When I first signed up with Vonics I chose them because of reviews I had read on the web. I was a Sunrocket customer that got caught up in the mad rush to find another provider when the they went out of business. Signing up with Vonics was easy, equipment arrived in about 8 days, I had to call them as I had not received it in the promised two to five day period. After talking to the customer representative, they overnighted the VOIP adapter and I had it by next day. Hookup was easy, web site is easy to use, although I do miss some of the features that Sunrocket had, hopefully Vonics will add more features as time goes on. I did have problems with the phone number that was assigned, Vonics assigned me a number that was considered long distance by the local phone company but at the time I did not know what the problem was and my attempts to reach customer service was frustrating to say the least. It took a couple of weeks for me to get a reply from Vonics and then another couple of e-mails going back and forth. Why use e-mail? I found that I couldn't get through via phone. But there is good news, I found that they had been swamped by customers switching over from Sunrocket and their customer service is answer calls in a timely manner. I can attest to that, as today I called them with a problem and had it resolved with in a few minutes. Hopefully now that the Sunrocket mad dash is over things will get back to normal.

Decent sound quality, so far no major problems with service. One year price plan is a good value.

I have never heard of worst service anywhere than this company. I am so frustrated with the service that I willing to sue the company. anybody willig to join in to make it a class action, let me know. They do not respond at all. My number did not get ported because of them, so i lost my number. They did not give me the plan as I requested. Let's sue them, they might listen.

I am a Vonics worldfone Mexico subscriber. I love this service! I get unlimited US and Canada calling with a Mexican phone number in the US! I signed up three weeks ago and I am excited to share my experience with anyone who is looking for a good phone service with Mexico phone number in US calling service.
Man, I was getting killed paying phone bills between calling Mexico, my local service and plus my mobile phone bills. Now I get calls from my family and friends from Mexico. I call Mexico City and the rates are ok, but the quality is great. I actually have a 55 city code phone number in the US. I can even forward my Mexican phone number to my cell phone when I am not home at no extra cost. This is so freaking amazing! I got rid of my home line and for paying less I got all these added services and features for free. The service has too many features that I don’t use, but hey its for free. I am lovin it!!!!!
I tell everyone I know. I am sure vonics is getting sales from me. It’s too bad they don’t pay for referrals : (

Here is my review of my Vonics VOIP service. After carefully looking into several VOIP companies I ended up choosing Vonics. It was mostly based on the plan price and the international rates of Vonics. I read lot of reviews and noticed that just about every company has been receiving bad reviews lately including the big names like Verizon, Vonage and Packet8. The big guys had far worse reviews than most and they are supposed to be the better and bigger companies. So why pay twice as much for the same service.
I ordered online and received couple of emails confirming the order and the receipt. I signed up for the Platinum Unlimited Annual Plan. This was the best deal I found in the market and it came with a free virtual phone number. I was a bit concerned about “getting what you pay for” while looking and comparing prices. I received my Linksys router in 5-6 days via ups and was up and running within 5 mins! The router comes with two phone jacks and one lan and one wan jack. I also added a fax line which I use for my work line as fax and voice. It comes with 300 mins out going and unlimited incoming mins which is perfect for using as a second line. They don’t offer annual plan for fax which sucks.
Ok so far so good. The voice quality is good and it has been working without any problems for 5+ weeks now. I did notice the service was not working few times but once I restarted the router everything started to work normally. I am not sure if that was my Internet or the Vonics service. Some of the features are a bit quirky to setup, but they work. I got a new phone number initially and once I was satisfied I signed the letter of authorization to transfer my old number. It took eight days to have my number transferred from at&t to Vonics. I have three of my friend’s signup with Vonics and I haven’t heard of any negative yet. Let’s hope they stay consistent. It took some convincing for my wife to move to VOIP. She is still a skeptic and doesn’t believe the industry will survive. I have my fingers crossed. Please dont let me down or I will never hear the end of it.

I had Vonics for only about a month and loved the suprising quality (even on my crappy DSL) and customer service. They responded quickly to every question. But now they will not return any email or phone call. I wish I'd seen some of these reviews earlier or saw this coming.
Reading some other reviews on this site I'm thinking my voip adapter may not be broken as I think, maybe everyones service went out at once and there's some issue with central, that would explain the lack of responses (there's nothing they can do) and huge influx of hate. I feel that all I need is a new voip adapter, my phone service stopped on 7/17. But maybe they won't send one or respond because there's some seperate issue?
Anyway I did enjoy the quality and love the web interface. They even email you a digital .wav of your voicemails! I've not used any other voip but was very impressed by these features.
BUT! You cannot provide service for one month and then none for the next 2 months with no sign of it ever continuing! Regardless of why or what happened to them, the current state is that you will NOT hear back from customer service and I'm willing to bet your service will NEVER work. I bet they overload their processing and routing of accounts and that's why we can't connect. I had thought I was the only one but looking here I'm giving up hope. I obviously can't try and black mail them by saying meet my demands or I'll write a bad review or seek legal actions, since it's obvious you all have done that before. I just can never believe it when companies screw over their word of mouth user base so completely.

I love the web interface and the cool little features as well as voice quality and price

Customer Service is POOR. We switched over after Sunrocket closed and have been disappointed with how we've been treated as a customer. The service is average, cuts out on occasion, my voicemail still doesn't work nor does my call waiting. I've attempted several times to get help but have not got any. AND to top it off, I found out today that 911 doesn't work (even though I received an email stating it was activated)

I have had the service for 2 months since Sunrocket folded. I have had nothing but problems. Right now if you call my number you get a recording that the numbert is no longer in service or disconnected. I can't get Vonics to answer my phone calls. The customer service sucks.

I've had Vonics for now about a month. I was burned by Sunrocket and came across their site. I have the prepaid one year plan and they gave me a local PH# for Pakistan. Initlally the ph# they provided did not work but after waiting for a week they gave me another one which has been working great. My only beef with this company is their customer service. Recently I've had a very hard time getting a hold of anyone. They are taking very long to respond even if you email them. I am very happy with the pricing and the call quality but service needs to be impprovided immediately.

I wrote earlier saying they hadn't ported my number yet. They finally ported my number, and customer service responded via email within 24 hours for a few inquiries I made about the service. So it seems to me they are starting to catch up. I also changed my config: cablemodem --> router--->voipdevice. This config seems to be working a lot better for me and i'm not getting dropped calls any more for past few days.

I must admit I was one of these people who wrote a very favorable review about 4 months ago. The first 3 months were very good. The last month has turned into a nightmare. I have had 3 phone outages and I can't ever get in touch with someone. I have left 8 voice mails in the last 2 weeks and I will give you one guess how many returned calls I have received. Yep you guessed it a big fat zero. I want to cancel my account now, but I can't even do this because I can't talk to anyone.
