The small-to-medium sized business Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone service provider Vocalocity, based in Atlanta, has just been acquired by Vonage. The deal was signed on October 10th, 2013, and both parties agreed to the sale for $105 million in cash and $25 million in Vonage Stock. This $130 million sale marks the industry wide move towards the up and coming SMB VoIP market.
Vonage users can now use their Vonage VoIP service remotely through Vonage’s newest standard feature: Vonage Extensions.
Vonage announced the feature a week ago in a company press release:
“The move allows customers to use Vonage's signature unlimited international calling plans from their mobile phones to call friends and family abroad. The new service offering -- Extensions -- is free to all Vonage customers.”
Somehow, I managed to miss the extra $250,000 awarded in the settlement. It's really for $4.75 million.
