I had 2 phone lines with Lingo. Call quality was poor, plus many dropped calls. I canceled the service. Over a year later, they contacted me and tried to get me to pay for the time since I quit! When I told them I had quit using the service, they claimed I never officially let them know! Yet my bank statements showed they stopped charging me. Lingo went so far as to set a collection service on me and threaten a local lawyer to get on me. When I finally registered a complaint against them with the BBB and the FTC, they went away. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

After strugling with fax problems over several months, I finally gave up. They have a compatibility problem and I think it is with newer fax servers rather tan old fax machines.

Easy to use and quick call forwarding set up.
If you don't complete the number you are dialing within 10-12 seconds, you get an error message and have to start over.

There is NO Physical address to mail or communicate with a live American!
There was a billing problem. I was NOT notified that there was an issue, till they canceled the service.
They will NOT re-activate the phone number that is printed on ALL letterhead and business cards! Going to cost me serious money on re-print.
DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.

all communications are via email ONLY!!!

I've used Lingo for a few years and it's been an up and down experience. Recently Comcast installed a new modem (at no charge) and it was quickly apparent that it was incompatible with the 4 year old Lingo modem they had provided. I contacted them and after two weeks I finally was given the option to purchase another modem from them. Not satisfactory!

Scratchy, inconsistent service even with brand new phones

I switched from Vonage to Lingo because of poor reliability, yet I am having the same problem with Lingo. Voip is not worth the unreliability of the service, of calls dropped in midstream, of no dial tone--heaven forbid you have an emergency and need to dial 911--you'll die before you can get help, heck, before you even get a DIAL TONE. Bad, bad service because of bad, bad reliability. Don't waste your time on Voip. Maybe in a few years, or decades.

Good price, good features, some of which are not available on land lines.
Very poor reliability. Dropped calls, no dial tone. Requires too much coddling & corrective actions on the users' part

Lingo technical support is terrible. On Feb 29, 2008; I found that I couldn’t call China, so I log a with their support. Their support promised this routing issue will be resolve within 24-48 hours. By March 2, 2008, 48 hours later, I try to call China again, call couldn’t complete, so I call their support again, they again promise me to give them one more day it will work. Guess what, Today, March 4, 2008, the routing issue still not fixed. All I want to said is, doesn’t matter the how many features or how good their price is, if they can not deliver the service they promise, it worth nothing. Let’s add one evaluation criteria to this review, “technical competency”, Lingo is 0.

Provider charged my card well after I had switched the service over. Had no service for almost a month due to outages and equipment malfunction. Crappy offshored tech support.

Quality ok when it worked.
Poor support and unethical billing policy.

We have had lingo for 3 years. At first they were good, but when we changed accounts and tried to change credit cards with them they kept charging our card and it wasn't going through and they would email us saying the card they have on file declined the payment so i would check with them to make sure they had the right card and they did but for some reason they kept charging the old one. so anyway when we finally got the balance paid they turned off our phone and they said it was for no payment when we did pay it was off for at least a week before they could turn it on. it was aweful. they are so dumb.

I was a SunRocket customer and after they closed down, I thought I did the right thing by choosing Lingo. It was by far the cheapest way to call our out-of-state family and friends. Unfortunately it never worked for me. I was not able to make any call to another VoIP phone. Even I was not able to contact Lingo customer support using my Lingo phone. I was not able to call my work from my Lingo phone. To resolve this problem I contacted Lingo Tech Support from my cell phone and spent over 2 hours each time I called them. I gave them three weeks to fix the problem. At last I had to cancel the service before the trial period (1 month) expired and switched to Packet8. During cancellation they told me that they would charge me for 1 month service, even if I was not successful in making a single call from my phone. Later they told me that I don’t have to pay the service charge, but I must have to pay the shipping and handling for the equipment. Since I paid the shipping and handling to ship the equipments back to Lingo, I was not willing to pay the shipping and handling for Lingo as it was not told me when I took the service. I called my credit card company and disputed the amount. I am not their guinea pig. They must test out their products before rolling out to customers.
Now I am getting letters from their collection threatening to "Ruin my credit rating" if I don't pay the Shipping and Handling ($9.95) for their abysmal non working phone. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I believe their behavior is criminal. Do not use this company.

My router dies and they act like 3 weeks without phone service until they send a new one is routine and acceptable. They wanted paid for a new router until the bad one arrived for an EVENTUAL credit. I went to Best Buy and bought a Vonage router off the shelf. Lingo hit me with a cancellation fee.

3 weeks and a deposit with no phone if router ever dies.
