HAPPY with JACK
Posted on: Dec 10, 2012
Pros
This service is as reliable as the Dry line you have installed it to. I am VERY satisfied on the whole, and have delt with the inconvenience of loosing the ISP provider once in a while. This can be inconvenient, but not bad all things considered. I can actually afford to use the phone and it IS RELIABLE!!All folks on a fixed income should get one of these and not a free cell phone. This is easy to install and you can port your old phone number. Had my number for years. Now I dont have the huge bill. Technical Service is excellent over the phone or computer.Re-Boot Monthly.
Cons
When the internet goes down, HAVE A BACK-UP PLAN!!! For the BEST Sound quality Re-Boot monthly. Gets a lot of BAD SPONSORED NEGATIVE PRESS for the Competition. SOUR GRAPES. Go BUY a MJ for yourself and the person you want most to speak frequently with. Best BUY EVER!!!
I JUST LOVE MY MJ!!!!! Period! It had done what they said it could do . It is the CHEAPEST SOLUTION . It is as reliable as my internet provider. I have enjoyed the Regular MJ and the PLUS. I have LOVED them both. Used daily and I travel with mine too.
I started with one in 2008 it was good so I decided to use it for business and bought 5 more to manage business. Troubles started last August, when one of them needed to be renewed, I tried to add a year to my subscription and couldn't so I started to chat with a live agent. They told me that my account is under review and I CAN NOT renew it and I have to wait for an email telling me it is done and I can renew. sFor almost FIVE months they did not finish this endless review and the lines are falling one after the other.

Good price, horrible customer service
Posted on: Dec 06, 2012
Pros
For the price, this is a great deal. It was easy to set-up.
Cons
Customer service is horrible!
Since I upgraded to plus, I receive a message that a phone number expired before getting a dial tone (my old account). No one is nice on the chat, they will not provide a phone number or a manager to speak with. Honestly don't have anything nice to say about their customer service. Guess you get what you pay for.
Pros
Great price, iPhone app to make your number 'portable'.
Cons
As mentioned in other reviews, they have hidden fee's that are not presented anywhere on the site. Service is useless if you have an issue...
Warning: If you port your number to them for $20, they will 'EXTORT' an additional $10 a year to keep 'your' number. Not mentioned anywhere on their site, support says it's in their Terms of Service, but they would not say what paragraph when I pulled it up with them... It's not there!!! I renewed for 5 years for a great price, and then looking at my page it shows my service is good for 5 years out but then had a 'renew your number' button next to the phone number itself that shows it expires this month!
Pros
Very inexpensive. Portable. Good sound quality. Best value for the cost I have ever seen.
Cons
Inconvenience of having to turn on computer was fixed with majicjack plus.I
I have used majicjack for two years. It is excellent in performance and value. I obtained a MJ with local number and mailed it to my relatives in Europe. We talk for hours free with call quality as good as pots line. All transactions with the co were as promised so customer service has been done well the first time with no problems. Fantastic value.
I absolutely love my magicJack PLUS. I am a student and now I can talk to family and friends around the country and not have to worry about my phone bill.
Also, I love that voicemails are emailed to me once they are received! Fantastic!
It is cheap and easy to use. Sure there are going to be times when the audio quality is not great, mainly due to varying Internet speeds. But, so what? Just hang up and call again. It's not going to cost me anything additional.
Carry on paying hundreds of Dollars for your phone bill. I'm happy with my magicJack PLUS.
Pros
When I bought MagicJack less than a year ago the price was inexpensive. The sound is good, I'm saving $35.00 or $40.00 a month. To me the quality is as good as att, but............
Cons
There is NO customer service, despite what the ads claim. As long as you're not having a problem, everything is fine. If you do, you can search the universe , but no one has found a customer service person yet. Also, from day one the phone jack opening in the Magic Jack device was too large, so it would fall out and we would be without phone service. We would tape it every few days, but it would fall out. I took it to Radio Shack and they said it was M.J. that was defective, not the phone jack.
What service? Where is the provider ? I cannot even remember all the important messages we missed and the problems it caused. Now I am trying to decide whether I want to chance buying another one.

Magicjack held my number hostage when I wanted to cancel!!!
Posted on: Nov 26, 2012
Pros
It was a cheap alternative to a regular monthly bill. Easy install and activation.
Cons
Horrible customer service and "policies".
This company charged me to port in my number from AT&T, okay fine $20. Unfortunately my internet provider Hughesnet said this new Gen4 internet service could easily support VOIP, well it can't. Advanced support said they are trying to figure out the problems/bugs with no solution so far at Hughes. Ok so I tell Magicjack the issue, and explain to them that the phone cuts out so badly that I am basically without a phone. Obviously if Hughes fixes the problem I would return as a customer, right? NO.
magicjack gives you exactly what they promise, cheap and reliable phone service. I have been using the product for about two months now and do not have any complaints. If you want to get away from the monthly phone bills from you land line provider, give magicjack a try.
the account you're using doesnt have admin rights, right click run as administrator. Should resolve error 3. U may have to boot into safe mode (f8 just before windows loads, when u turn comp on), then logon with administrator, right click computer, choose manage, local users and groups, groups, administrators, add the account you use to members. Click ok, reboot. Right click the setup and run as administrator. Goood to go.
I’m trying to get my family to go to it so this why I’m here. If more people would post when they have a positive experience, I wouldn’t have to search out the bad posts to tell the truth. Vista problems? Set right up for me. Dropped calls? The MJ doesn’t drop the calls, your modem/router does. Sound quality? Excellent. Features? Caller ID, call forwarding, voice mail, phone number porting, free local and long distance, I can keep going. www.magic-jack.com/category/magic-jack-plus/ This is by a unbiased test. “Our tests show that the magicJack Plus works incredibly well” A $70 investment, $10 to port YOUR number, versus $60/month. Then $30 a year after. The reason you see negative posts is because You can’t figure out the problem. It’s junk? It’s performed exceptional well. Won’t operate credit card machines. I see more “yes it does” than no it wont. Fax machines? I see slow the baud rate and it works fine. “Won’t call numbers in your area code” I’d be uninstalling the drives, rebooting, reinstalling them and trying it again. If that doesn’t work I’d ask them to replace it and try again. I see the complaining but what steps were taken by YOU? So there support is by chat. Have you bought a computer lately? Or TV? Surprise! It’s an incredible device that hooked up correctly and a good internet speed can save you a lot of money. I don’t regret it for a minute! The majority of bad reviews are by disgruntled users. You hear the bad but not the good because if your happy you don’t seek attention.
Their customer service is just awful. They are incompetent in their billing too. Six months after I paid for the 5 year fee, they say I owe more money. And they are rude about it. I regret ever getting their service and as soon as the 5 years is up I'm leaving. Their quality is not good, dropped calls, people can't hear you, you can't hear them, some numbers you can't call at all and get some stupid announcement. But it was cheap enough that I'd put up with it and now six months later saying I owe more money going back TWO YEARS is the last straw. I hate Magic Jack and will spend the rest of my days telling everyone how bad they suck.
