Hi,
Be careful with ZingoTel, the service was tolerable and I kept going because it was
was cheaper for me as a Canadian, until they suddenly upgraded me (on their own)
to the Business Unlimited Plan from the Residential Unlimited Plan and started
charging me for per minute call as well. I was not at all informed of this upgrade and
my visa was automatically charged. I tried to contact them from phone, first they
never pick up and when I leave a message, I never get a call back. Sometimes they
do pick up, but the representative has no idea what they are talking about.
I later found out that the guy I was talking to was from India, who knew nothing
about the company at all. I just canceled my account and ended the dispute over
the charges which jumped from $17.10 per month to over $105 (from which I will
lose $200) and all because they automatically assumed on their own that since I
was using more talk time then previous months, that I was using it for purposes
other than residential, in other words Business, but I was NOT. They advertised
UNLIMITED residential and that is exactly what they should offer!
Be careful when you sign up for monthly plan its is a contract and if you wanna
cancel before a year they will charge you $39.99.

This is the worst ever company that I ever worked with. It's too late in the game that I read other people's reviews! I am not sure if giving the Customer Service a rating of 1-poor is fair...There should be a rating of Negative 1000 I guess. This company seems to be a total Fraud, trying to charge people by not giving them the service. I don't use their service for months because there is no dial tone on the line. I try to call their Customer service, leave voice mails, sent mails, to get some help, no response from them My CC gets charged every month ! Originally they said there is no contract. When I cancel the service they charge me 39.99 + tax ! Some representatives say that they would credit me for the unused service months, and then I don't hear anything from them. and Of course no credit. I don't know what type of ppl work for this company or even who is the founder of this company. There don't seem to be any managers who can talk with you. All they are trained to say is " I am sorry for the inconvenience". Ideally all these ppl shud feel sorry for themselves to be working for such a disgusting company. I wish this company is taken to the consumer court and hope the company gets closed !

Charged for long distance despite having unlimited long distance. Left so many messages, emails, customer service calls etc. and am tired. Wondering if I should complain to FCC about fraud! This is the worst company I ever did any business with! Customer service is ridiculous! They say they are level 1 support and will forward, nothing happens! Pl do yourself a favor and find some other service!

First let me introduce myself. I am a former employee that for personal reasons will keep his name anonymous. Wile I was in fact Laid Off form Zingotel, I do not hold any grudges towards the company of the people that work there. If you don’t believe me I DON’T CARE! I’m not writing this with the intention of damaging Zingotel in any way, I believe that the poor management of the company has done that already. I’m writing this to informed people on what to expect before they sign up.
Let’s get to the point. ZINGOTEL IS NOT GOOD SERVICE!
The truth is that the telephone service is not actually that bad. As long as your internet connection is good and stable, you have a properly configured router and you do not use your computer a lot at the same time as you are using the phone, you will have service almost as good as your standard PSTN line.
Unfortunately the lack of customer service and the misinformation makes this company a bad choice for almost anyone.
First things first; “Not all is well at Zingotel”. The company has been loosing a lot of money in the past 2 years (you can see the annual sales numbers on Nasdaq’s website). This has forced the company to cut down on expenses severely. The cut downs translate to layoffs and problems in the hardware infrastructure. Further more the company is poorly organized.
The operation is mostly run out of Ft. Lauderdale Florida, which once had over 30 employees and now has only 6. Yes 6 employees run a company with over 6,000 customers. The Las Vegas office is mostly accounting (not including customer billing which is in FL) and basically dose nothing but write checks to debtors and the few employees that are left. The COO is not even based in The US, he is in the Canadian offices of the parent company of ZingoTel.
The business service with is according to the head honchos the “Bread and Butter” of the company is ran by 1 person. This is sales, customer service and tech support for the entire “Small Business Solutions” side of the company.
The equipment that provides service to all the customers is not properly maintained due to a lack of funds and has failures more and more frequently. Wile the equipment is located in Miami FL, the person most capable of providing it with maintenance is based in Massachusetts.
The company frequently makes changes to its operations and dose not even notify their employees about them until they are in placed, giving them no time to train which makes other services (tech support and customer support) slow down considerably. Zignotel has recently opened a customer service center in India to address the issues, but this center is poorly trained. The fact that the company doses not return voicemail calls is not because the employees are lazy, but it is because they are understaffed and are routinely asked to take on duties that have nothing to do with their position. The best way to bet help is via e-mail, and that can sometimes take weeks to address.
The worst thing about Zingotel is the lack of respect and consideration they have for their customer. Misinformation is everywhere. Here are some of the things customers have ran into.
- The Zingotel website states that there is “NO CONTRACTS”, even after receiving poor service customers that cancel within 1 year are charged a $39.99 CANCELLATION FEE for every line (this includes fax, toll free and virtual numbers).
- Many of the “FEATUERS” DO NOT WORK. Wile this is not the case for every customer, many will go months without most if not all of the free features (Voice Mail, Call Waiting, Caller ID, etc.etc.)
- In accordance to section 1.2.1 of the “Zingo Telecom Terms of Service”, “Zingo Telecom reserves the right to immediately terminate or modify the Service, if Zingo Telecom determines, in its sole discretion, that Customer's Service is being used for non-residential or commercial use.”
What dose this mean? Wile the Website states that the Residential Unlimited has Unlimited Continental US and Canada minutes, this is in fact not 100% correct. Customer that uses the line more than 2500 minutes per month will incur $0.039 per minute for every minute over 2500. That’s 41.6 hours a month or about 1.4 hours per day. Zingotel will reverse the charges if you complain about it but will send you an e-mail that will warn you that if you go over the “Unlimited” minute again you will have to eather upgrade to a $49.99 Business Line (+$9.95 service fee) or cancel your line (and possibly pay $39.99 cancellation fee). If you say nothing or complain after 30 days you were charged, they will not refund you the money.
So even if you can prove that you are using it a lot because you have 2 teenagers in your house, they still can brand you as a Business User.
- Management believes the Customer is always lying and is reluctant to issue a refund. Sometimes the employees must go out of their way to prove that Zingo is at fault and when a refund is issued it will sometimes take 2 or up to 3 months to be processed (there is only 1 person in charged of all refunds, chargeback, FCC complaints and BBB complaints).
I can continue with more, but my fingers are getting tiered.
So in review. If you want cheep phone service, be sure that you have an excellent internet signal, and you know some basic networking. Do not expect much customer service but be always on the look up of hidden charges (like the $0.95 monthly 911 fee).

We have tried to hook up Zingotel from our high speed internet and could not get it working.
Zingotel keeps billing us for a service that has NEVER WORKED. They do not return messages ever!!!!!!!!!! I've spenthours to try to contact them through their phone number, e-mail, or website. Yet, try as I might the only communication we get is a BILL. We have returned the equipment w/in 30 day period and tracked it with the shipper; they have the equipment BUT HAVE NEVER RESPONDED AT ALL.
I HAVE NVER KNOWN A COMPANY THAT DOES A POORER JOB WITH CUSTOMER SREVICE; BILLING OR ANYTHING ELSE!!!! USE EXTREME CAUTION IN GOING WITH THIS COMPANY. BUYER BEWARE.

I have been with zingotel for not quit a year. I canceled my service completely out 2 months ago, however after they said it was stopped, I was still receiving messages on my voice mail. I checked the account last night (May 3rd 2007 and according to it my service is still enabled. I sent the box back and everything. I had a virtual number, that I gave to my family and found out that they were being charged for it. I have had vonage and have no problem with them. Vonage is not in our area right now. I am with ITP now and so far they seem really good. My advice to people looking for VOIP DO NOT USE ZINGO TEL they suck.

I have been with ZingoTel for nearly a year now and I find the most frequently dialed number on my phone bills is ZingoTel customer service. Unfortunately, rarely, if ever, are my problems resolved through their customer service options.
I have attempted to email the company regarding dropped calls, constant disconnected service, choppy and static noises during phone calls, inability to receive incoming calls or make outgoing calls, or ridiculous charges on my VISA bill. Unfortunately, it seems that my emails are constantly rejected due to "high disk quota usage" by ZingoTel. It appears their inboxes are full and I am not unable to contact them via their online support.
So, because of this, I am forced to resort to calling the company. More than 80% of the time, I reach an answering machine rather than a customer service representative - even if it is during their supposed business hours. I have to continuously hang up and call back and hope that the ONE customer support rep they have on hand is able to help me.
They usually tell me there is nothing they can do about it or that everything seems "so mysterious". I am given a case number for my issue and they promise to either credit my account of overcharges or fix my phone. This is only a promise and it never happens.
Recently, over the last two months, I have been billed nearly $200 each month for long distance charges although I am clearly signed up for the Unlimited Residential Plan. They have informed me that they charge me additional long distance minutes because I appear to be running a business out of my home. I told them to check my statements because I clearly only call two numbers consistently (two relatives in nearby cities). They apologize each time, but still nothing is done about the charges on my VISA.
ZingoTel offers HORRIBLE customer service. They clearly have no concern for the customer and every word that comes out of their mouth is an empty promise.
