Firstly, I like the convenience of eFAX.  I do not have a fax machine, but only a scanner and a computer.  I can send fax's from my computer however I would get charged the exorbitant international rates from the phone company here in Taiwan and I wish to avoid that at all costs.  In fact, even with the subscription fee, I saved money because I had about 20 pages to fax to 3 different places in the US; my school, a financial institution, and a law firm.  Each one required my signature and one out of three would not send a fax internationally to me and I didn't want to pay the international costs of the other documents that would come to me. Secondly, eFAX was a service that solved a delicate problem for me because they have the option of having a local domestic USA Fax number to where the fax's could be directed to me.  This really saved me as I had a deadline to meet to get these documents and my university would under no circumstances send a fax to me internationally. Thirdly, I like the cost involved.  This is not an expensive service for the service rendered!  If you do a lot of faxing and do not have a fax mcahine, eFAX is definitely the way to go.  So, all in all, I have been really pleased with eFAX.  It has been a very convenient service that turns your email into a fax machine. It is inexpensive and so far, it has been efficient as I have received and sent all of the fax's that I had to (all 20 pages) without any problems.  I recommend eFAX to anyone who does not have  a fax machine and has a limited number of fax's to send  Give it a try.  I think you will be pleased as I have been. The service works great (without even considering the low price which is a bonus). It's easy to register and they allow you to bring your adapter BUT DON'T. Only do it if you know how to configure a SIP ATA. They will give you the username/password to configure your adapter but there are other settings that they don't mention like nat settings etc. So, if you don't know what you are doing just buy the thing from them. It's not worth saving $20 to configure it yourself. I have tried multiple adapters like the Linksys PAP2 and even my Asterisk box. It works with all of them given you know how to set it up. However, I decided to try their own adapter too just because!!! It's a Grandstream HT 286 box (but one of my friend got a Linksys 1001 so I guess they work with different vendors). It was $50 to get it from them which is not far from eBay. (You can probably get one from eBay for 25-30 but you have to know what you are doing The voice quality is very good and I have never had a disconnection. They also have an indicator (a gray/green light) on their website that shows if your device is online. Google transcribe your voicemails and set it to your email. This is pretty good as you are able to read your voicemails (as oppose to listening to them). Their features beat the hell out of vonage or phone.com(well to be fair they are using Google's features. Vonage and other guys can't compete with Google in their dreams).
