Everything has worked as expected.
I was really weary about going to a VOIP option. I researched all the options and I really liked the 24/7 live, English speaking (Boston, does that count?) Tech Support. While the night shift couldn't answer my advanced technical issues, they can get you running with the basics is you are having troubles. The day-shift Tech Support was able to answer my questions (I wanted to modify the VOIP modem settings-not a common issue) without issue and they knew what they were talking about; not reading from a checklist.
I ordered the hardware which showed up in three days and was set up rather painlessly and I have never had an issue since.
Voice quality is, well, digital, but more than acceptable considering I am calling across the globe. I see no noticeable difference from my analog line.
I have a regular digital cordless phone connected to my VIOP modem at home and I love the software for my laptop; never miss a call when I am on the road. The X-Lite software has been bullet proof for me.
This was a leap of faith, and I am glad that I went with VYL.

Just like ATT and others, VoIP Your Life keeps adding surcharges. I have been using the service for the last 3-4 months and they started at their prices without any surcharges. Then the next month, they added Federal USF charge and this month "cost recovery charge". The amounts are small but these little surcharges were one of the main reasons that I hated ATT and alike. They keep adding charges that even they don't know what and how estimated. Customer service is good. Other than occasional (sometimes frequent) echo, the sound quality is fine. I hope they won't add more surcharges anymore.

unlimited means unlimited with voipyourlife. I use the global plan and really there aren't hiden charges or fees when you dial either over 32 countries includes in the global plan

This is my 2nd review since I started last DEC. It is great, flawless and always works fine. I had a few start up issues of configuring the box, but tech support was outstanding...this is perfect.

I am a relatively new Voip Your Life customer (almost 3 months) and wanted to chime in with my 2 cents here. I consider myself to be pretty good with technology and cool gadgets but I don’t know it all by any means since nobody can stay on top of everything. Anyway, I ordered the voip service more out of a curiosity than necessity and can say this much.
The online ORDER PROCESS is pretty simple. It took me 4 or 5 minutes to get through the whole thing. I wanted to add virtual numbers for out of state family members but had to wait until after I finished my order to log into the website to add these. It would be nice to be able to do this at sign up but no biggie.
My EQUIPMENT arrived 3 or 4 days after my order. Everything was set up for me when I got it so that made it easy to connect. My equipment didn’t work right out of the box but the problem was on my end. You need to reboot your modem and router after you install the gizmo or you wont have an internet connection. Turns out the modem has to assign an ip address to the adapter before it “sees” it…duh!
I probably would have figured that out on my own except I’m to impatient, so I called CUSTOMER SERVICE instead. I don’t know the name of the person that helped me but they were professional and figured out my problem within minutes.
The PHONE SERVICE has been very good. If you have any echo you can call them and they will reset your equipment to make it better. This only works if you install your equipment between the modem and router but I’m not sure why.
Overall I must say that I am happier with my service than I thought I would be. I’ve read some of the reviews on this site and I’m not sure I’m adding anything new to the site. But I just wanted to say me to.
One major plus for me is no contract with this company!

I am VOIPYOURLIFE customer since November 2006, that is close to five months now. Price is very good, free calls to many countries in Europe with sound quality usually better than calls within the US (strange but 1). Reliability is good, features good enough for me even with crippled caller ID.
One thing which makes me thinking about quitting their service is while voice quality on my side is always good to excellent - other parties that is people on the other side of the phone including myself when trying to call home - often complain about extremely low volume of my voice. The pattern is that connection usually starts with very low volume on their side and gradually improves reaching - after one minute or so - levels still on the low side but acceptable.
VoipYourLife customer service is - like some other people described here - pathetic. They do not even know how to introduce themselves when picking up their phone. You never even hear "How may I help you?". They mumble something like "Customer Service" and that is is. My explanations are always summarized that my Internet service does not have sufficient upload speed and too many packets are lost. While I can accept, that my service could probably be better I do not understand how my other VoIP line, which is VONAGE can always work without problems at all. Initially, when I signed with VONAGE their service was terrible, I even closed one of my accounts, paid the early termination fee and moved that account to VoIPYourLife. That with the second VONAGE line I really took my time, spend endless hours on the phone with VONAGE Customer Support, my case was elevated to the LEVEL III or IV of their CS, their replaced my adapter, possibly moved my account to another server and now everything works like a charm ALWAYS. That means the sarvice CAN work if you take a time to do it properly. So far VoIPYourlife is not willing to go beyond being rude and blaming my Internet connection.
To summarize: my VONAGE account as of today works MUCH better than VoIPYourLife (no free calls to the countries of interest in Europe though). My SKYPE works well. My Internet connection is fiber-optic cable (Verizon FIOS) with upload speed consistently in the range of 1700 - 1800, MUCH faster than what is required for VOIP. I have Hawking Broadband Booster (HBB1) installed to shield my connection from HTTP/FTP traffic. I have never heard any complaints of my respondents if the call was made/ answered via their PC2Phone soft-phone. Yet they are unwilling to even try to exchange my adapter to another one on the grounds that this adapters AGC (Automatic Gain Control) may be defective.
Now I have two choices: shop for another VoIP provider or purchase my own adapter.
While I agree VoIPYourLife may be considered for a low price, free international calls to many countries, overall service reliability and probably can be made to work since they allow BYOD devices on their network, but do not count on their Customer Service at all. Just sign in and if you can make it to work right - good for you. If you can't - look somewhere else.

Allow me to amend my initial REVIEW...
After discussing my concerns with the management... they expediently prioritized my issues... and the service quality has improved satisfactorily.
One point I MUST underline... the management at VoIP Your Life are really making an effort to insure that Customer Service is Grade A. There is an individual in that company in management who is ABSOLUTELY Grade A.
If this company continues to prioritize all their customers as they have me... then this is a good choice as they make progress technologically.

Ok. I have been a customer with VoIP Your Life for four (4)months. Was genuinely estatic when I found them on the Internet back in early January. Found the people who signed me up to pleasant and friendly. One Customer Service person there is absolutely FANTASTIC! Why did I socre they POORLY?
1.) International calling is a NIGHTMARE... a HORROR SHOW. One has to call endlessly before one can reach certain countries. Most of my calls are international so this has been a NIGHTMARE.
2.) Too often when I do get through... I have to call back because the quality is so poor on the upload... even though I have sufficient bandwidth... that I have to call back again.
3.) The Technical Support department for this company... is PATHETIC... the are RUDE in the EXTREME! They do NOT know how to talk to the customer... NO, they don't. Very seldom would one find one of them saying, "oops we goofed." NEVER! It is always... "oh it is your cable company, it's your bandwidth, oh it's because you are outside of the country"... and on and on and on and on.
If you can afford it... go with AT&T Call Vantage. They are SUPREME in this space. Hands down! Trophies raised. I left them because they are too EXPENSIVE! They ALWAYS work... the BEST technology on the market... but they are too EXPENSIVE to use! Also, they had discontinued roaming outside of the US. They halted use of their VoIP for international use... that was also another reason why I "dropped them like it was HOT!"
VoIP Your Life is as most of these companies in the space... new and growing... in a FEW years they will ALL be FANTASTIC! The catch is... which one is leading the pack, it is NOT VoIP Your Life.
Also I was behind U$27.00 on one account... and the cut me off even though my other account was paid up. They were informed that my credit card would be available to recover the U$27.00 before my next billing cycle and they still shut me down... OVER EASTER... now go figure!

I have only had one other VOIP service...Vonage, I tried their 30 day free trial, and during that time period I read many negative reviews...mostly how they charge you a cancellation fee if you terminate service and many other hidden fees.
So I decided to switch to Voip Your Life before that happened to me & so far the Customer Service & Tech Support have been Awesome! There has been NO dropped calls and every call has the quality of a land line! They even give you an X-Lite soft phone for your Laptop to be used as another phone if you are out of town or country! I am VERY Satisified! I do hope they soon show a caller's name along with the number on caller ID....although customer service claims that feature is coming soon~
