I dropped VOIP in February because I got a better price from my mobile phone company. A month later, after all my charges had been paid up for weeks, they tacked an unexplained $99 charge onto my credit card. Beware VOIP Your Life

The network problems have become too numerous and frequent suggesting that the company is in trouble. I am going to quit after being a subscriber for 2 years. I always had some voice concerns, but I lived with it because the price and network was reasonable. Within the last month, reliability has dropped precipitously and customer service is hard to reach. If there is a severe network problem, no calls going through or coming in, and busy signals for every dialed number, it is quite easy to put a note on their website about the issue rather than getting flooded with customer service calls. Final conclusion: If reliability is important, voipyourlife is not the choice.

I have had VYL lsince sunrocket died. overall it has worked Ok but there have always been small issues. Reliability is about 90%, the web site sometimes updates the call records right away other times it is days old. Getting my time zone correct is always a pain when DST comes and goes throwing everything off. My biggest gripe is that they just don't seem to care when things don't work. I am in the middle of an outage right now. Web site has no info, no chat feature, the only way to contact them is by phone/ in this case my cell phone!! When I called it took 5 tries to have the call go thru then it say due to high call volume wait times my be long, after 5 minutes (not that long have been on hold for 1 1/2 with HP) I speak to someone who says they are having issues and they have no idea how long it will take to get fixed? They even seemed unaware I was calling about a VYL issue, when I mentioned the lack of chat she said they ddi have a chat feature? When I said i was on their homepage she was confused by which homepage I meant. I think I will try to convince my wife to drop the landline all together or I will be switching to someone else and will make calls to tech support first to see how the company actually handles customer service. as for VYL no reason to choose them over another company plenty out there some worse and hopefully some better!

Funny Name, but great service and O.K. price. I signed up to only use a softphone, they provided the download links and information right on the site so that was handy. Then, it didn't work continously, turns out I needed to forward my ports, I called Tech support and they answered right away, however because i use the softphone they re-directed me to Voip you life support, which fortunately they do have inhouse technicians which are AWESOME, very patient and walked me through all options and got service up and running no problem.
I originally was using the service with my wireless, but I was connected at 'onlu' 270 mbps, well I could hear people clearly but they would constantly tell me I was breaking up, so I bit the bullet and connected to my gigabit router and now the service works 99.2% crystal, so no complains on my end.

- Good tech support- Good inhouse tech support- Easy of use of features - great- Very direct plans- Service has delivered
- A little pricey (I feel) - Works best with gigabit connection (although I'm sure this is pretty standard for most VoIP)

I've been VYL customer for over 2.5 years and I have to say it's been good quality service until this year. Now I'm looking for another provider and the reason is simple - 30-40% of calls either incoming or outgoing are dropped (disconnected) after just 2-3 minutes of talk time, sometimes even a few seconds. I've been complaining about this issue for almost two months now, my ticket has been assigned priority one, the tech support says they are sorry for my troubles, but the bottom line is they CAN NOT fix it. They've done a buch of speed tests, re-settings, even sent me a new adapter few weeks ago - nothing works. I have no idea why it's been fine for more than two years and now it's so bad, neither customer service nor tech support is admitting any changes that would cause the issue.
I'm really disappointed and now I'm looking for another provider.

VoipYourLife
I just wanted to say that I have tried several different VOIP providers - and none have had the service and quaiity of VoipYourLife. Customer service is just amazing from quick email responses from support to great service over the telephone.
Thanks VoipYourLife - you make it too easy!

I have been using Voip Your Life since December 2008. However due to delays in start-up I didn't really start to use it and kick the tires until Mid-January. I have a Trixbox 2.6.2 PBX with a Digum TDM400P with 4 FXO ports, 2 are filled with 2 Verizon Pots lines. I have a single Premium Global trunk to VYL and I have had no issues with service. Behind the PBX are several VOIP 802.3af phones, and two Linksys PAP2T adapters (1 Ethernet, 2 x FXS). 3 FXS are connected to wireless 5Ghz handsets, the forth to a Fax machine.
I had early echo issues, but resovled this easily as it was an adapter setting. I have had one or two dropped calls, but I am not certain that it was not the PBX software or the connection, or some other issue. The SIP channel never went down and enabling that level of debug on the PBX waiting for a possible drop several days down the road is not reasonable.
I don't have the "simplist" implementation in my home. So expect if you are going to use a provided Linksys adapter expect to have smooth sailing.

=Simple Setup=Reliable phone service=Excellent support if you have a problem
=They don't directly support Asterisk PBX, but this is understandable. If you are working with compelx PBX software, there are many versions, distributions, etc. With the adapters, although there is a significant amount of complexity built in to those tiny boxes, it is all hidden from you. If there is an issue, all the boxes are the same, and it is more reasonable to support a set of adapters, verses a general purpose computer running SIP software. MOST VOIP providers will allow you to use a PBX, but they can't surpport it for the aformentioned reasons.

We have had voipyourlife since Sun Rocket went under. I miss Sun Rocket though, the service may have been worse as every one was oversees, but their quality and service was much better.
Overall a decent provider, but I think we may be switching to vonage or another company

I can't believe these guys, it took me the best part of an evening to get my device working with them. For a provider that supports 'bring your own hardware' SIP devices they have precious little technical info on how to get connected.
So after blowing hours with the setup, basically happy with the service, but with many reports of poor outgoing call quality, I was ready to call tech. support.
Well... that was tough, since these idiots had 'closed the account due to a fraud investigation'!!!!!!
Not even a courtesy email to say that there might be a problem with the account, nothing, just cut it off.
Anyway, they did me a favor, no need to diagnose the poor outgoing call quality now, card refunded in full, and I can continue my quest for VOIP Nirvana. (Vonage was the first off the list, after using them for 2 years, since they refused to support my own hardware).
One positive point, when you do call them, they answer immediately, with an accent that is quite understandable ;-) (while they tell you that your account was closed :-(

Price seems reasonableOnline registration was fast and simpleTech support speaks english
Cutting off an account within 24 hours without any attempt to contact the customer is just rude!Outgoing call quality was terrible, even on a line with bags of bandwidth, no packet loss, and very low latency.Support for most SIP devices pretty poor.

I was old Sunrocket user.
Tried a couple of the big boys after SR but didn't work and we went back to AT&T (the rebate checks helped)
So VYL asked me why I was moving... My reply.....
Be glad to mention reason for move, 24/7 phone help is great, the function of the software controlling my phone is not.
See this tread in forum where I point out the issue for FMFM.
http://www.voipyourlife.com/forum/showthread.php?t=176

I am now with a provider now that I can set the number of rings for different phones etc. I have my phone now set this way.... Home phone rings 30 seconds. If I don’t answer it a voice comes on and says ‘please hold a moment while I try and locate the person’….. Then my cell phone rings for 20 seconds. If I don’t answer it goes to voip voice mail……
Also if I am on the house phone and a second call comes in it doesn’t try the house then go to the cell phone as I have set the option ‘if phone is busy send second call to voice mail’. Now that is great.
The other issue is the having to put a # at the end of a number to make it dial straight away. You have to be kidding on that one, can’t be fixed! It can but has not been addressed so that sort of makes me worry about where a company might be going.
Not my thread but look at this
http://www.voipyourlife.com/forum/showthread.php?t=92
 Come on – not good.
New provider call quality seems better.. Hard for me to say but my wife ringing in from work has been asking is it VoIP or did I switch back to the bell!
New service doesn’t have 24/7 tech support, but hay once setup I have found I never use it. There is an ‘old time’ mind set that if the phone goes dead the world will end, once you overcome that (and you have a cellphone) you are set, and can wait till the next morning to talk to a Tech guy.
New service lacks good call log data but I can live with that, it is the phone function/service that is important.

 Thanks .....

They were great at change over and porting.. no issues there.Phone support is good and needs to be because you will need to ring a few times about the quirks in the system.Quality was Ok
As aboveFMFM doesn't work well.http://www.voipyourlife.com/forum/showthread.php?t=176 Putting # to make the phone ring a number straight away is not good and is it a indicator of other behind the scene issues?not my thread but http://www.voipyourlife.com/forum/showthread.php?t=92
