Aracanc is a Canadian VoIP service provider that also offers Internet and cable TV.
Arcanac serves most cities in Canada (they have a complete list of service areas on their website) and offers three variations on a VoIP theme:
- Unlimited Home Phone for $9.95+ a month
- Unlimited Home Phone with ATA for $19.95+ a month
- Business Unlimited with ATA for $39.95+ a month
The best rate, naturally, is the home phone unlimited (profiled to the right): just make sure that you have a phone adapter or an IP phone (which will allow you to use VoIP phone service). If it's a choice between paying $120 a month for an adapter that you should pay, at most, $70 for, wouldn't YOU choose the adapter.
Difference between Business and Home VoIP service
Basically, the only difference between Business Unlimited and Home Unlimited with Arcanac is the amount of numbers you can call in one month.
With home unlimited, you can call up to 50 numbers a month before you account is put on hold (and you're considered a business).
With business unlimited, you can call up to 250 numbers a month before your account is put on hold.
Apparently, this works for Arcanac; let us know if it works for you.
Other than this strange fair use limit, Arcanac's VoIP service is fairly straightforward. In fact, Arcanac's terms and conditions explain exactly what all the legalese means and the various permutations that the terms and conditions can apply to. We like that.
