I hope all these people having trouble with this company reports them to the Better Business Bureau. This process can be done online @ http://search.bbb.org/ Let's get this fraudlent business, out of business, with all the complaints it can be done. Good Luck!
DON'T TRY NET ZERO-I CANCELLED MY SERVICE LAST MONTH AND MY GRANDAUGHTER HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET ON LINE FOR A MONTH BEFORE THAT--THEY HAVE NOT CANCELLED MY SERVICE I HAVE BEEN ON THE PHONE ALL DAY CANNOT UNDERSTAND HALF OF PERSONAL THAT ANSWER THE PHONE THEY WON'T PUT ON A SUPERVISOR-HAVE FILED A CLAIM WITH MO. ATTORNEY GENERAL-I SUGGEST ANY PROBLEMS FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS IN MO. DO THE SAME YOU CAN FIND THE PLACE TO DO THIS ON GOOGLE JUST PUNCH IN ATTORNEY GENERAL OF MO. AND THE FORM WILL COME RIGHT UP.
After trying Skype I went to Netzero plan 250 with number in US. I am frequently in another country where telephone calls are very expensive. This has saved me tons of money and I use it daily for business and personal. Once in a while a line drops but then I am on a foreign DSL line. I have some friends who also use it. I did have a minor problem with Customer Service but it is fixed. My experience in technical support keeps me calm and I know that problems and Customer Service are where many companies fail. Document complaints to the top if you must.
This is a horrible company as far as customer service goes. They shut my account off without any warning and would not allow me to continue. I then "upgraded" to the pay as I go so I could continue to use the service while deployed in Afghanistan, and that does not work either. I've called and emailed their "support" to get my money back and have yet to get anywhere. A really shoddy company to say the least.
Don't buy into the crap you hear about if you aren't satisfied they'll give you your money back because it isn't so. In fact I canceled my account with them two months ago and my credit card was just billed for an extra $25 by NETZERO. THEY ARE CROOKS ... the service was the worse I have ever had and that was why I canceled and THEY ARE THIEVES ... billing my credit card two whole months after I canceled and sending my account into overdrawn. DO NOT trust this company.
When I found out about Netzero possibly exitting the VOIP I was concerned since I dreaded have to go back to Vonage or eek! Skype!
After reading over the transcript there is no way that a smart company like United Online will cut off paying customers (around 20,000) especially if there is a possiblity of selling off the VOIP unit. It just says that they will not spend money upgrading or promoting it. As long as they still have paying customers there will be Netzero Voice and the only way that will change is if they go broke (lots money in the bank so minimal chance of that happening) or the unit being sold or spun off.
Sorry to see the paid, subscription of Netzero Voice go. You do not believe me. Then go to Netzero and try to enroll.
I too read the Q4 2006 conference call of United Online, the parent company, and it does say in clear, concise language that the Netzero Voice will be shut down. Even the first caller in the conference refers to this.
I do not know how anyone can infer that only advertising is impacted unless they are referring to an earlier conference call which addressed advertising for Netzero Voice.
Too bad - this service was good.
That is NOT what that link says. It DOES say they are not going to continue to try and build on that portion of the business. Which means no more advertising dollars will be spent, and no more equipment supporting expansion of the Voip end of Netzero will be purchased. Nowhere in the article is cancellation of present customers mentioned.
According to the Chairman and CEO of United Online (they own Netzero), both Voice and PrivatePhone are being discounted - not even revenue with 20,000 paid subscribers. Read for yourself at http://internet.seekingalpha.com/article/26530
