Windstream (Winstream Holdings, Inc., NASDAQ: WIN: $7.90), a leading provider of advanced network communications and technology solutions for consumers, enterprises, and wholesale providers across the U.S, announced in November 2016 that they reached a deal to acquire Atlanta-based telecommunications company EarthLink (Earthlink Holdings, NASDAQ: ELNK: $5.98). Now a few months later, it seems that the companies are one step closer to finalizing the merger as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has recently given a clean antitrust review bill of health to the proposed merger.

Leading cloud networking provider GTT communications has agreed to acquire submarine cable provider Hibernia Networks for $590 million in cash and stock.
Under the terms of the agreement, $515 million will be paid by GTT in cash, and about 3.3 million shares of GTT common stock, which is valued at $75 million, will be issued to the sellers at closing. The deal, expected to close by the end of first quarter of 2017, is set to scale GTT’s IP network and customer reach.
In line with its mission to rid the world of desk phones, San Francisco-based cloud communications solutions provider Dialpad recently inked an alliance with SoftBank Corp. to bring Dialpad’s pure-cloud business communications solution to Japan.
The deal enables Softbank, a multinational Japanese telecommunications and Internet corporation, to offer Dialpad to its customers. It also makes Dialpad the first pure cloud communications provider to enter into the Japanese market, which is one of the largest economies and technology markets in the world.
