

After using the service for a couple of month, and being geenrally unimpressed with call quality (line noise, dropped packets, etc) I decided to cancel. There was no problem cancelling, or at least it seemed that way. Well over a month after cancelling, my credit card was charged for monthly service. The real kicker was that the amount charged was a coupld of dollars more than the original monthly fee, and there were 2 (yes, double) charges rather than just one!
Surely a mistake, I told myself, which is what the first Voipgo rep I contacted claimed. I waited for their inquiry to be comeplted, then contacted them a second time. This time, they claimed that there was no customer record in their system for me at all. Then after more back and forth, they claimed that they had sorted the issue out and would credit my account (remember, the account they claimed didn't exist). Oops! After pointing this out to them, they stated that "a cheque was in the mail". I waited and waited....no cheque.
After a few weeks, I contacted them to get a status on the cheque, which was when they indicated that I would be forwarded to their accounts manager. He claimed that the cheque was sent, but due to an error on their part, it never made it to the destination. Then came another blunder - he asked me for the exact amount that was owing to me!
Since that last contact, I have sent at least a half dozen messages, all of which have gone unanswered. I've written off the ~ $45 charges and have contacted the credit card company. I hope that this note will save someof you the grief I experienced, cause anyone considering using Voipgo to take a closer look, as well as keep current users aware.

Hi,

I have been using Voip service (not VOIPgo) since May 2007 and was quite satisfied with the service and never had any issues but when looked at the rates of VOIPGO I decided to switch to VOIDGO on July 15, 2008 and since then there is no single day has passed when I have not encountered a problem.
1. There is a service outage daily from 2.00am to 4.00 am without any notice to the subscribers. They are claiming that inorder to bring the new panel they are upgrading...but no one is willing to give an exact date...and am not sure since when this is happening.
2. Customer service is worst worst worst I ever encountered. You will be lucky if you get hold of some agent within first 45 minutes...ONLINE chat is sometimes ON while OFF most of the time.
3. My number on others CID is showing a different number from different are code.
4. Email response is also not fast.
5. I opted for the device to be taken from them and recieved after 15 days and that when I sent multiple emails.
6. They claim that if you sign online they will call in next 24 hours to verify but I recieved no call from them and then they skipped the process in my case.
7. I will be cacelling the service today (August 11, 2008) within the 30 days period to get all my refunds.

8. I would suggest not to opt for this VOIDGO but go for some other.

thanks,

DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THIS COMPANY'S SERVICE!  Dealing with them is like going through a horrible nightmare!  They don't reply to any concerns of the subscriber; be it a simple inquiry or technical problems.  Their customer service is non-existent.  If you're lucky to chat with their customer service dept. (which is very difficult to do), these reps are RUDE and don't seem to care about any concerns of the customer.
AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!
