CallCentric Reviews

CallCentric is an internet phone service provider that uses either your computer or a telephone adapter to place calls via the internet. CallCentric allows for free calls to other CallCentric customers and low-rate calls to traditional phones. CallCentric offers VoIP-based broadband phone services for both residential and business users. Their services include all of the essential features, free local numbers, and much more.

Consider the IP Freedom phone service. As long as you are calling another CallCentric customer, with the proper installed software (or an IP-adapted phone), the call is absolutely 100% free. The only downside is that you can’t call anyone on a landline.

What does CallCentric offer?

CallCentric has three different paid calling plans available. The first, Pay Per Call, is an extension of the IP Freedom calling plan. You simply credit a small amount to your account and you can call anywhere in world, at low VoIP rates. That’s it. You only pay for what you use. Calls within the CallCentric network are still free. The second and third plans are the North America Unlimited Plan and the World Select Plan. Both are for a low monthly fee and both offer unlimited calls: North America Unlimited to North America and World Select to 35 countries around the globe. All CallCentric’s plans (even IP Freedom) have wonderful features included, like voicemail, browser management, and more.

I'm trying to call Brazil from USA. I could not complete it. Customer service is not helping too much. Local call in USA does not have high quality.

If you're not porting a number (and will therefore not have contact with their customer service), this is a pretty good service. However, the *instant* you need to open a trouble ticket, your life will be hell. Better yet -- the first time you need to open a ticket, just cancel your account.

Cheap, good sound quality, good features
horrible, horrendous, obnoxious customer service. Their LNP process is terrible, their customer service rude, arrogant, and have a "your time is our time" philosophy

Started out well but after a few days, I could not hear the other party or get through. This went on and I kept on topping up my account until I decided to leave them. I would not recommend them but I will say that they have good customer service and support. Their prices are also reasonable.

This is not one of the best service plans out there in the market for VoIP. With this service you have to pay for unlimited outgoing calls(19.99/mon)and unlimited incoming calls with is an extra 19.99/mon. They also have other plans where you can just pay for however many mins you expect to use for the month. I figure this service is not good on your pockets if you are looking to save money for regular features which are in any modern day phone packages anyway. If you are looking for a limited package deal this would be a good plan, but most people are looking for unlimited. This company will have you paying big time for unlimited service. That is like $40.00/mon just for those two features. Not going with this service plan saves me a lot of money in the first place lol.

Good customer service
Pay outrages prices for separate features, that should be calculated in one low price!

Not happy with service. Ok, I'm mostly unhappy with voipreview.org, but I guess it is my fault for not researching more about Callcentric. The price doesn't seem too bad, ... until you find out that you don't get a phone number with their "unlimited" plan. Yes, I *am* new to VOIP, but shouldn't that be noted somewhere on the voipreview.org phone service plan information web page?
Callcentric should certainly explicitly state this.
As for the sound quality, it is less than what I expected, but I am probably more demanding that most--yes I have a solid connection with plenty of upload and nothing else going on during sub-par voice quality calls.

Unlimited outgoing calls on "unlimited" plan.
No incoming calls on "unlimited" plan since there's no phone # included w/plan.

For some reason with Callcentric I had ongoing problems. People calling my phone would get a busy signal or no answer. Callcentric at first didn't think calls were coming in because it didn't even make it to their system (i.e. nothing logged even at their end). They told me it was with their carriers lines. They told me it was fixed twice, but still people call and say they've been trying for hours. I have 4 other VOIP lines with different carriers, all work great. I had a second line with callcentric, which seemed to work fine. Unfortunately for me, Callcentric was the line I used for my HOME phone. Quite the hassle. I'm porting the number to another provider since they were unable to resolve it.

Quick setup
Not much good if it doesn't work properly.

I have 3 accounts. They completely LOST 2 numbers I ported in to them. The other sometimes answers "Number not in Service". They are a total nightmare. No phone support, only "Trouble Tickets" that they respond to when the get around to it, even emergency problem as mentioned. 6 hour response normally. To make things worse, they simply claim it is my equipment that is the problem when all 3 accounts in 3 different locations all go down at the same time....YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! They need to be shut down since it seems like the management itself could care less since I have been patiently hoping they would change, but since a year of issues, they have not.

Great when it works
Poor dependability, Irresponsible management, Arrogant customer support and slow responsiveness.

I was their customer for over 3 years and did not experience any major issues during that time - the call quality was acceptable and the cost reasonable. The problems surfaced when Callcentric faced some serious technical issues that appeared beyond their technical capabilities. Callcentric did not take the down service seriously resulting in extensive downtime - I mean you cannot call out or receive calls and at best you can hear the other party, but they cannot hear you, or repeated dropped calls. Horrible experience that lasted over a month. What tipped it over the edge is that they just couldn't care about the pathetic level of service as long as they have your credit card on file and bill you for service that does not exist.

Quality of service was average until recent outages. ease of use and bring your own device BYOD.
I am leaving Callcentric due to the unuseable service for over a month. You cannot call them for support, but open a ticket which never resolve the issues. Continue to charge even with the service down. Feel totally ripped off and really let down by a company that does not value service commitment to their customers.
