8x8 just gets the job done for us. A good phone system is one you don't have to think about much. It has all the features we need, and works well with our remote team on their smartphones. Haven't experienced any down time or customer service issues either.
I run IT for a small team of 7 people. We have a quite heavy calling volume inbound and outbound and 8x8 handles this with ease. Highly recommend.
We recently switched from a local provider of Business VOIP to Apptix. The customer support for the change over has been terrific, all US based with very smart techs. As a medium sized business, documentation has been important and Apptix is very well organized with full, clear documentation. Their web portal is also very clear and easy to use.
We operate an active commercial real estate brokerage with 25 agents that require excellent phone service and that is what we got with Apptix. We were a bit reluctant at first switching from the phone company but the economy has forced us to try new things to save money. We received a lot more than we bargained for because we made the switch mainly to save money, but we have found that the features that Apptix offers are outstanding and have increased internal and external communications and productivity.
