The price was right, the quality is awesome, but the service is the best part. I'll admit, the setup look me a few minutes, because I have a 3 year old linksys router, but that was fixed with a simple call to tech support (they actually pick up their phones 24/7). I am sure that Velocity Tel is the best VOIP service provider out there!

signed up and was told would get an email within 24hrs telling me my phone number.Time went by, no email.Called back and suddenly it will now take 6 days.Told them i wanted to cancel and was given a different number to call. They said the reason it was taking so long is becuase they didnt have any phone numbers left.Instead of them telling me this upfront, they wait untill i want to cancel to tell me this. This company doesnt know anything about customer service.Dont waste your time with this pathetic company.I cant rate sound quality, etc.but it wont let me leave it blank.

After my first week, here are a few opinions: the customer service is very good - they walk you through everything and take time to work out any problems. The features seem very good (although I have not tried them all out yet). Unfortunately, reliability is a problem - several times my line has cut out midconversation, and about daily I lose signal and have to try to reboot all devices to get any dialtone. The settings for my Linksys router that were included did not work as instructed. Currently I cannot get a dialtone and am waiting for a email back from the helpdesk. Not sure if this is particular to this company, or a typical problem with VOIPs in general. My first VOIP experience has not been satisfactory.

I'm not very tech savvy. But, I bought a new router the other day (which was pretty easy to install). Then, I got the equipment from VelocityTel. All I had to do was plug it in to my phone and plug it in to my router. And it worked!! This was about the easiest tech thing that I've had to do. (Now, anybody know how to program that VCR?)

After using Vonage for the last 6 months, I switched to VelocityTel. After calling tech support to help change codecs, I learned that they are based out of Dallas. What a nice surprise to finally find a company that still has tech support here in the US.

I couldn't post without rating features I never got because after a month of never hearing from them, they finally emailed me saying there was no e911 service in my area. They could have let me know up front. Lame, lame, lame.

I had an issue which turned out to be a bad network cable. As I was on the phone with the Tech I asked where he was located. It was nice to hear Texas. I was happy to be getting support from someone here in the USA!

I finally got the last of my 3 kids off to college this year. YAAAAY!! But, I'm getting tired of paying those overage charges on their cell phones. So, I got 4 lines with VelocityTel. This has already paid for itself in just one month. The sound quality is great - much better than cell phones. My kids even like it because they can get emails every time somebody calls and can even get their voicemails emailed to them, so they can check them while in school. I'm soooo glad I got these lines. Cheers and thanks VelocityTel.
