We finally dumped Big Telecom after rates went up for sub-par internet service, and we couldn't justify the extra cost of maintaining a copper POTS line that was getting spam calls. Granted, there's something to be said for the generally solid reliability of a "proper" landline. Particularly after recent VoIP woes, including a persistent DDoS attack on Voip.ms. I hope their new security-improved setup will prove stable and dependable, and they'll have another stretch of years with few service interruptions. The big plus: A rich set of features including call-screening IVR, multiple sub-accounts, and custom call routing. All at a very reasonable cost at least for light to medium users. That, along with having a cell phone for backup, made it worth staying.

Cost, phone system features, and keeping an old landline phone number.
Reliability of late. We still can't expect anything like perfection from VoIP. Their service was brutally targeted, but the outage was pretty extended.

This is a great VoIP service with something for everyone from residential to big business. I've never had any issues and always found solutions to my problems. The only caveat is for mobile users the service falls short when it comes to SMS/MMS/RCS because the handsets are only setup to handle those through traditional mobile carrier connection - there's no way to dupicate those with the VoIP.ms service unless Android (Google) and iOS (Apple) step up and allow you in their messaging apps to use a SIP connection.

Living both in the US and Canada people can call the respective number easily. Just wish the number touted via Voips could send and accept texts. Also would be nice to change what number shows up for others to see whose calling

We found our landline costs excessive and features lacking. When looking for alternatives we found voip.ms which had the features we wanted at a very affordable price. Using an OBI110 we tested using VOIP in parallel with the landline and ported the number once we were comfortable with the service. One of the important features we wanted was affordable international calling, and have been very pleased with the voip.ms costs. When travelling we use VOIP applications on our phones to call home bypassing the high call rates on our cell phone plans. The availability of geographically distributed servers is very helpful when travelling. we moved we kept our old phone number and added a new phone number in our local calling zone. The old number has a wide variety of loyalty plans associated with it and now goes directly to voice mail. We also added local numbers in a couple of cities where we have family allowing them to call a local number to call us,

Wide variety of features, Separate accounts for multiple devices. Security features.

Call quality is fantastic. System is always up when I need it. Service is
always available when I need (as long as I have Internet access). Pricing is
not the cheapest, but I'm more than happy with user-based pricing structure.
Usage-based pricing is fantastic for me. It's not free, like some vendors,
but you get what you pay for in that case.

Chat-based customer service is stellar! Better than almost any chat-based
customer service I've used for any vendor (and I've used dozens).
I'm happy to pay low fees and have reliable service, high configurability,
with great support to stand behind the service.

By way of contrast, I was with Ooma residential service before. I was
significantly displeased with Ooma's pricing and horrible customer support.
I returned their hardware to the store.

Chat-based customer service is stellar! Better than almost any chat-based customer service I've used for any vendor (and I've used dozens).
The user interface and initial set up is not for the faint of heart. If the customer is not capable of setting parameters and using the web, then there are other inferior (and brainless and more expensive) services available to them. But I'm not like that. Perhaps UI set up "wizards" would go a long way. Recommendation: I suggest improvement of the referral program. Make is easy, make it rewarding.

Cheap and Affordalbe service compared to other providers, would reccomend to
others. It's clear doesn't cut off and I'm able to talk and have a clear
reception. The price is so affordable. Thanks for maintaining such great
services and as a customer I can honestly say that so far I am satisfied with
the service I have and hope to continue with your services as long as I am
satisfied. Thanks.

I've dealt with many companies in my life time and have never found a company
with better customer service. It has never taken more than a few minutes to
resolve problems I've had, mos of them due to my miss configuration. However,
when they are having problems with their server or network, VoIP.ms is
proactive sending email notifications and informing their customer service
engineers so they can provide the proper information to the clients.

The amount of functionality is incredible, It has always met all my needs,
from my personal account to create event specific phone numbers with proper
routing voicemail, etc.

Their CDRs are very clear and have helped me more than once to verify and
confirm my calls, giving me the ability to provide call logs when dealing
with other companies "I called you at this and that times, etc"

I've relied on VoIP.ms to maintain my phone lines when traveling
internationally.

Whenever someone asks for a recommendation for VoIP, I don't hesitate
recommending VoIP.ms

Clear interface Great customer service Options for call quality SMS
While it is a Pro for me, for others the self service configuration could be a con. other than that,

The Skinny

Founded in 2007, VoIP.ms was built by a group of IT and business professionals who believed there was a better way to bring Internet phone services to companies who, like them, had a desire for high-caliber communications solutions.

Being strictly Bring-Your-Own-Device, VoIP.ms does away with the limitations and costly hand-holding that come along with some telephony providers. This allows us to give unlimited focus to maintaining a widely accessible and feature-rich service.

With offices in Canada, and Mexico, and access points across the globe, VoIP.ms has developed into a truly international business that serves over 80,000 clients, worldwide.

Our Two Cents

It’s no surprise why VoIP.ms is beloved within the community by residential, small businesses and large enterprises. With such flexibility and features being released on a regular basis, they most likely have what you are needing. Additionally, they are a B.Y.O.B (Bring Your Own Device) company. That means that they support the vast majority of devices, applications and servers compatible with VoIP and thus, furthermore providing this feeling of doing what you wish to without being forced into a device or an application.

Whether you are looking for a solution at home, on your mobile or at work, VoIP.ms covers it all, and it’s incredibly affordable!
