Editorial Review
Phone Power is a California-based VoIP company that delivers residential VoIP phone solutions throughout the US and Canada. Founded in 2005, Phone Power has a growing subscriber base and has earned a number of industry awards. In fact, the company was ranked the 30th Fastest Growing Company by Inc. 500, made the Top 22 on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500, and was also recognized as Editor’s Choice by VoIPReview.org.
Unlimited Calling
Phone Power’s home phone service plans offer unlimited calling to anywhere in the US and Canada, along with 60 minutes of free international calling to over 75 countries worldwide. Customers can choose from three different plans and payment terms: a 12-month contract term that starts at $9.95/month, a month to month subscription without a contract or prepay which begins at $19.95 per Month, and a 12-month prepaid plan that comes at the lowest monthly price of $8.33.
Powerful Phone Features
Aside from unlimited calling, each plan from Phone Power also includes over 45+ phone features (such as Mobile Phone App, Voicemail-to-Email, and Call Waiting Caller ID), a free second line and softphone, plus a 30-day money-back guarantee.
If you use Phone Power without a router, you might be a satisfied customer, but if you have to use one like me, you will find yourself calling customer service all the time: The 1st time I called, they told me that there was an IP conflict between my main computer and the Phone power box (I had T-Mobile @home for 2 years with the same config & never had this kind of issue): We stayed on the phone for about 25 min and they "solved" the pb. 3 days later the service was down. When I called 2 weeks later because of no time, they told me that my phone device is not getting enough power from the wall!! (again, I had T-Mobile @home for 2 years with the same config and same phone device & never had this kind of issue): I change the location of my phone unit and the pb was solved. 3 days later the service was down. I called them today and they told me (with an aggressive and unhappy tone) that my IP keep changing, that's why I keep having problems. Of course my IP is supposed to change all the time since I do not pay for a static IP from my internet provider. Unless you are running a server I do not see why you will need a static IP. I am waiting for someone to call me, waste my time and have the service down in a couple of days.I have been with this company for 5 months now and my phone has been down 25 days per month. Unfortunately I signed up for a one year contract. At this point, I think I'm going to break the contract and go to another provider

Not what I wanted in a company

I ordered Phone Power for a few months. It seemed like outages would keep happening almost on a daily basis by the time I cancelled my account. I could never trust the phone to stay working. Got stuck in an emergency room and couldn't call home as they had another outage. If they could fix their actual downtime (not what they post) it would be a good company. Don't try and contact them during an outage, their webbased communications would shut down before you got to them, and surprisingly their tech support answering machine was full and wouldn't take messages. Not what I wanted in a company.
Knowledgeable staff. decent sound quality and a good price.
Horrible service interruptions. Too much down time.

Phone Power Customer Review
Dellj
It's great that they offer a free softphone in your account. The fax catcher is handy too. I'm very pleased with the call quality and the speed of which my questions are attended to by customer service. On top of that, the prices are great. I picked the 2 year prepaid at 199.95. Can't complain!

Phone Power Review - Happy Customer
Smithson
I'm not very tech savvy, but the customer service reps patiently explained to me what I needed to know and I'm happy I made the switch from my old company. I started month to month on the $19.95 rate to see if I liked it, which was still cheaper than what I was paying before, but then switched to their 2 year contract plan for $14.95 once I was very pleased with the service and features. I don't use fax that often, but sometimes I do need to receive one and was very pleased that someone could send it to my Phone Power voicemail and have a copy sent to my email as well. Clear call quality is a plus too.

Phone Power: excellent price, satisfied
St.Patrick
I've been VoIPing for the past 3 years. I started with Vonage. Great program but still costly. I signed up for Phone Power about 8 months ago. Initially I had some issues getting started but the staff there was really helpful and knowledgeable. I was also happy to realize that they all spoke english. Nothing was lost in translation. What a pleasent surprise. The price of course is excellent. I signed up for the 1 year plan and have been satisfied ever since. Tons of features and I dont' have to pay extra. The hardward they send out (grandstream) is small, compact, and has worked great. I would love to get the travel adapter they have (their own version of the Magic Jack...). It was a good move to Phone Power. Just wanted to spread the word... Good company.

Picked it up at Best Buy over the holidays... sound quality is better than I expected. No echo or anything like that. This is my 2nd voip product. I had vonage... too expensive. The price is right. They were cool on the phone but it still took about 20 minutes to get everything ready. No problems so far. I signed up for the 1 yr plan... gonna wait a couple more weeks to see if i want to upgrade to the 2 year. I like the features, and the travel adapter works great on my laptop. I'm very happy so far.
Great price! Features are cool. Pretty easy to set up. Quality sound.

Ported phone number from Vonage to Phone Power
bobodaclown
Ported phone number from Vonage. Purchased device from Best Buy. The package came with Home adapter and USB portable adapter. Took about 10 days to port phone number from Vonage. Then called Vonage and cancelled service. Sound quality seem goods. Time will tell.
Dealing with customer service has ben great.
Sound quality is fine. No complaints.
Price is very good. One of the lowest. Did the yearly plan. Second year you must pay taxes, after the first year.
Reliablilty. Too soon to tell.
Nice set of features. Did like the voice mail to e-mail that vonage offered. Thats the only reason it didn't get 5/5.
Phone Power offers residential and international plans on top of VoIP hardware installation guides in order to meet all of your calling needs. Their home phone service is the same plan with three different pricing tiers, and offers you nearly unlimited calling throughout the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. You can even keep your current phone number with Phone Power's residential calling plan! Phone Power also has three International plans available, and depending on how many countries you call determines what plan is right for you.
If you aren't satisfied with their service, Phone Power offers its customers a 30 Day money back guarantee.
The Rub
For home phone service, Phone Power provides consumers with the USA/Canada Unlimited Calling plan. If you are willing to sign a long-term contract, Phone Power can guarantee lower monthly rates. Then again, their monthly package isn’t exorbitant, either, so you can't go wrong with affordable phone service whether or not you want to sign a contract with Phone Power.
Each unlimited plan, regardless of the term (1 year prepay, 1 year contract, or monthly) will get you virtually unlimited calling. You can make and receive inbound calls without a limit, and are granted 60 minutes a month of international calling. Plus, with their USA/Canada Unlimited Calling plan, Phone Power provides a mobile phone app, free activation, and a free cloned second line.
Bottom Line
If you know that you need a dependable VoIP phone service that will help you save money, opt for the 1-year prepay to save the most money. However, be sure to consult Phone Power's website As a trustworthy and reputable residential VoIP provider for ten years, they can provide you the phone service and customer support that you require to stay connected. Plus, their support team is 100% US-based, and their website offers e-guides as well as tech support chat.
While the monthly rate is entirely affordable and much less than a traditional phone provider, taxes, fees, shipping, and handling still apply to your order.

Our Two Cents
Phone Power makes it easy to have an affordable residential VoIP phone system. They offer three differnet payment options in their USA/Canada plans: a Monthly Average (as a 1-year prepay), a 12-Month Term, and a No Contract option. This makes it easy for users to choose a term that they are most comfortable with. Even still, Phone Power offers a 30-Day money back guarantee to its customers. These calling plans also offer customers the option to keep their current number for free, when other providers do so for a charge.
Phone Power's residential VoIP plans also have a mobile phone app, faxing capabilities, and free activation on top of many calling features. Your calling plan also comes with an allotted number of internationl minutes per month for calling to select countries. One thing unique to Phone Power is that they give you a free second cloned line with your service, which allows you to make or receive calls using the same phone number.
With Phone Power for your home phone, you get to keep your existing number, have unlimited calling to the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico, access to a mobile phone app, free activation, and a free cloned second line. All for a low monthly cost and a 30-Day money back guarantee if you aren't satisfied!
