I have used VYL for ~6 months. VYL has a good feature set, yet they still struggle with getting the basic features to work, ie Call Id. Incoming Caller Id only worked for about 3 weeks out of the time I was with VYL. Their Customer Service is friendly and easy to access; however they are only able to log a ticket.

As a former customer, I can say that they have good service, customer support. However, now they have been charging a one time setup fee, which they did not previously do.
This has made them less competitive, and less attractive to use.

Initial domestic US call quality was average with few drop-outs or call quality issues. Initial International call connectivity was more miss than hit. Customer service response was fast, but a re-route for int'l calls took 3 weeks, without any notification that they had finally done something to improve int'l calling. All was well for 6 months, then caller ID with name finally started working. 1 week later, all incoming calls stopped working. Callers were informed by their carrier ( Verizon, ATT etc. ) that my number was invalid. A call to VYL customer service was handled quickly, but I haven't been able to receive incoming calls for more than 1 week. I call VYL tech. support daily, with no progress regarding my issue.
It doesn't seem to like VYL should be getting 5 star reviews when between VYL and their contracted RNK call routing company can't seem to fix a serious problem.I can no longer justify paying for outgoing calls only, and am being forced to look elsewhere. Too bad, they were OK for a while....

I switched from Vonage to VYL for the lower cost and added features. Generally they are the same as far as quality (some echo, delay, etc.) but the thing that really gets me is the caller ID not having a NAME! Unless you have the phone number of everyone that might call you IN YOUR HEAD MEMORIZED, it is WORTHLESS. I also notice that once you dial it takes a good 10 seconds sometimes before it actually starts ringing. I was quite happy with the customer service with ENGLISH SPEAKING SUPPORT and even with the "no-name caller ID" THAT will keep me with them! I have only had to call them twice, once to set the time on my account to "Pacific" time and once to ask a dumb question. Both times the help was courteous, friendly and AMERICAN! My work is too cheap to let us make calls from work so I use the free SIP software and my work PC (with headset and Mic) to make calls HAHA! I called our receptionist and she thought I was calling from home while I was sitting at my desk!

I've been using Voip Your Life for about 9 months. It has worked well most of the time. Excellent technical support professionals, it is difficult to find a better customer service and tech support team in a utility company today. I the quality of the service is great most of the time, though I get some breaking up occassionally. I recently moved to a new state and was able to set up my DSL and start using my telephones immediately, and I was able to use a soft-phone on my laptop while traveling just by finding a high-speed internet connection. I was even able to make calls using my Voip Your Life service while on vacation in Alaska sitting at an internet cafe.
While the service and features are excellent, I had a problem when I updated my new address for billing and 911 reasons. The company established a new local number for me, while keeping my previous number as a virtual number. I didn't realize it happened and it didn't interrupt my service, but I had people asking me when I had gotten a new number. Customer Service quickly showed me how to display the old number, but I wish I would have known the change had happened.
Overall, if you are looking for a good VOIP service, Voip Your Life is top notch!

This a great bargain if you can deal with the CONSTANT PACKET LOSS! In the last 6 months (June 07 to Dec. 07) I have not had one phone conversation for more than 5mins. without the other party not being able to hear my end of the conversation. I've got numerous logs with tech support and finally they just told me that they have done all of the tweaking that they could do. They've blamed packet loss on my ISP (Comcast) and comcast said they couldn't find a problem. I'm in the process of looking for a new VOIP as you are reading this. I even had one of their techs tell me to go with Comcast Digital Voice ,he said he has it and has had no problems to date(3months) but they are featureless compared to other VOIPS and overpriced, but he said the reliability is there because they service their own lines, equipment,etc.

This company is selling a solid product and is backing it up with excellent customer support. Real people are immediately available when you call and genuinely seem to work hard to resolve problems

Customer service hours are based on CST 9am-9pm not good when you have a problem outside those hours. Most representatives seem unable to answer simple questions like when will caller ID with name be available. They apologize saying they have been overwhelmed lately with new users. Resently tried to call Prague, CZ and could not. Tech support said that I was blocked from making out of country calls, but could not unblock. I had to wait until customer service opened (making my call to Prague to late) sothey could unblock. I was told there should not have been a block.

Quality of service has been very good.

VoIP Your Life is my first VoIP account. VYL has put me through an amazing experience because everything has gone just as they promised!
One comment about porting that may save you some agony, though. I filed a consumer complaint with the FCC because my particular land-wire provider would not port my old phone number to VYL. In the end, I learned that land-wire providers can deny porting to a non-LEC VoIP provider. Apparently, VoIP Your Life is a non-LEC business.
However, I solved my concern about losing the old land-wire phone number by porting it to my cell phone.

Delivered product and service as promised. Installation simpler than the written instructions.
VYL, as with many others, can be denied the porting of your old phone number from all land-wire providers.

I liked the service for the first month, however, I started to get a message that my minutes are ending. After a while, I found out that my unlimited minutes are no longer unlimited.
