Couldnt be much better
I read a lot reviews, and waited 3 months before getting my first VOIP system.  I have had this new PhonePower.com system connected for 4 days, and it is perfect so far.
I use a SMC Router directly connected to a standard 5 meg Charter supplied cable modem.  I ordered the HT502 VOIP adapter from PhonePower, which was free except for $14.95 shipping and handeling. (a bit high, but I suspect it pays for the unit also)
Ignoring the instructions I connected the adapter to an available port on my router.  I plugged in a spare phone to the adapter and connected its power supply.  I waited till the green lights showed up, picked up the phone and it just plain worked!  I did some test calls... sound quality was perfect... not good, I mean perfect.  Identical to the AT&T line.
By connecting the adapter downstream from the router I did not have to disturb the existing 5 computers I have connected to it. (8 port router).  I considered this a huge bonus, as I had planned on an afternoon of resetting, and sorting out IP address issues.  As it turns out I did not put a rating in for their tech support above, because I've never talked to them since it worked right out of the box!
With the taxes, shipping, fees, etc... my total charge was (advertised at $199) $253.26 for 24 months of unlimited service... thats still only works out to be $10.55/month.
Lessons Learned that might help others:
1. Order whatever the companies recommended adaptor is.  DONT try to use an existing one... unless you can verify you have an exact matching model and firmware level with customer support in advance.
2. Order the transfer of your current phone number to be at least  10 days in the future.  This way, there is time for the adaptor to arrive and you can set it up immediately and test outgoing calls and has good quality with your setup BEFORE the phone company transfers your number.  This will give you a little cushion to resolve any issues.  Then when the transfer day comes you just need to attach the primary house line and you are done.  If they connection cannot be resolved you can call your existing phone company and cancel the number transfer.

Got phone power? Welcome to beta testing!
I have been using them as my office phone system for 5 months now and would not recomend it to anybody at all.
Their system is a mess. I am unable to set up my attendant because they have 'an issue' that they are aware of and supposedly have been working on for 19 days. They steal 30 minutes of my workday EVERY DAY: I can't set my phone to work from 8-5! It has to be 8:30-5!
Yet they are pissed that I keep calling every week to ask why it's not fixed.
When I was porting my number they assured there will be no outgage - my phone was a dead line for 6 hours.
They introduce new featuers every month so it looks good in comparison to other providers but they don't care if they work or not.
The supervisor of development department doesn't seem to see it as a problem.
They advertise it as unlimited, but it is not - you get 5000 minutes and I'm getting close to the limit.

Issues I had with them:

Auto Attendant: Hours can't be specified from 8-5: NOT FIXED (19 days now)
Scheduled Overide: Buggy can't set up 'on call' system for my company: NOT FIXED
Call Log:  Stopped working one day: FIXED
Random Erros on Web Page: NEW! just started appearing, didn't have time to call them: NOT FIXED

Somtimes I think with sentiment about back when I had Embarq and just pressed *72 to transfer the phone when I left the office. At least it worked and I didn't need a team of developers fixing it every day.

-When it works it's really good, however that's not the case very often.-Easy to set up-Super cheap and super easy international calling
-100% Unreliable-New problem every week-Bunch of IT guys living in a different reality

Phone Power - great price and excellent phone service
We have used Phone Power since December of 2008 (over 4 months now). It is all good. The price is exceptional. Sound quality of calls is excellent. We can't think of any negatives to the change. We get super phone service (with all the features the typical user could want) for a very fair price. Set up was trivial: take the adaptor out of the box, connect it, start making calls. The web interface works fine for setting up speed dials, etc. Our one call to technical support wasn't even for tech support but was answered quickly, helpfully, and politely. We would recommend that anyone considering VOIP take a serious look at Phone Power.

I did not sign up for their service yet, but I was impressed with their honesty.  I've been having quality issues with AT&T for faxing so we are switching to VoIP.  When I told the sales girl with Phone Power that it would be used for faxing, she immediately warned me that they do not completely support faxing at the time of my call.  The hold time was not too bad, just a few minutes for sales.  She spoke clear English, which was a huge relief, and the price she gave me was very competitive from what I've seen.  I just wish they could guarantee their service for faxing.

Excellent VOIP Provider
There have been a lot of reviews of PhonePower that are just rubbish, particularly from some idiot, (http://www.whichvoip.com/voip/user_reviews/phone_power_voip_review.htm, review date of Jan. 15, 2009), who wrote essentially a book on why he doesn't like PhonePower that is just nonsensical and full of inaccuracies (and to this moronic reviewer, no I don't work for PhonePower). Having previously had Verizon VoiceWing for over a year until receiving notice they were shutting down, I did extensive research on VOIP providers. What attracted me to PhonePower was the price ($200 for 2 years including a cloned line for unlimited minutes, well almost, 5000 outgoing, unlimited incoming), the ease of use on their web site, the fact that their customer service and tech support is U.S. based (yeah!!), the fact that in addition to having the ability to enter chats with their customer service and tech support that they will automatically email the chat text to you (indicating that they are not afraid to stand behind what they tell you in a chat) and the fact that they have a forum on DSLReports.com that solicits user input. I had been considering Broadvoice as my brother swears by them (and they appear to be a good company also), but PhonePower's price and ease of contact won me over. Plus, unless Broadvoice and other VOIP providers, PhonePower does not charge an activation fee (activations fees are total ripoffs).
As far as my experience with them goes, first they ported my number on the day I selected, always a good sign. Second, I had some issues with my Actiontec MI424WR (a real POS router in my opinion) and Verizon FIOS, which they were able to work around. The ATA PhonePower sent me used, the Grandstream HT502, is a better device than the Linksys PAP2 that I used with VoiceWing. I am able to access the HT502's web page to view status and can configure Basic Settings. The Advanced Settings tabs can not be accessed by users but that is understandable as VOIP novices could really screw things up. However, if you are knowledgeable (or even if you're not) in the ways of VOIP and SIP, you can BYOD with PhonePower just fine and configure away your device to your heart's content.
In terms of voice quality, its is as good or better than what my POTS line used to be and better than VoiceWing (I understand to some they may not be saying much but VoiceWing, while not great, was not that bad). I can't speak to the quality of other VOIP providers, but I know that the most important factors are you broadband speeds (up and down) and the quality of your ATA. Having FIOS I get outstanding rates and I can also adjust my QoS settings in my ActionTec (one thing it is good for), both which certainly contribute to the excellent quality I get. But in any event, PhonePower is doing nothing to stand in the way of my voice quality. In terms of features, their voice mail, both over the phone and on their web site is easy to use and I also receive emails of my voice mail. The cloned line is terrific. It means my wife and I can both be on the phone at the same time with having only one number (very convenient). Calls are properly routed, both incoming and outgoing. And their customer service and tech support and responsive and professional
In sum, I am very happy with PhonePower and you should not pay any attention to any review that slams them.

I tried Phonepower after reading other reviews and the deal with the cloned line for two years for only $200.  That's a good deal, but with some problems.    Returned device (make sure you return via a trackable shipper-UPS, Fedex, etc.) but I had to prove THEY received it... Then I had to call and DEMAND a refund (within my 30 day trial).... They're making me jump through hoops to get my refund and not a good feeling.  I want to recommend the service, but their retun policy makes me think otherwise.
I've tried Vonage ($25/mo), Phonepower ($200/2 years) and now I'm with T-mobile-at-Home ($10/mo) since my cell provider is Tmobile. Tmobile has best customer service (Like wow, that's awesome.....thanks for using T-mobile....), their feature set isn't as good, no website configuration possible-yet.  Must call in to change ring-settings, etc.
The quality on Tmobile At Home is as good as Vonage, better than Phonepower.
I can't recommend PhonePower after I went through the cancellation process.  They were good up until you want to cancel, then they make you jump through hoops.... not fun.
I'd recommend T-mobile if you already have cell service with them, otherwise go with PhonePower if price matters, but quality will suffer.

Inexpensive, less than $10/month; Cloned Line is Cool; Nice feature set (not as easy to naviate/use as Vonage, but similar features); Easy setup; Better customer service than Vonage; Tech Support is great; Inexpensive (yeah, it is a good deal)
Return process is stacked against you....beware and document/copy everything-TWICE!; Takes awhile for device to sync then activate (power failures, reboots, etc) Avg about 5 minutes! Vonage is less than 60 seconds.; Static/Delay on Calls; Cal Forwarding/Simultaneous Ring is complicated/cumbersome to setup, doesn't always work; Device must be ahead of any rounters on network (possible attack from internet?); Very Limited access to the Router Software (can change fixed IP, DHCP, password....nothing else!); Doesn't work with T-Mobile Blackberry 8800 & CallerID (won't forward CID info to Tmobile....Tmobiles fault, but an issue!); Trial starts day of order, not delivery date; Fax doesn't work over PhonePower voip, but works across Vonage fine.

Great Service--Although a bit inconsistent
We have had this service since July of 2008.  We switched from Packet8 which provides horrible service with archaic technology.  I was very pleased with the ease of the installation and how well the simultaneous ring has worked.
One concern is that calls sometimes drop before they can even get answered.  I have had people tell me that they were unable to get through.  This has proven to be only a minor inconvenience.
I can't comment on customer service because I have never felt like I had a real need to use them.  Unless service gets poorer, we will probably renew our contract when the time comes.

Very, very easy to install, equipment arrived quickly, simultaneous ring works very well, easy to use.
Calls frequently drop out before they can even be answered; I have had people tell me they couldn't get through.

Pretty good service at a really good price
I work in the VOIP industry.  So, I consider myself a pretty good critic.  Phone Power is pretty good so far.  Overall, best deal out there right now!  I wish the VoIP industry had a better offering for those in need of residential security monitoring.  I know many others are like me - ready to completely make the switch, but not if my homeowners insurance is going to go up or if I'm going to have to pay tons of money to my home alarm monitoring company.  Oh well...

The price I got was VERY good.  Although, I notice that one-year price is not currently available.  I hope something gets offered within the next few months, so I can re-up. Voice quality is great.  But, being in the industry, I knew that would be the case already.
I occasionally receive problems with complex call flows (i.e. flash hook switching on call waiting, outgoing call on cloned line while call is in progress on primary line, call hold, etc).  I believe the media resources are not being shared properly between the two lines by the 'box' (the IAD).  No biggie, but sometimes annoying. I'm slightly disappointed that Phone Power does not provide a bit more user control over services.  Selective call forwarding (by caller number) would be an obvious improvement.  Or, did I overlook it?

The Skinny

Phone Power offers residential and international plans on top of VoIP hardware installation guides in order to meet all of your calling needs. Their home phone service is the same plan with three different pricing tiers, and offers you nearly unlimited calling throughout the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. You can even keep your current phone number with Phone Power's residential calling plan! Phone Power also has three International plans available, and depending on how many countries you call determines what plan is right for you.

If you aren't satisfied with their service, Phone Power offers its customers a 30 Day money back guarantee.

the rub

The Rub

For home phone service, Phone Power provides consumers with the USA/Canada Unlimited Calling plan. If you are willing to sign a long-term contract, Phone Power can guarantee lower monthly rates. Then again, their monthly package isn’t exorbitant, either, so you can't go wrong with affordable phone service whether or not you want to sign a contract with Phone Power.

Each unlimited plan, regardless of the term (1 year prepay, 1 year contract, or monthly) will get you virtually unlimited calling. You can make and receive inbound calls without a limit, and are granted 60 minutes a month of international calling. Plus, with their USA/Canada Unlimited Calling plan, Phone Power provides a mobile phone app, free activation, and a free cloned second line.

bottom line image

Bottom Line

If you know that you need a dependable VoIP phone service that will help you save money, opt for the 1-year prepay to save the most money. However, be sure to consult Phone Power's website As a trustworthy and reputable residential VoIP provider for ten years, they can provide you the phone service and customer support that you require to stay connected. Plus, their support team is 100% US-based, and their website offers e-guides as well as tech support chat.

While the monthly rate is entirely affordable and much less than a traditional phone provider, taxes, fees, shipping, and handling still apply to your order.

Our Two Cents

Phone Power makes it easy to have an affordable residential VoIP phone system. They offer three differnet payment options in their USA/Canada plans: a Monthly Average (as a 1-year prepay), a 12-Month Term, and a No Contract option. This makes it easy for users to choose a term that they are most comfortable with. Even still, Phone Power offers a 30-Day money back guarantee to its customers. These calling plans also offer customers the option to keep their current number for free, when other providers do so for a charge.

Phone Power's residential VoIP plans also have a mobile phone app, faxing capabilities, and free activation on top of many calling features. Your calling plan also comes with an allotted number of internationl minutes per month for calling to select countries. One thing unique to Phone Power is that they give you a free second cloned line with your service, which allows you to make or receive calls using the same phone number.
