Was a Champion customer (they used Level 3 as their backbone) and life was good -- excellent actually. Nexboom took over, no more faxing, no more distinctive ring feature, no more good customer service, people complain to me that when they are ringing me the tone is disruptive, I have plenty of dropped calls now, level 1 tech support is awful, then sit in the que for level two tech support. From what I can disect, Nexboom has Nuvio provide their VoIP service, who contracts out to various backbone providers depending on circumstance. In summary I've put up with it long enough and am switching to Packet 8 as they use Level 3, Inc. for their backbone (like Champion did.)

Can not think of anything nice to say here.
Thumbs down on quality, customer service, and tech support.

I had service for years with Champion, no problems. Since the Nexboom switch, service quality is horrible, no fax either, and when I canceled service, they continued to charge me for months and finally, when they stopped, charged me a $19.99 disconnect fee after years of service. Please think hard before using nexboom.

Just went to cancel my service. Was tired of rebooting every time it went down. I was told that the new companies policy is you pay for your bill until the end of the month no matter what day you cancel. No refunds of service. I asked shouldn't they notify me about this change. Person was silent. So I guess not. Can't believe that is legal.
Service was okay when you have it as long as you don't mind shutting everything down just to make a phone call. The echos. Your phone calls that dont go through and no fax.

Endured the switch from Champion Communications to Nexboom; after the change I was no longer able to fax information. Customer service's response was "sorry there is nothing we can do". Just b/c they bought out another company, why should I lose features, etc... Changing to Vonage.

I have been with Champion Comunications (Now Nexboom) since 2004. Have been relatively happy with the service overall.
Sometimes the sound quality gets a little off. (This may be because of overall net congestion. The sound quality varies.
At its worst the echo and interference was bad.
At its best it is almost cd quality.
Only lost the use of the phone for extended periods twice since starting. Once was due to a bad ice storm that hammered Greenville, SC. (Where the company is based)
The other time was a crashed system that was fixed within 6 hours.
Only real complaint is the sound quality variations and the sound quality of the voicemail.
If they would only sample a little higher on the voicemail it would be fine.
Took less than two weeks to port my old number over to the new phone system. Price is great as well.

I have been completely satisfied with Champion Communications. I love all the features. I have checked out their customer service, and I have even taken the VoIP hardware with me to Panama City, Panama and was able to make and receive phone calls from the USA/Canada while I was there for a week.
I love Champion Communications!
