Magic Jack - We've all heard the saying, 'You get what you pay for,' and it's become increasingly clear that magicJack is no exception. Sure, it appears to be a small, crafty device claiming to change the world of communications for a ridiculously low annual fee, but the reality is you may find yourself down and out after ordering from this company.

Most dishonest people I've ever dealt with

Pros:

Nothing but price and for what that meant to me, I would have rather just thrown that money in the garbage.

Cons:

The place is obviously a mess and their sales information is filled with bear traps.  They tell you a half truth or leave out the most important detail only to cheat you later with the hidden truths.  When officers of the company lie to customers, you know it's a bad company.

Still trying to get my money back with no luck.Today I spent over 2 hours trying to get an address to send the MagicJacks back since I cant get their site to work for chat except for technical support.  The first guy I chatted with actually refused to help me close my account and was never willing to give me an address to return the equipment.  He then turned the chat over to another fellow who eventually and reluctantly gave me the information I needed, now that's after threatening to send the printed chat to the CFO so he knows how they treat people. Before that chat session, I did talk to the CFO (Peter Russo at (561) 722-0433 or (561) 586-3380) who promised to return the funds to my account and was about to hang up when I reminded him that in order to do so he might need my name and account information.  He then assured me he would take care of it immediately.  Needles to say he did nothing and obviously did nothing but lie to me. Bottom line, if things dont happen to go well, you dont stand a chance.  Their 30 Day Free Trial Period has nothing to do with free, they withdrew funds from my account the day I got my jack in the mail though on their site they say they dont even charge your account till AFTER the 30 days like Free Trail should be.  Oh and incidentally, be careful what you believe and doubt everything; the 30 Day Free Trial Period starts the day you order the jack.  then if you dont pay the extra shipping and handling they drag their feet getting it to you so you assume you have 30 days to actually try it and get stuck paying the 39.95 because you only had a week or a little more to try it instead of the 30 days.  All these little hidden bear traps are hidden in their Q&A section; their infomercial and sales literature are deceptive lies to lure you in and take your money.  Once they have your credit card number and are hiding behind "chat only" communications; you're out of luck and they can do whatever they want to you.Believe me, I'm going through it.  When the CFO is lying and scamming, you know you're in trouble.

Impossible to do business with

Reviewed by: wboggs

I signed up less than a week ago for their 30 day FREE trial and within days of ordering, they took the funds from my checking account (which will cause checks to bounce) and refuse to correct the situation until I send the unit back.  This situation is contrary to their own policies in their Q&A section on tier web site which stated that they wont charge your credit card till the 30 day period is over.Negotiating via live chat is worthless, you have no ability to have them consider their mistake, they just hide behind a keyboard and screw you.  If I'm counting on this as my home telephone, I need reasonably honest people who respond to problems; especially if they are the cause of the problem.  I dont care how much they can save me, I dont deal with dishonest swindlers. Also, I made a long distance phone call and could barely hear the person on the other end.  It reminded me of 10 years ago computer phone calls first started.  Locally it seemed to be OK but as a company, they suck.

Stay away - IT DOESN'T WORK

Pros:

Cheap - A good concept with plenty of features.

Cons:

They are screwed up. The unit is unreliable as ids the service. The people you chat with can barely communicate. I'm not sure they are really there.

Stay away from this service. The quality of the call is terrible and the customer service is almost non existent. It does not work. The calls have echoes and most of the time the person you are calling cannot hear you. My unit stopped working a month ago and I am still waiting for someone to call me about a replacement. I am going back to Skype for travel.

Magic Jack Flawed

Reviewed by: hitwriter

You get what you pay for...  in this case incredibly poor customer service...  features like call forwarding and VM that don't work over half the time!  I made the mistake of assuming after a 3 month trial that everthing was OK... Invound and ootbound calls are fine if you are sitting at your PC. So I cancelled my land line and retooled my marketing with the Magic Jack Number not knowing that call forwarding and VM were not working 80% of the time...  repeated chat only tech support has yeilded no solution other than the same old promise of having it fixed in 24-48 hours.  Agents are multi chatting...  taking forever.  When I asked for an address and the current CEO so I could write a formal letter they refused to give me the information under compamy policy!

Now my only hope is that they really can solve the issues or be reconciled to the fact that I've already lost way more money that I will ever save using their little money making toy!

This is not all it cliams to be

Pros:

Magicjack is a one phone per adapter system this is why I rate this a negative one (-1).

Magicjack states that it will only charge a dollar until your thirty days are up this is far from true.

I have been charged $49.00 along with $1.00 before the trial period of thirty days is up.

BUYER BEWARE

Pros:

CHEAP

Cons:

Reviewed by: BUYER BEWARE

THIS MAY BE A REALLY GREAT PRODUCT BUT THERE ARE A FEW THINGS YOU SHOULD BE AWARE OF. WHEN I ORDERED THIS GREAT PRODUCT FROM AN INFOMERCIAL, THEY ADVERTISED 19.99 PER YEAR AND FREE 30 DAY TRIAL AND NEVER QUOTED SHIPPING CHARGES. I ORDERED 2, BY PHONE MAY 16TH. I RETURNED BOTH MAY 27TH DURING MY FREE 30 DAY TRIAL AND RECEIVED MY CREDIT CARD STATEMENT TODAY MAY 31ST, WITH CHARGES DATED MAY 20TH FOR 133.70. ALSO THE NUMBER FOR MAGICJACK 561-594-2140 ON THE CREDIT CARD STATEMENT IS A RECORDING AND ADVISES YOU TO GO TO THEIR WEB SITE SO YOU CAN CHAT WITH BILLING. THEY GIVE ANOTHER TELEPHONE NUMBER TO CALL THAT DOES’NT WORK 281-404-1551. SO BUYER BEWARE UNLESS YOU DONT HAVE THIS BILLING RETURN ISSUE GOOD LUCK. ALSO WHEN I CHATED WITH KENNY I ASKED FOR A MANAGER ESCALATION SO I COULD GET AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY MY CARD WAS CHARGED SO SOON AND THE MANAGER WOULD NOT DIRECTLY ANSWER MY QUESTIONS, AND NOW I AM DISPUTING THE CHARGES WITH MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY.

False Advertisement (magicJUNK)

Reviewed by: disgruntaled

I rx'ed my magicJack and followed directions. the thing never worked properly. I tried it on 5 different computers, both XP and VISTA and 3 different networks. ALL results were the same. I could dial out but the rx'ing end could hardly hear me. When dialing in, it was totally unrecognizable. I ran the fix from the website to no avail. I had to IM with thier customer support for 3 hrs to no avail. I was able to send it back with no $$ loss.  DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT... JUNK!!

Ripped off

Reviewed by: Anonymous

The service would not let me call anyone after several months of use. chatted with magicjack and was told that it no longer works with my internet service. They told me to change internet providers and would not refund the first year charges nor would they refund the optional 2nd year option. When it was working, the service did not work at all approx 10% of the time. Most calls experience poor sound quality with echos.

It's ok ... not close to what they promise

Pros: Price
Cons: Quality, Features, and most important lack of CUSTOMER SUPPORT

I purchased 2 last week with $59.99 per magicjack deal for the next 5 years and now I kidda regret it. Magicjack came 2 days ago and one worked but one didn't. They didn't have a customer service number so I had to got through the chat. I have to say this was one of my worst experience. I continuously to the rep that the one that was not working because I tried the other one, which works. Needless to say, he made me go through the whole plug this in, try this try that blah blah blah and every time something wouldn't work, he would keep asking if it was plugged in as if I was a moron. After he was done with the testing, he tells me that it's defective and I would have to get a replacement, yeah no S@#t, I told him that in the beginning. So I ask him, how do I get the replacement, he says that he does not issue replacements but doesnt say where to do get one, so from the FAQ I find the RMA form, no thanks to the guy. Then I ask if i would need to pay for shipping again since this was a defective product and he says yes.
I asked for a customer service number, so I get them to pay for shipping, and guess what NO NUMBER . So I filled out the form and haven't gotten a single email, confirmation nothing.

As far as, the quality of the

So the moral is "if something is too good to be true, it probably is"

PS I've kept the chatted log between the guy and me if anyone wants to see, for proof.
