While the connection goes dead every so often (not sure if it's the firmware on my Linksys WRK54G though), their product is good. The connection problems so far were dwarfed by the customer-centric attention we've received.
Every time I've opened a trouble ticket, a tech has called back to provide a status update. After ticket closures, they call back again to make sure we're happy campers. In all the years I've been in the IT industry, I've never seen this level of follow-up.
I had an issue where friends on all other cell phone providers could call my VoIP number, except Cingular. After the VelocityTel tech researched this, they came back and told me this must be a routing issue on Cingular's network. I was hesistant, because it sounded like the run around, but after opening a ticket with Cingular (I happen to also be a mobile customer of theirs), they came back and confirmed the problem was on their network.
I'd recommend this provider if you value customer service over intermittent technical nuisances. If you depend on phone service, then you might want to hold off until they become more established.

I recd it / we tried for a week but couldnt get it working. I returned the equipmentr and was told by Support (Andrew) that I would get a full refund. I couldnt even ping their SIP server so how can i connect to the service. Anyhow, we tried every avenue andI am an MCSE NT 4.0 and 2000 so it wasnt like I was shooting in the dark.
I havent recd my refund but I get billed every month for using their service which I never got going in the first place. I emailed and no response. I called and was told its a glitch in their accounting dept and I would be refunded everything and now today I see Ive been billed again.

Sound quality is abysmal. Echoing, fade in and out and choppy transmission. Every call seems like its around the world - you have to wait a second or two after each person speaks to make sure you don't trample their conversation - very cumbersome

I have been struggling to get my service working for almost a month.
The service set up great, and worked fine right out of the box. However my ATA has apparently "died," and the tech support guys can't get it figured out. They need me to sit at home on the phone so they can try different things to try to get it working, but no luck so far. The problem is that, without my home phone working, it's rather hard to talk on the phone to them - I have to use my cellular minutes to try to get this figured out. It's been over three weeks, and I'm tired of dealing with it - I'm cancelling the service. I guess you get what you pay for!

I am starting to think this is some fly-by-night operation.
Reliability-
My AT box diconnects regularly for no reason. When I was able to speak with someone is support they didnt know what to do. They 'think' it might be a bug in the AT firmware.
Customer Service-
If you open a ticket on their internal web site you are fortunate if someone gets back to you. If you have an issue YOU have to keep calling THEM asking for status.
Bottom line-
A phone service should just work. If you have an issue the company should be proactive in addressing it. They fail at both these basic requirments.

I have to say that I expected a lot based on reviews I read about VelocityTel. The customer service was top notch. They really try to help you and respond to calls and emails promptly. But the service itself was lacking. My phone calls had a bad connection, there was always a delay when i talked to people and every once in a while the service just didn't work. That really disturbed me. I don't want to have a problem in the middle of the night and not have a working phone. Another problem was the caller id. I wasn't told that it would be either name or number, not both, like I had before. Most of the time it was nothing. And sometimes while talking the phone would just start ringing in my ear like some kind of interference. The voicemail is very basic and won't even give you the option of putting your own message on it. I was really disappointed.

I had to call into tech support this morning because my router was screwing up. I first spoke with James and while he was in the process of finding out some information that my router was delivering to their telephone device we discovered that there were three people pulling internet service from my wireless router that I didn't even know about!!! He suggested that I contact LinkSys to get assistance setting up my wireless security. Of course LinkSys had me completely reconfigure my router so I had to call back into VTel tech support. On the second call I spoke with Dereck and he flawlessly walked me through every step to get my service working! I am saving money and dealing with folks who KNOW WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT! I'm 300% satisfied with my service! I LOVE YOU JAMES AND DERECK!
