I have been with this company since 07/2007 and I cannot wait when my year contract is over. The first thing is: NO PHONE SUPPORT. If someone posted otherwise, this person is a liar. I have tried to call at least 25 times at various days, times, holidays, no holidays. They always have an EXTREMALLY HIGH CALL VOLUME. The only choice you have is to send an e-mail or fax and get a ticket number. I have used Sunrocket for 1.5 year before and was a happy camper before they went out of business. I should have my head examined before I signed with Vonics. I read a review that said you cannot get any support over the phone. I did not believe. Oh well.
My problem started when I was trying to forward my old phone number. Instead of 7 days it took over a month. The response on every e-mail I sent was they do everything possible and it was not their fault but FCC. I had to write an upsetting e-mail that I terminate their service. Only then it was finally done.
Voicemails: Every VOiP company has a feature that a new voice mail can be sent to you over e-mail. Basically, you receive a sound file. Well if this sound file is of a bad quality you cannot understand anything. Same thing is here. Half of the voice mails a cannot understand and have to call to check it. If some one leaves you a short message, something like: hey call me back, it is not even recorded in the e-mail’s sound file. So, you treat it as a Hand Up, but it is not.
My current problem has been going on for around a month. People call me and get a voice mail. Sometimes it would ring ones, but most often it would not. Normally, in order to fix a problem you talk to a tech rep while you are at home and have access to your equipment. In this case it is not an option. Remember, you have to send an e-mail and wait for a response back. Then you can try whatever the e-mail suggest and send a response back if it did not work. Someone may say it is a problem with your internet provider. Not so fast. I am a network administrator and have been doing it for a long time. I have a software that tells me if my internet is down. During every reported instance when people could not reach me my internet was up.
International calling: Vonics gives you $3 a month free toward international calling. A few months back I have noticed that I could not make international phone calls. The recording stated something like I did not have enough founds on my account. That did sound strange. I logged on to my account and realized that provided credit card was no longer active. My fault – correct, agreed. However, company has my e-mail and my phone number. Call me, send me e-mail. I am not hiding. To make a story short, I did update my card number but, 1.5 months later the problem still exists: I cannot make international phone calls beyond $3 limit. Back to square one: sent e-mail and wait for a response. I really needed to make some calls during new year night. Remember: NO PHONE SUPPORT.
Sound Quality: It is ok. Sometimes you get Echo but it is not that bad.
To sum it all up: Vonics has lots of useful features and their price is good. Everything I wrote above, comes as a part of the service for free. No it is up to you to decide whether you want it or not.

I have been with this company for 7 months. Every single day the service quits at least once. Many days the voice mail doesn't work. The sound quality is awaful. They still can't get my name to appear when I make a call. There is no such thing as Customer Service, in fact the service number on thier website is "Out Of Service"
If your considering this company think again.

UPDATE on previous review: Vonics offered 30-day Money Back Guarantee. NOT! My account activated Aug.13; no reply/confirmation to my request for transfer of former numbers; 24/7 email cus.serv. non-existant; called to cancell after 3 weeks & was told would receive email NEXT DAY on cancellation procedure - NO EMAIL. Finally got a Cus.Serv. rep., "Peter A.", who gave me the address to return equipment. USPS confirmed delivery of equipment, access to my VONICS online account was cancelled, but NO REFUND. "Peter A." failed to give me a RETURN AUTHORIZATION NUMBER.
I paid over $200 for a year's service; VONICS charged my credit card in October $140.60, and again in November, and again in December for $123.00 after I was terminated in September.
Need I say more?

Voice quality OK
NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Rip-off charges after cancelation.

They have terrible service and steals your money. I signed up with them after Sunrocket went down. First thing is that they lied and said that I would get my activation fee back and did not. Service never worked from day one. I canceled after a couple of days. They said that I would get all my money back after returning their equipment. This never happened.I emailed them and called but never received a response or my money back as of Dec 2007. This all happened in July. I reported them to the better business bureau and still never got a response. Any positive reviews are all lies. I fell for them because of this forum.

I signed up for Vonics service in September 2007 when my former provider, SunRocket, went out of business. I filled out and faxed the paperwork to have my numbers transferred, and received an email from Vonics verifying that they got my paperwork but that it would take a long time to transfer because so many people from SunRocket were transferring all at once. Two months later, my numbers had not been transferred. When I emailed to ask why not, they responded by saying that they had not received my transfer paperwork. I asked to have my account canceled, but was instead promised that if I resent my paperwork it would be personally followed through on. Not believing that they were able to get it right after screwing up that badly and not apologizing for it, instead I disputed the charge with my credit card company. The charge was credited back to me on October 31. On November 20, Vonics recharged my card for more than the initial amount. I called my credit card company, who verified that this was a new charge, not a reversal of the decision on the initial charge. Thanks to Vonics, I have lost a long-standing phone number and am being forced to change my credit card number so that they can not continue to charge me for service they are not providing. On top of all that, I have received enormous amounts of spam email at an address that I never gave to anyone other than Vonics, and they have refused to address that issue.

While Vonics price is right, their service is absolutely sub par. It is simply not acceptable to have one's phone not work for hours at a time and never realize it. Additionally, I rarely am able to actually speak to a customer service representative. They force you to leave a voice mail and then send a note by email within a few days. To top it off, the emails are cryptic, the technician rarely understands the real issue and they do not follow up.
It just isn't worth it.

Good price; good sound quality; reasonable features.
Horrible customer service; unacceptable reliability

Have been a customer 6 months and this company is the most dishonest unethical company I have ever dealt with. They infrequently respond to emails or phone messages left because no one will answer. When they do respond it is a ploy to say they have followed up. They send senseless email in response and ask same senseless questions even when they have tons of email that state the problem.. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!

I, like many SunRocket customers, switched to Voincs in July because the reviews and their pricing. I several experiences with voip companies and I, as a web consultant, believe I am very tech savvy.
I received gizmo 5 days after placed my order online. Set up was easy and phone was up and running soon enough. I was a happy customer in the beginning. But after a month or so, the nightmare begins. First I received an email saying they were upgrading their hardware due to surging customers and the outrage would be no more than 24 hours. Ok, I appreciated that. But the outrage was 3 days. During that time, I had to call the customer service many times but they never go through. Left several voice messages, never got a reply. Sent email to complain and got a reply AFTER they restored the service. A couple of days later, I couldn't make any international calls. Complained through phone and email and got an email saying part of they customers had this problem and they were working on it. And the problems just go on and on. I have problem not only for international calls but also domestic calls. This time the problem is there are 1 to 5 seconds of period that I can't hear from the other side of the phone for about every 10 seconds for 3 days. They do answer emails but once a day. So then they asked you to "power cycle the gizmo" or "does your internet work" and you will have to wait until next day for follow ups. Very frustrating indeed.
If you want to use their service, you better pray that you don't have any problem at all every day because you never know what will be the next.

It is hard to believe the positive posts. I had to cancel service because of the lack of service. Phone never worked, Customer Service never answered, and a month after sending a ticket I would get a response of "Are you still having the issue" Sunrocket was great and now I am with ViaTalk and they are great. So how is it the ISP when Vonics has been the only issue?
If you are thinking about getting service please call the 866 number to see what you are getting into. Don't believe the posts put here by the company.
