Phone Power Review
I was about to give up on VOIP until I was recommended Phone Power. As far as useability goes, they had the easiest set up for both hardware and software that I've come across (In my three previous companies, I've had experience with three different VOIP providers.)  Phone Power had the best pricing by far.

Overall, I'd recommend PhonePower very highly.  So far I've had only one dropped call out of well over 100 made so far, and the voice quality is quite good....approaching that of the digital cable phone we were using previously (at about 1/10 of the price!!)

Absolute worst experience I have had. Phone power was my third VOIP provider  and in seven days was only able to get a busy signal on dial out. Their service support is not there. Their phone lines will disconnect you after being on hold for 20 minutes  and anyone who can get through in less time either works for them or is a magician. I belived the hype and signed up with them for a year but have already cancelled. They did not port the second number I requested but just as well since nothing worked, The number they did port will not ring, it does sometimes roll over to my cell phone and sometimes it gives the caller a busy signal. What a mess. The support technicians when I did get through talked to me like I was an idiot and did not seem to care if I got my line working or not.I just wish I could give them less than 1 star.

Love PhonePower
I've had the service now for over a month and i would classify myself as a heavy phone user; work from home; software engineer; lots of conference calling, coupled with heavy use of the broadband connection simultaneously.  Their phone adapter is a kind of "set it and forget it" adapter, you plug it in and it just works.  Plus they have an 18month special for $199.00, that's like 9$/month for unlimited phone service.

PhonePower is not without its flaws
The price is right but tech support availability is poor. The hardware they provided worked fine to start out -- but failed within 60 days. Because the failure occurred on a busy week for me when I was tied up during the hours their tech support is open and spanning a weekend, it was over a week before the service was restored.
Almost all of my other service providers (internet, TV, etc) have 24x7 tech support -- even if their sales offices keep regular business hours.  Phone Power reverses that -- they're always available to sell you the service (24x7) but if you have problems, they'll only help you fix them on THEIR schedule (NOT late at night, and NOT weekends).
If you have some other service to fall-back upon (cell phones, etc) so that a protracted outage is not a problem, and if you have time to deal with tech support calls in the middle of your own work day or in the early evenings then don't worry about it -- the price is right.  But if that level of service and support is problematic for you, you should think carefully about how much outage and inconvenience it is worth to you in order to save a few dollars on a monthly bill.

Wonderful phone service!I've had Phone Power for two weeks now. It's a vast improvement over my old wired phone service. Audio quality is much better. People on the other end of the line comment how good my new service is and I can clearly here everyone else now. Phone Power made it so easy to switch over as well. It took about a week to shift my phone number from my old wired service to the new VoIP service with Power Phone doing all the work. My phone service switched on the day they told me it would and I was only out of phone service for about an hour. I went ahead and paid for a year of service with 6 months free. 18 months with no phone bills showing up and I would have paid the same for 5 months of the crappy wired phone service.

It's all good!

Excellent!I have Verizon FIOS internet service. I was paying over $40 per month for my phone line, which used the fiber. Now I pay $15 a month and have more computer based features. The sound quality is unchanged from my previous Verizon service. The setup was easy and I have my same number.

Could not choose number, software buggySince I could not choose a phone number, I was given an area code that is technically local to my area, but not the area code all my friends use. So my friends have to dial three extra numbers to call me. The PhonePower customer service refused to fix this problem for me. Also, PhonePower's software is not the best. The website is buggy and the router interface is confusing. Their help/support documentation is very sketchy and not organized very well.

OverchargesI just noticed my card was billed for overcharges. They didn't contact me to inform me about the 2000 minute policy. When I joined that wasn't on the site. There panel doesnt allow you to check minutes or view a detailed call log. I took my phone off the hook before leaving on a trip. I really believe they charged me for that. The sound quality was fair but phone was down alot. Avoid this scam.

The Skinny

Phone Power offers residential and international plans on top of VoIP hardware installation guides in order to meet all of your calling needs. Their home phone service is the same plan with three different pricing tiers, and offers you nearly unlimited calling throughout the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. You can even keep your current phone number with Phone Power's residential calling plan! Phone Power also has three International plans available, and depending on how many countries you call determines what plan is right for you.

If you aren't satisfied with their service, Phone Power offers its customers a 30 Day money back guarantee.

the rub

The Rub

For home phone service, Phone Power provides consumers with the USA/Canada Unlimited Calling plan. If you are willing to sign a long-term contract, Phone Power can guarantee lower monthly rates. Then again, their monthly package isn’t exorbitant, either, so you can't go wrong with affordable phone service whether or not you want to sign a contract with Phone Power.

Each unlimited plan, regardless of the term (1 year prepay, 1 year contract, or monthly) will get you virtually unlimited calling. You can make and receive inbound calls without a limit, and are granted 60 minutes a month of international calling. Plus, with their USA/Canada Unlimited Calling plan, Phone Power provides a mobile phone app, free activation, and a free cloned second line.

bottom line image

Bottom Line

If you know that you need a dependable VoIP phone service that will help you save money, opt for the 1-year prepay to save the most money. However, be sure to consult Phone Power's website As a trustworthy and reputable residential VoIP provider for ten years, they can provide you the phone service and customer support that you require to stay connected. Plus, their support team is 100% US-based, and their website offers e-guides as well as tech support chat.

While the monthly rate is entirely affordable and much less than a traditional phone provider, taxes, fees, shipping, and handling still apply to your order.

Our Two Cents

Phone Power makes it easy to have an affordable residential VoIP phone system. They offer three differnet payment options in their USA/Canada plans: a Monthly Average (as a 1-year prepay), a 12-Month Term, and a No Contract option. This makes it easy for users to choose a term that they are most comfortable with. Even still, Phone Power offers a 30-Day money back guarantee to its customers. These calling plans also offer customers the option to keep their current number for free, when other providers do so for a charge.

Phone Power's residential VoIP plans also have a mobile phone app, faxing capabilities, and free activation on top of many calling features. Your calling plan also comes with an allotted number of internationl minutes per month for calling to select countries. One thing unique to Phone Power is that they give you a free second cloned line with your service, which allows you to make or receive calls using the same phone number.
