Was a Champion customer (they used Level 3 as their backbone) and life was good -- excellent actually. Nexboom took over, no more faxing, no more distinctive ring feature, no more good customer service, people complain to me that when they are ringing me the tone is disruptive, I have plenty of dropped calls now, level 1 tech support is awful, then sit in the que for level two tech support. From what I can disect, Nexboom has Nuvio provide their VoIP service, who contracts out to various backbone providers depending on circumstance. In summary I've put up with it long enough and am switching to Packet 8 as they use Level 3, Inc. for their backbone (like Champion did.)
I had service for years with Champion, no problems. Since the Nexboom switch, service quality is horrible, no fax either, and when I canceled service, they continued to charge me for months and finally, when they stopped, charged me a $19.99 disconnect fee after years of service. Please think hard before using nexboom.
We started working with IDT in 2016. They tout serving over 32 billion minutes annually and 4 route divisions to choose from. The route divisions are irrelevant however, here I will explain why: The level of service/quality you *actually* receive depends on how greedy your Account Manager is, and the genie behind the curtain that changes up the routes to accommodate their desired margins. The end result of course is route instability and frequent calls to your support desk from angry customers reporting issues ranging from False Answer Service to calls not completing to legitimate destinations and wondering why they are paying for Platinum service only to receive problems typically associated with Silver-grade routes. With IDT we'd literally pass weeks at a time without issues, and suddenly a range of issues with many different destinations arise at the same time. We submit the ticket and the issue would eventually be resolved, but only after waiting > 24 hours for a response. In the IDT Express portal you are able to select which routing division, but in the end IDT simply does not honor your selection, and will route your traffic over the routes they choose behind the scene. It's really a pointless set up they offer. Go with Tata, NTT or BT if your customers' satisfaction is paramount.
