Editorial Review
Phone Power is a California-based VoIP company that delivers residential VoIP phone solutions throughout the US and Canada. Founded in 2005, Phone Power has a growing subscriber base and has earned a number of industry awards. In fact, the company was ranked the 30th Fastest Growing Company by Inc. 500, made the Top 22 on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500, and was also recognized as Editor’s Choice by VoIPReview.org.
Unlimited Calling
Phone Power’s home phone service plans offer unlimited calling to anywhere in the US and Canada, along with 60 minutes of free international calling to over 75 countries worldwide. Customers can choose from three different plans and payment terms: a 12-month contract term that starts at $9.95/month, a month to month subscription without a contract or prepay which begins at $19.95 per Month, and a 12-month prepaid plan that comes at the lowest monthly price of $8.33.
Powerful Phone Features
Aside from unlimited calling, each plan from Phone Power also includes over 45+ phone features (such as Mobile Phone App, Voicemail-to-Email, and Call Waiting Caller ID), a free second line and softphone, plus a 30-day money-back guarantee.
The obvious perk to Phone Power is the price since its much cheaper than a landline alternative as well as many other voip providers. I've had it for a year and half and its been a great service. They've been around since 2005 so I feel pretty good about them not going anywhere. Plenty of features and they throw in a second free line. I won't be switching to anyone else anytime soon.
Cheap but quality service.

Phone Power review: Solid
CouchPotato
Overall I'd say the service is a good deal. I'm dissapointed theres no blackberry app yet though as that would be very useful for me. At least there is a promise of one. I've had it for 9 months and there have been no blips or outages. It was a breeze to set up. They do keep putting out new features on a pretty regular basis so I'll be looking forward to further improvements on what is already a solid service so far for me.

Phone Power Review: No tweaks and failsafe.
JerBear
I got two numbers with them and chose to just have them on the same device. The set up was straight forward enough. I didn’t have to tweak anything and I haven’t had any quality issues. The only thing that would happen was when my crappy Time Warner service would fail then the phone obviously would not be working as well, but at least the failsafe feature kicked in and I got the calls on my cell. I’ve since switched to ATT DSL and it’s been worlds better. Just make sure your internet is solid. Soooo very thankful that they have all US support. I picked the cheapest plan for $15. Once you get the service you have more plan options too when you look in your account page. I use a second line for fax so as the sales rep suggested, I started on the monthly no contract plan and then switched to their metered option ($8/mo, but any outbound calls are 4 cents a min) Its perfect for a fax line or low usage line though.

Phone Power Review: The transfer was very smooth

I’ve had the service for over a year now and have been very happy. I got a new number and when I was sure it was working for me (about three months down the line) I had my landline cancelled and the number transferred. The transfer was very smooth. It is definitely a savings at $20 a month at most (if you don’t want a contract). Cheaper if you do decide to. I recently added a virtual number for five bucks extra. It just rings on my main line but lets you have two phone numbers for cheap.

Phone Power: Reliabilty, price
AcesWild
Since the price was so low I kind of expected problems, but surprisingly its worked just as well as my full price landline did. Not knowing a lot about how VOIP works, I wasn’t sure if them being in located on the west coast would be a problem since I’m in NJ, but apparently alot of their customers are on the east coast so I went for it and transferred my number. I travel around a lot for business so the free softphone is very nice. It worked just as they said it would and I’ve been saving quite a bit each month with plenty of features.

Phone Power Review - Until Recently, The Best Around in VoIP, But No Longer!
DMZ
Until recently, I would have never dreamed of chastising this company, but their service and support is now heading down the tubes at flank speed. Unfortunately, call hold times to get to speak to customer service or tech support have become prohibitive. Half hour to an hour PLUS any time any day of the week, NOT GOOD!!! On 2 occasions over the past 2 1/2 years I've been a Phonepower subscriber, my voice mails and faxes mysteriously disappeared from my online account info. Went through hours of phone calls to find out what the heck happened. Still no resolution on the 2nd go around as I write this and I'm getting VERY FRUSTRATED. As I write this review, my voice mail password all of a sudden doesn't work and blocked numbers are getting through. Over THREE hours on the phone alone this morning including hold times and I get a guy who sounded like he was either stoned or just got out of bed.
One nice feature they offer is the ability to have a blocked call list and have those calls go to voice mail or a busy signal, a handy tool for stopping annoying collection agency calls and the like DEAD in their tracks. Although you can have up to 50 numbers on that list, there's no indication on the site that there's a 50 number limit. The system allows you to enter more than 50 numbers with NO WARNING INDICATION that you've gone above the 50 number limit and numbers you enter beyond 50 limit will still get through. This is something I've been complaining about for the last 2 years. Despite the fact that whomever I talk to in tech support agrees this is a flaw in the design of the Phonepower website and they'll alert the web masters, after all this time, THEY'VE STILL DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT!
The insane call hold times are now the main reason I no longer recommend Phonepower as I used to ...... to everyone I know. As they've grown, they have not added customer service reps to handle the increase in subscribers, and like most businesses, are going all out to cut costs, AT THE CUSTOMER'S EXPENSE, AND IT NOW SHOWS!
Bottom Line: A service that started off great and was so for over 2 years, but now has all the signs of going downhill, FAST.
Easy setup, great sound quality, tons of features.
Customer service / tech support quality dwindling fast! Errors on website I pointed out admitted by tech support that go unfixed despite 2 years of my advising them of such.

No more long distance charges!

No more long distance charges! Its a relief not having to worry how long I'm on the phone with my parents who live on the opposite coast due to cost per minute. I haven't used the service long enough to give a really thorough review as to the long term quality, but the many features such a the free second line and free long distance are great and it has worked nicely so far. I had to comment because of the customer service I received when ordering. I was a bit confused on some things but the girl clearly and patiently (big thing with me) explained things to me.

Phone Power: Smooth transition, keep your number, price
gingerbreadman
I wish I had known about VOIP while I was shelling out 50 bucks a month for landline service. Surprisingly, the switch went smoothly ( I was a little worried about that) and I got to keep my number. I'm happy with my choice of Phone Power. Took a little over a week to be fully set which I think is pretty standard if your keeping a number. Service has been steady and I'm enjoying paying a fraction (14.95 plan) of what I was paying before.

Phone Power Review - Excellent for me now over a year.
Randy Man
The Phone Power service has been excellent for me now over a year. I have tested 4 other main VOIP sevices and Ph Power has proved to be superior.
I would recommend this service based on a stable adapter, provisions and stays active. do not have to reboot every other day... calls are dialed instantly and
the called phone rings in nano-seconds. Clear crisp voice sound. Excellent features including voice mail, with a ring to notify you have VM. Price is good and
the Service is excellent. only had to call CS once and they were very nice and helpful. Highly recommend.
Stable platform and clear call quality, dials into bank accts requiring pass codes very well

Finally customer service in the U.S.! I was so glad to hear that when I called. I didn't have to spend a lot of time on the phone with them since they clearly explained the answers to any of my questions. I give them a big thumbs up on their technical support. I had an agent walk me through the set up, which actually turned out to be pretty easy. Great price, helpful support, and my service has been steadily reliable. Also echoing other customers that are happy to be able to utilize that cloned second line feature to have a couple calls going at once. I like to spread the word when I find a reliable company and will be referring my friends to take advantage of the $10 refer a friend credit.
Phone Power offers residential and international plans on top of VoIP hardware installation guides in order to meet all of your calling needs. Their home phone service is the same plan with three different pricing tiers, and offers you nearly unlimited calling throughout the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. You can even keep your current phone number with Phone Power's residential calling plan! Phone Power also has three International plans available, and depending on how many countries you call determines what plan is right for you.
If you aren't satisfied with their service, Phone Power offers its customers a 30 Day money back guarantee.
The Rub
For home phone service, Phone Power provides consumers with the USA/Canada Unlimited Calling plan. If you are willing to sign a long-term contract, Phone Power can guarantee lower monthly rates. Then again, their monthly package isn’t exorbitant, either, so you can't go wrong with affordable phone service whether or not you want to sign a contract with Phone Power.
Each unlimited plan, regardless of the term (1 year prepay, 1 year contract, or monthly) will get you virtually unlimited calling. You can make and receive inbound calls without a limit, and are granted 60 minutes a month of international calling. Plus, with their USA/Canada Unlimited Calling plan, Phone Power provides a mobile phone app, free activation, and a free cloned second line.
Bottom Line
If you know that you need a dependable VoIP phone service that will help you save money, opt for the 1-year prepay to save the most money. However, be sure to consult Phone Power's website As a trustworthy and reputable residential VoIP provider for ten years, they can provide you the phone service and customer support that you require to stay connected. Plus, their support team is 100% US-based, and their website offers e-guides as well as tech support chat.
While the monthly rate is entirely affordable and much less than a traditional phone provider, taxes, fees, shipping, and handling still apply to your order.

Our Two Cents
Phone Power makes it easy to have an affordable residential VoIP phone system. They offer three differnet payment options in their USA/Canada plans: a Monthly Average (as a 1-year prepay), a 12-Month Term, and a No Contract option. This makes it easy for users to choose a term that they are most comfortable with. Even still, Phone Power offers a 30-Day money back guarantee to its customers. These calling plans also offer customers the option to keep their current number for free, when other providers do so for a charge.
Phone Power's residential VoIP plans also have a mobile phone app, faxing capabilities, and free activation on top of many calling features. Your calling plan also comes with an allotted number of internationl minutes per month for calling to select countries. One thing unique to Phone Power is that they give you a free second cloned line with your service, which allows you to make or receive calls using the same phone number.
With Phone Power for your home phone, you get to keep your existing number, have unlimited calling to the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico, access to a mobile phone app, free activation, and a free cloned second line. All for a low monthly cost and a 30-Day money back guarantee if you aren't satisfied!
