I got the device within a week of signing up. setting up the device very easy, just plug it in pretty much. contacting customer service, however, took a couple tries to get my online account wasn't working when i got my device. voice quality seems good, about par with vonage.

When I first signed up with zingotel I thought it was great because of the price I was willing to put up with the occassional dropped calls and service outages. But after a while I noticed my c/c was being billed not at the promised 15.90/month for as long as I had the service but they had decided I was a business and started charging me 50.90/month this despite the fact that the only calls we make are to our own home number. My wife lives in another city because of her job and we thought the price sounded good - ha. No amount of pleading or explaining that we are not a business will convince them to change back to the promised rate and of course you can't actually speak to a person, this is all done through email and they send me the same canned response "As per records we observed that your telephone account has exhibited certain usage patterns which flag it as being for other than residential purpose - case closed"

They will start charging you a different rate after a while if you actually use your phone.

We use Zingotel for business service. Their service is down at least twice a week. There is no customer service response within hours, and when service is back to normal, customer service response with solution not suitable for us at all.

Never received my equiptment and still receiving monthly charges for nothing! Their service is based out of INDIA and is very poor. Days to respond to simple email. Don't answer the phone most of the time either. Please be aware!!!

I'm the guy who, on September 16, 2006, wrote a review on ZingoTel titled "Much better than expected." Well, since then, it's been too unreliable for me to recommend to anyone anymore. Dropped calls happen at least a few times a month, and earlier today, someone tried to call me and got a message saying my number was out of service. While customer service was able to fix the latter problem the same day, their technical people should be working harder to prevent these problems from happening in the first place, and judging from other recent reviews on this site, they aren't. I plan to switch to another provider as soon as I complete my first year with them, and am glad I kept the packaging for my VOIP adapter so I can return it (the $100 fee some people have mentioned comes from failing to return the equipment they send when you first start using their service).

Somebody please take this company to the court. They are ripping off people. Their product does not work their system is flawed and when customers want to cancel the service the company charges anywhere from $39.99 to $100 for deactivation !!! Complete rip off !!! Did not expect this from a techie company based in N. America. Keep away from this one dont fall in their trap!! This is a scam

I got my router shipped to me 13 days ago. I tried to install the router myself but found it too technical for my taste. After frequent calls to customer service rep and many wasted minutes later got it "installed". But when I tried using teh phone I got call fast busy tone. Again wasted couple of agonising hours trying to contact customer service reps only ot be told that my router was working on their server so I should not have any problem placing the call. Well that response did not help. After many emails and reinstallations later I have given up. The product does not work and surprisingly the company is charging me with deactivation charges when the device/service was not activated in the first place and I did not use a single minute. Wasted money on shipping. Keep away from this company and its products..

Cutomer service is in india, banglore. Long waiting time, very poor response and It sucks big time. I am a residential unlimited customer they started charging long distance charges for calls with in US / CANADA. This is 4th month and going....no one resolves the issue. they raised the price to $19.99

ZINGOTEL SERVICE IS OUTSOURCED TO INDIA. REQUESTED A NUMBER CHANGE, STILL A MONTH, NO CHANGE. THEY LIE CONTSTANTLY TO YOU ABOUT THE WORK BEING PERFORMED. Dear customer Please remove the router or any device that may be blocking the device, as i am unable to access your device no updates can take place please connect it directly to the cable modem for an hour for the updates to take place

Dear customer We meant on our end the server end the server has to update it on the device thats what we meant by we could not access your device it has to be provisioned to your device in order for the changes to take complete effect.

I went with Zingotel and canceled within the 30 days alloted to have my money returned. I returned the equipment and not only have they not returned my money as promised they have taken more than $100 more from my credit card.
They put someone else's phone number on the new charge and when I tried the other number that I had originally, I was put on hold for 20 minutes with the computer saying I was sixth in line and so on until it passed the number 1 and then the computer said my call could not be handled and I should leave a message and they would get back with me. Obviously the whole twenty minute wait was a lie. Do not go with this company.
Zingotel is nothing more than a con to get your credit card number and rob you blind.
