COMPETITORS TO VONAGE

We originally published this article a long time ago (In 2005 or so). It's time for an update.

Read that updated article here: Competitors to Vonage in 2011.

Vonage is a reputable VoIP service provider that has gained momentum in the past year.  However other competitors to Vonage offer outstanding service and savings as well.  The key for any business owner is to research the differences in what each VoIP provider offers so you can choose the best plan for your business and not just a cookie-cutter solution.

Competitors to Vonage include many smaller start-ups such as DeltaTree, Net2Phone and 8x8 all offering a quality approach to VoIP while saving you money.  One of the challenges with Vonage and competitors of Vonage is that pushing through to national markets is a challenge in that they are up against giants such as Bellsouth, Verizon and Qwest.

The other challenge for Vonage and competitors of Vonage is that the bigger VoIP service providers are able to offer small businesses nice discounts while this is difficult for the smaller stand-alone VoIP provider.  In fact in the past year there have been major battles regarding price with many of the larger competitors to Vonage offering plans that Vonage simply cannot match.

Even the smaller competitors of Vonage are finding ways to capture a niche in the market.  For example Net2Phone, which was founded in 1996, offers a full line of VoIP solutions perfect for the business owner.  Since Net2Phone takes care of many behind the scene activities you can focus on maturing your business and not on worrying about your VoIP Service.

Net2Phone, a competitor of Vonage, offers some unique solutions for your business needs.  For instance they have a calling card program, value-added services such as prefix dialing, pre- or post-paid alternative long-distance calling and carrier services.

Another competitor of Vonage that has built a strong presence is DeltaTree.  This company was also founded in 1996 and offers outstanding products and services for the business owner.  Products include phone-to-phone, PC-to-phone and broadband phone solutions.  The back-office suite is incredible, providing services such as marketing support, billing, network management and operations management, which are offered under a turnkey approach.

8x8 is another competitor of Vonage that has a strong market presence.  This particular company offers full-line voice and video communication services both easy to use and quite affordable.  Once you sign up for 8x8 you will receive a special adapter that you plug into your phone line for your VoIP service.  You then choose a new phone number for your business from a rate center of your choice allowing you to enjoy unlimited calling in the United States and Canada for a low monthly fee.
