Voipgo Reviews

Voipgo offers residential calling plans starting at $7.95 a month so that you can save money on your home telephone system.

Voipgo Unlimited Monthly

Voipgo’s unlimited monthly plan is great for the commitment-phobe. For $17.95 a month, you get unlimited incoming and outgoing calls to the US and Canada. There’s no contract, just a regular monthly charge - and you even get one month free. All 18 features offered by Voipgo are also included with this plan.

Voipgo Unlimited Yearly

For those who want to save a little bit (and don’t mind a contract), Voipgo’s annual plan is a good choice. For one year of service, you pay $149.95 per year- that’s $12.49 a month. With this plan, you get everything you’d get with the unlimited monthly plan, but for a cheaper price. Sometimes, it pays to commit.

Voipgo Incoming

Voipgo’s incoming calling plan allows you only to receive calls - you can’t make calls. With this plan, you do not receive one month free, nor do you receive all 18 features: only 12.

Bottom line

The best plan for your money is Voipgo’s annual plan: it combines the most features with the most cost savings.

All of these plans include one local phone number and you can bring your own device. None of these plans require an activation fee or a cancellation fee. Setup is also free. If you want a virtual number, it costs an addition $3.95 a month.

I have been with VOIPGO for a week now. I took 2 days to get my account setup. I got replies from ticket dispatch at acceptable time frame. Was helped by experts how to get my account working with my own device. This is a big plus that I was impressed with tech support through live chat. I would not be able to setup the voip adapter. Sound quality is similar to my other landline phone which I keep due to alarm system.I like the voice mail message which I configure to forward to my e-mail address. Most needed features are there though I do not use all of them. I am in monthly unlimited contract and plan to sign yearly so I can test out the service.

I do not believe there is a perfect voip out there. I am satisfied with what I have seen and used the service. What I did is trying myself despite of negative reviews here and there. You can know it by trying it out. Some said bad things but when nothing works other say positive things when they do not have problem. I am in the latter group so VOIPGO is not that bad service like a lot of readings implying that!
I am with good ISP which is Teksavvy. My voip settings are most optimized. Never have a dropped call nor anything like other may have. I guess try not to use torrent when calls are in use but if you are browsing then you are ok. There is a lot of factors involved to give voip its full potential.
Anyhow, I really like VOIPGO so far. Believe it or not, if i have to vote the tech support, they will have my vote. Tech support help me online for 2 hours professionnally to trace out the problem by remotely take control of my pc and fix the bad settings I made besides beeing friendly.
My current settings with VOIPGO:
Linksys VOIP PAP2 V2
ISP: Teksavvy Premium plan
So far, I am happy with the service. Often reviews do necessarely reflect what they are and can not apply to your situation. I signed up and have not encountered any major problem. No harm to try it anyhow, still you can cancel it but I have not seen any negative or bad things to do so.

Here's my story:
I've used this service for 2 weeks now.  It started off shaky.  My VOIP did not work at first, so I contacted online help.  After a little while they informed me that it looked like I was being sent onto an American system or something like that.  They told me to wait for an e-mail saying that it had been fixed.  So I waited, and nothing came.  So I tried to use it the next day and it worked.
But, the sound quality was horrible.  Tinny, with an echo.  I contacted customer service, and they recommended I not use a wireless connection.  Well that wasn't the problem.  So I submitted a ticket and got no recommendations from Voipgo technical support on how to improve the sound.
Then I realized that the soft phone available for download on the Voipgo site was the X-Lite 3...there is an X-Lite 4 now.  So I downloaded that and everything is great.
So I contacted online help and told them what I did and they credited me 5 dollars for being helpful.
Online help is available most of the time, the price is a very reasonable 17.95 a month for unlimited incoming/outoing calls, and if you're on both lines the third call coming in will ring busy.  (Busy signal is cheesy sounding but not a big deal.)  I needed a busy signal for my business which is why I chose Voipgo and I am glad I did.

I use voipgo since 4 months and we are july 29 and I have a problem with my line, someone else is receiving my call and I'm not able to receive call. So I try to reach them, this is impossible. I tryed twice yesterday, I wait about 2 hours the first time and 1h30 the second time. Their online chat is offline, I tryed to contact them via email, they did not answer, I sent a second email in emergency, no answer. Today I tryed again to call them, no answer, I'm on waiting all the time. I wait for about 1h30 today and never get answer. Tryed again later during the day, same thing, no answer. Email again, nothing yet. I don't recommend them as a serious company. The first week when I had signup they install my line and I get a problem, I'm was not able to get any call, they give me a temporary number, it took to week to finally work. Really don't waste your time with this company.

I've had voipgo for 13 months and have been very pleased with it since day 1. Last week when we had an emergency we figured out that we cannot call 911 using voipgo. It's not a dial plan issue; I am a voip tech myself and have tried every dialplan I can think of to test 911 and it always returns with fast busy. I contacted support; they said they are going to get back to me in 48hrs. They never did. Contacted support again this time I was asked "how frequently we need to dial 911"?!?!?! I was also told this will have to be relayed to a manager and that they don't know how long it would take and how I would hear back from them. Please see the chat session log below; and decide how important it is for them to have a customer with 911 calling issue..

Voipgo: Hello me, how may I help you?me: hime: I have two questionsVoipgo: sure, go aheadme: 1) is voipgo going thru a management change or any other kind of transition? Cause I can't seem to reach support easily or get ansers to my questions.Voipgo: we were 2-3 months agome: okme: 2nd question:me: i had contacted support 3 days ago about being unable to call 911me: i still haven't heard from anyoneme: and we're still unable to call 911Voipgo: name and number pleaseme: "my name" "xxx xxx xxxx"Voipgo: how often do you need 911?me: we had an emergency last week and my wife was unable to call 911; since then i'm trying frequently to see if it worksme: it's not a matter of frrequency but a matter of emergencyVoipgo: i know, i just need it for the notesme: also, it looks like it's not a dial plan issue; since I tried it with several different dial plans.Voipgo: is the adapter from us?me: no, but i tried several different adaptersme: i also tried a sip client on my computersme: same issue..Voipgo: okVoipgo: then its going to be an issue on our endVoipgo: im going to have to get in touch with a manager in that dept.Voipgo: if its not working that means its going to be a major issueme: how long would that takeVoipgo: which means that itll take some time to get it fixedVoipgo: my guess would be a month or so.me: then I should look into changing my service providerVoipgo: i never said for sure, it might be a weekVoipgo: i just wouldnt knowVoipgo: id think since this is important so theyll try to get it working asapme: this is against fcc regulations; so they'd better act quick..Voipgo: i knowme: how will i hear from you?Voipgo: i dont know, ive never heard of anybody having this issueVoipgo: i already forwarded it to my managerVoipgo: so im guessing he willme: email me? call me?Voipgo: call i thinkVoipgo: i dont know, i dont want to promise you anythingme: this doesn't look very promising..Voipgo:just because i dont have answers to things that my boss is going to do doesnt mean that its not going to happen. i mean whats the difference which was he contacts you?Voipgo:if youd like to request a specific way to be contacted ill let him know, but please dont expect me to know exact details of his actionsme: don't you follow any guidelines?me: is there no ticketing system?me: can you at least provide me with a reference number so next I need to call I can use that number?me: I'm trying to be cautious cause I had problems with voipgo support twice previously.Voipgo:yes there is, but after being here for 3 years you are the first to ever come along with an issue with 911, and forgive me for not knowing this procedureme: You usually don't get back to your customers..me: okme: anyway thanks for your attentionVoipgo: no problem, sorry about the inconvenience
I will update as soon as I hear back from them.

Hi,My plan was to test out voipgo and see if it could replace my home phone to save me money.    I had not problems ordering the voipgo box and giving a deposit for the box, it was all done online and with Visa. What you must remember is your phone quality is only as good as your internet connection/speed.  You must also keep in mind that making phone calls over the internet will use bandwidth.  Make sure you know your upload/dowload maximum, some service providers will charger you if you go over your limit. (Cogeco Cable)Shortly after I received the package in the mail I had no problem setting it up and getting it running.  I then began to call differnt locations, friends and family who lived out of the city to test the quality of the lines. All in all the quality was not bad, not as clear as Bell Canada (My current phone provider) but it was pretty good for what I was paying. The issues I encountered was that once and a while I had to power cycle (unplug power cable then plug it back in) the voipbox.  It seems like it was getting locked up and I was not able to receive incoming and make out going calls.  When I went online for support I chatted with a tech and suggested I do this, it seemed to do the trick. This same issue occured again for a longer period of time, upto 4 days.  I tried calling the 1 800 number but I could not get a hold of anyone so I emailed the site and got a reply."We are aware of the weekend outage and are truly sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused."What had happend was some of their servers went down while they were doing an upgrade. I was not happy that for 4 days I did not have a phone service.  They were aware of the upgrade and the downtime but they did not attempt to contact any of their clients and let them know or post anything on the website. After this occurance and the lack of stability the company offered I decided to return the package and cancel my month to month plan.I wanted to personally drop off the package but that was not possible because they have not physical location.I mailed the package back to the company and I got no return of deposit or email or confirmation they received the package. After emailing them, they stated they did not receive the package. I tracked it down with the post office and it was delived to the company.  I provided voipgo with my tracking number and everything.  I even spoke to someone on the phone who said I would get the deposit back in a few weeks.  That was over 4 months ago.  To this day I still did not get my money back.  It is next to impossible to get a hold of someone on the phone, waited on hold for hours!!.  Your best bet is the online chat or email.  They have stopped replying to my emails.  The online chats are not always active.  They have gone for days without someone coming online.  The chats also have a timeout option, if nothing is typed after a set amount of time the chat ends and you have to start all over again. All in all this company seems very unorganized and without a physical location and a direct number you can never get a hold of anyone.I do not suggest this company to anyone, unless you are willing to deal with all the above facts.I hope this helps someone from making the same poor decision I did. Thanks,Andrew

I signed up with VOIPGO and gave them awhile to send me my account info. I was in no hurry. I waited three days, then submitted a ticket because patience was growing thin. Got my login within a couple of hours. I started using their management interface. Lacklustre to say the least. Looks like a generic PBX solution. I wanted to get my number ported, I got a hold of their customer support by email and they assured me the port would go through and they would try their hardest to make it happen.
That's the last time I really got good support from them. Their online support was never there, never answered tickets. Their hotline and they had a full voicemail box! I had to call the owner on his personal line from WHOIS to get any indication of life. They removed their business plan from their website, I'd guess because they weren't able to offer acceptable business class service.
Call quality was horrible. Sometimes better with a softphone but still terrible. Outage at least once for a full day. Couldn't get faxes over 3 pages through, even though the service was advertised as T.38 compatible.
Still have not received confirmation that my account has been closed and assurance that no further billings will occur.
I think that they underestimated the demand for their service, and they aren't able to keep up. Excellent price, but you get what you pay for I guess.

Local phone service: usually works well, you wouldn't know you're not using a traditional land lineLong distance: usually okay, but often you have to ask the other person to repeat words or sentences since they get lostToll-free numbers: don't even bother trying to call a toll-free number using VoIP Go - calls to toll-free numbers are often not connected and if they are connected, the connection is so bad the parties in the conversation can't understand each otherBottom line: VoIP Go is usable as a replacement local phone service if you don't mind frequent service outages, but not good for much else

In Uly 2007 I moved to Canada from U.S. (where I had Vonage-U.S.) and wanted a cheaper alternative to Vonage-Canada. Thought VOIPGO was the way to go but quickly learned their Customer Service is non-existent (see examples below). For that reason I returned my VOIP device in early August 2007 and Canada Post confirms it was delivered. By mid-August VOIPGO alleges they processed the refund to my U.S. credit card. By now (Oct 1, 2007) the refund has still not appeared on my card and when I emailed them multiple times over the past few weeks for details of the alleged refund so that I could question my credit card company, VOIPGO has yet to respond. To protect muyself, I had to put the original VOIPGO charge in dispute with my credit card company. EXAMPLES of so-called CUSTOMER SERVICE: Toll-free number always defaults to voicemail. Can take days for them to return a call. LiveChat says they're online but no one responds. Sending an email takes days for a reply.

Cheap price (which they use as a lure)
Non-existent customer service. Don't risk your money.

If you are considering Viopgo I would stay away. I have been in a state of limbo since opening an account with them over 3 months ago. I have tried to do a number port. Initally I was told that it would take about 2 weeks. My area code was unavaliable to port. They told me to call back in two weeks and I should be able to do it. I did so, they said yes I can port. I asked them to send me the required forms. Never recieved anything. Live chat a week later got me the forms. From that point on things went completely south. I submitted the port request. This was about 7/30/07. Called back about a week later to make sure they have everything they needed. Can't get anyone on the phone. Tried the next day, again no answer. sat on hold 2 hours and was disconnected. tried live support, no answer. Ok now i am getting frustrated. The website clearly states 24/7 support! I finally get someone on live support about 8/25/07. I had tried at least 6 times on the phone, and not once was i able to get through to anyone. When i finally got the guy on 8/2507 he says he can't answer my question as to when the number will be ported. OK i can be patient here but the last guy told me two weeks and it has been over 3 weeks since i sent the form can you give me any indication as to how far along in the process i am? Sorry I can't answer. He goes on to say that if he tries to call the phone company to check he will be on hold for mabye 2 hours. OK I say well can you tell me why that is? he says they are flooded with new sunrocket customers and that ports are taking about 37 days. OK now I am getting some info! If it is 37 days then so be it. I can appreciate that they are busy and may be flooded with calls. I can also appreciate that they are dealing with porting a number away from another company and thus removing revenue from them, so that company may not be all that coopertive. I ask what day they submitted my paperwork. He tells me 8/14/07. OK so my paperwork sat around for 2 weeks before it made it into the que. So I ask If that is the case then I can expect to see my number ported on or about 9/20/07 right? He says yes it should be by then. Now I sit back and wait patiently. OK fast forward to 9/22/07 my wife is getting pretty pissed that nothing is happening so i try to call voipgo. No answer no message. just a black hole when i chose my selection. I try this several times that night still nothing. I try live support. Nobody comes on. Next day I try phone calls, live support and an email. No response to anything. repeat the next day. and the next. I have opened an emergency ticket. no response and it was closed. I open a high priority ticket on 9/27/07. no response. nobody even appears to have looked at it. I sat on hold in the support department for over 5 hours on 3 different calls yesterday. Disconnected twice and finally hung up. Tried to call billing to discuss. no answer. emailed billing. no answer. Now i am over 45 days since my port was requested. All I want is some info! and email will suffice. Anything really!
Now i am in limbo. If I cancel this account my number will probably port the next day, and I will lose the number I am trying to keep. If you are considering this company look elsewhere. I went with this company based on the strength of reviews about thier customer service. Those were a complete falsification or something drastic has changed. Customer Service is basically non existant at this company. If you ever need them your on your own! BEWARE!!!!!
