VoIP PBX Solution

A VoIP PBX solution gives businesses the ability to split one line between several users by creating multiple extensions using an IP PBX or private branch exchange. A PBX phone system is the switching system that manages business calls from between internal and external phone lines with a computer.  PBX phone systems used to manage calls manually (think of the old switchboard); with VoIP technology, that switchboard solution has been converted into a computer. With VoIP, this computerized PBX can be called a virtual PBX, a hosted PBX, or an IP PBX.

An IP PBX or VoIP PBX solution has the same function as a traditional PBX phone system. A VoIP PBX or virtual PBX replaces a person, who would spend all day feeding phone cords into different slots, with a computer. The VoIP PBX's installed software does all the switching, recording, and placing on hold. There are two primary types of VoIP PBX solutions: a hosted PBX system or an on-premise IP PBX system. What's the difference? A hosted PBX system or virtual PBX is owned and maintained by the VoIP provider for a small fee per month. An on-premise IP PBX system is owned, maintained, and controlled by the customer. Although the capital costs for an on-premise IP PBX system are much higher than a virtual PBX or hosted VoIP PBX solution, an IP PBX means companies will save more money over time, because they don't to pay monthly costs per user. The problem, of course, is that sometimes that initial capital cost can be too high. In circular fashion, that's why hosted and virtual VoIP PBX's are offered.
