Excellent service
I recently subscribed to PhonePower and had trouble getting connected to the phone service and online. I contacted PhonePower - talked to a LIVE customer support rep and he had me connected in minutes! Can't ask for any better service than that!
I shopped around before I purchased, I researched other providers and I feel like I found the right voip service. I highly recommend.

About as good as VOIP gets...so far
2 months ago I dumped the awful Voip.com for Phone Power and so far, no regrets. I've had a few choppy/ noisy calls, but that's expected with any voip service. I haven't experienced any non working services or dropped/disconnected calls that I did with voip.com. Phone Power does not offer weekend support which cost them a star in customer service, but the limited experience I have had with their support has been sterling. Both the the web chat and call in support have been quick to respond and knowledgeable. On setup, the customer service agent even called me back to make sure all went well. About the only criticisms I can make is that the hold music is lame and in using the sim ring feature the caller hears a "locating subscriber" recording instead of a ring. Neither are deal breakers. So far so good, but Voip.com was acceptable ffor a while too, till they turned to poo.

From VYL to PP

Sunrocket. to several others, to VYL my last provider. See my long post under VYL as to why I moved.
Now I have a service that works.  FMFM works and the general setup on this site was good.
My one gripe is the call logs are lacking you can only see the last 10 of outgoing, incoming, and missed.   No last months etc. If they update that then I will be a happy person.

Quality seems to be the best we have had.FMFM works.I have my phone now set this way.  Home phone rings 30 seconds.  If I don’t answer it a voice comes on and says ‘please hold a moment while I try and locate the person’…..  Then my cell phone rings for 20 seconds.  If I don’t answer it goes to voip voice mail……  Also if I am on the house phone and a second call comes in it doesn’t try the house then go to the cell phone as I have set the option ‘if phone is busy send second call to voice mail’. Now that is great. Porting my number over from VYL took 10 days I think it was. May not be under thier control. They just gave me a change over date 10 dyas out and it changed on that date.
No call records in your user panel area. (You can get them with a request to support). No 24/7 live support. Knowing that I planed on not doing anything to my setup outside thier support hours. And in this day and age most of us have a cell phone around the house somewhere. Once set up you tend to never need support that often.Reason for 4s in two sections are I always want it cheaper, not good phone logs, half a point lost on no 24/7 live support.

Good service, even overseas.
I decided to get a voip service so that I can take it with me when I travel.  I signed up with Phone Power because they don't make you sign a long-term contract and I could cancel immediately if I wasnt happy with the quality.  My next trip to Shanghai, I brought the box with me.  I plugged it in and it worked!  And I was pleasantly surprised at the sound quality.  People could call me as if I was back home, and everything worked great.  Their portal gave me the ability to change my 911 service address (do they even have a 911 system overseas?) but I left it alone.
I was happy enough that when I got home, I changed from the $14.95 Freedom500 to the unlimited annual plan.  I would highly recommend.

good sound quality, even overseas.

What else can i say, It simply works like it should everytime. They give you an over-abundance of features and have no activation fees and contracts. Add a ridiculously low price and you can see why they're doing so well.
I have to say that online reviews are somewhat squewed in my experience. People are more likely to complain and take out their fustrations when things aren't working than to take time out of their busy day to post something positive. Given that mentality, I can see that phone power still has an excellent ranking. That makes them A OK in my book.
I hate to rant and rave, but one of these reviewers was totally pissed that they had to to send an email to get anciliary services? Are you kidding?
I am very happy with my service and the staff has been a joy to work with. They recently added Saturday support and their sales staff assures me that 7 day support is weeks away.
The reliability of the service and their commitment to the customer shows through and through.

Mark me down as fan.

Phone Power
Did not even get a chance to try. A glitch in their system would not accept my credit card, although 5 pre-ops at 1 dollar each were charged. Their alleged customer service told me to keep trying. Finally they figured out (with my help) the problem, and stated they had no way to take my order manually. Totally incompetent. Glad I did not get their dis-service.

None, I could find except this showed my how bad these people were BEFORE I spent money on them.
The whole time wasting incompetent experience.

Beware of PhonePower - poor customer service and no weekend tech support
The features and the price seem great!  I am all for small business.
However, my experience with PhonePower has been horrendous.  I have to say, I have been with Vonage for 4 years and have had some problems, but they worked them out.  It only got worse when I moved to Palm Springs.  I asked for a Palm Springs number and was given a number which worked for a month and then, would not work if anyone from a Time Warner phone called.  This was unacceptable and Vonage has NO LOCAL PS numbers.
Thus, I joined PhonePower.  The price and features seemed great as did some of the reviews.  Sign up was a breeze and I even picked a great number.  I then decided to add another line.  GIve them more business and that is where the problems began.  First, their billing, sales and customer service is horrendous.  They cannot add service without emailing them, if you go online, you must add service as a new customer and pay for another modem.  They do not let you choose a number or one of five numbers as they do online.  One then gets endless emails with no resolution.  I even wrote to the CEO and he replied that someone would phone me iby noon the next day.  Noon passed and no call.  I did get an email asking me again to email them.  Hmmm, for $9.95 I should have expected untrained professionals.  They offer 18 months of service at a great rate, yet, they make it impossible to get additional services. Fine print also states NO REFUNDS...so beware if paying for the great 18mos. of service.  I will be transporting the number to another service.
In addition, when I received the equipment today, I easily set it up, but I cannot dial calls out.  I can receive calls.  I then found out NO WEEKEND TECHNICAL SUPPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  In this era, cannot imagine they do not have this service.
To me, the distcount price is NOT worth my time and troubles.  Please beware of them and don't make the same mistakes I made!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tech support with minimal patience
I know this is old fashion thinking, but I still believe phone service is still one of the most important piece of communication tool.  Traditional phone companies have been slow to innovate, but they've always understood and treated phone service as a vital service.I've used Comcast VOIP for several years (multiple technology generations), and the only reason I signed up for PhonePower was for the lower pricing.  Comcast cable and VOIP services have been rock solid.  I often got salesy reps, but I've also had pretty good experiences with the tech support folks. So what about my 2-month experience with PhonePower?  In short, this is a company that does NOT treat voice communication as a vital service.  My observation is that they are in a customer acquisition phase, and are going for the 75/25 rule - if you fall into the 75% lucky bucket with no issues during installation, then you're a keeper; if you fall into the 25% troublesome bucket with issues, then it's cheaper to drop you.I hope Dave in tech support is simply one bad apple in the group.  He readily hung up the call when I started to challenge his interrogative style of troubleshooting.  After 15 min of rebooting over and over again the Phonepower router, and listening to his accusations about how I must have done something or logged into his router and changed the password, I feel like I was in an episode of Saturday night live with the arrogant tech support comedy.  It was a simple request - I needed Phonepower to port over my existing number from Comcast.  A date was promised.  The porting did not happen.  My existing number disappeared from Comcast.  Dave asked me to reboot Phonepower router.  After the first reboot, I lost phone service completely.  After more reboots, still no service.  Then begins the "you must have done...".  Before I know it, he "disconnects" my call and puts down "customer swearing" in the ticket.  I challenge anyone at Powerpower to review the call recording.Matt, a supervisor, called back and fixed my issue within 3 minutes.  When I asked for credit after 6 hours of waiting and troubleshooting with 5 different folks, he happily offered me 33 cents for a day's worth of outage.  I could hear a smirk in his voice has he offered the credit. When Comcast missed an installation appointment, I received a month worth of credit.

Phone Power is telephone service. What else can I say. It works the same. No choppy calling, no dropped calls, just phone service.I'm buying gas with money I saved. About $50 per month in savings. That's pretty cool if you think about it. $600 per year abd I get unlimited calling. What else is there to say?

The Skinny

Phone Power offers residential and international plans on top of VoIP hardware installation guides in order to meet all of your calling needs. Their home phone service is the same plan with three different pricing tiers, and offers you nearly unlimited calling throughout the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. You can even keep your current phone number with Phone Power's residential calling plan! Phone Power also has three International plans available, and depending on how many countries you call determines what plan is right for you.

If you aren't satisfied with their service, Phone Power offers its customers a 30 Day money back guarantee.

the rub

The Rub

For home phone service, Phone Power provides consumers with the USA/Canada Unlimited Calling plan. If you are willing to sign a long-term contract, Phone Power can guarantee lower monthly rates. Then again, their monthly package isn’t exorbitant, either, so you can't go wrong with affordable phone service whether or not you want to sign a contract with Phone Power.

Each unlimited plan, regardless of the term (1 year prepay, 1 year contract, or monthly) will get you virtually unlimited calling. You can make and receive inbound calls without a limit, and are granted 60 minutes a month of international calling. Plus, with their USA/Canada Unlimited Calling plan, Phone Power provides a mobile phone app, free activation, and a free cloned second line.

bottom line image

Bottom Line

If you know that you need a dependable VoIP phone service that will help you save money, opt for the 1-year prepay to save the most money. However, be sure to consult Phone Power's website As a trustworthy and reputable residential VoIP provider for ten years, they can provide you the phone service and customer support that you require to stay connected. Plus, their support team is 100% US-based, and their website offers e-guides as well as tech support chat.

While the monthly rate is entirely affordable and much less than a traditional phone provider, taxes, fees, shipping, and handling still apply to your order.

Our Two Cents

Phone Power makes it easy to have an affordable residential VoIP phone system. They offer three differnet payment options in their USA/Canada plans: a Monthly Average (as a 1-year prepay), a 12-Month Term, and a No Contract option. This makes it easy for users to choose a term that they are most comfortable with. Even still, Phone Power offers a 30-Day money back guarantee to its customers. These calling plans also offer customers the option to keep their current number for free, when other providers do so for a charge.

Phone Power's residential VoIP plans also have a mobile phone app, faxing capabilities, and free activation on top of many calling features. Your calling plan also comes with an allotted number of internationl minutes per month for calling to select countries. One thing unique to Phone Power is that they give you a free second cloned line with your service, which allows you to make or receive calls using the same phone number.
