I switched to ViaTalk about a month ago, and have had nothing but great service.  The quality is a little less than what I am used to, but nothing to complain about. I received the adapter within 2 days of ordering the service.  After testing the service for a few weeks, I decided to port my landline phone number.  It took about 3 days (AT&T) and there were no glitches or surprises.
Where I feel they really excel is in their customer service.  I have had to call several times and have never had to wait for more than a few minutes.  Their techs all speak English (although I think some of them are based in Mexico) and they are always to resolve my issues.  I find them very friendly and knowledgeable and really know what they are doing. 
It turned out that my adapter was bad, and they replaced it, no questions asked, and I had a new one in a couple of days.  Everything is great now.
One suggestion - you will get a much better calling experience if you set up your adapter in your Router's DMZ.  If you don't know how to do this, they will walk you through it.
