Yes, their rates are cheap. Yes, they promise you unlimited local and long distance (evening International) however their service is poor. Connectivity is a hit or miss and their tech support is beyond poor. Like most companies now, you end up talking to some less than trained people from India who could give a crap about your problems. Your better off buying a carrier pigeon vs. using Lingo. BEWARE...because they do suck!!!!!

I was a Vonage customer. Nothing to complain about them only that I paid some fees to disconnect from them. I went to Lingo because of the so called "free" service with W.Europe. But it was not completely free I discovered later because calls on cell phones will cost you more than calling directly from a Verizon plan. Anyway after not being able to transfer my old number I accepted a new number so I kept moving on and paying something like 60 a month. I needed to call overseas so I thought to myself it is better then using International Calling Cards, which by the way force you to consume all the card in one shot, otherwise they eat your minutes till the card gets worthless. But then on the last two months with LINGO I started to get bills of $120. Unbelievable but 1. At this point, the logic of "better than using Calling Cards" fell apart here. Meanwhile I found out that in NY Optimum Online was offering 500 free minutes with any country in the world (now they reduced it to 250) , INCLUDING calls to CELL PHONES overseas. And all of that for 20 bucks. I immediately jumped to Optimum Voice and save myself some money and headaches. Lingo is not a US based company. I told them to look for business in some other parts of the world and forget US with those bills. They are some kind of international scam company that have good trapping marketing and offer you the worst service I ever seen. Try them if you want to prove it on your wallet and let me know if I am wrong. Even today 1 year from my run away from them they still bomb me with junk emails with trapping offers. Btw I did not pay any disconnection fee because, as a sleeping idiot I was their customer for more than one year. They did not asked me to return their phone adapter as well. I guess I have paid that multiple times for them not to care.

Lingo has been regularly hiking their prices over time to a point where they are not completely off compared to sunrocket or packet8. Customer service is one of the worst in the world, never returns emails and if you try to call them, you can wait up to an hour.
The service is average, sound quality definitely worst than sunrocket.
I am so excited to switch to another provider

I've had Lingo for quite some time now (over a year) and my wife uses it for calling her best friend overseas to Spain. She does occassionally has echo and other technical glitches, but overall, the cost savings we're getting by using Lingo is tremendous. Oh don't get me wrong, they are not prefect. Their customer service still leaves a lot to be desired, but then again - if I never have to call them - so much the better. If I do find a better deal, I just might switch, but not for now. Ok I only had Lingo for 3 days it really sucks.
1. The router they send you only supports 6 megs downstream speeds.
so if you have faster speed you outa luck.
2. The router kept resetting and I was getting dropped calls.
3. The sound was poor. My cell phone sounded better.
Buyer Beware!!!

Have you ever given your credit card to a company who provides you an inferior service, possibly a scam, and then continues to charge your credit card for months after you try to cancel? Lingo was one of those companies for me. Try calling their support line before you purchase. You will hear three things...
1. Extensive on hold music (it can cost you over an hour to have a simple question answered by an representative from India who you can hardly comprehend.
2. The call quality you will experience if you get their service. The representatives ask you for your phone number you are disconnected.
3. A disjointed company- You might spend 1 hour on hold for them to tell you that you need to call another number. You then might spend 45 minutes on hold for them to tell you that they can not help you.
Please save yourself a lot of frustration and go with another VOIP company. I just switched to Verizon's Voicewing. That service is far from perfect, but it's miles above lingo.

I have been useing Lingo for over 3 years now. It works great on cable 3megs or better. I downgraded my Cable speed once during this time and what a mistake. You must have a 1 1.5 per sec or higher isp speeds to get the great voip experience they advertise on there site. PHone and fax work great. Customer service helpful the few time I have called them. I recommend this service to all I know useing a cable connection oc 1me and above. Carlin

Had service for 6+ months. worked ok in the pacific northwest (360) area code.
But, no Hawaii (808) telephone numbers ?
THEY PUT THEIR RESOURCES INTO BILLING / COLLECTING / ACCOUNTING
VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE !!
COULD NOT MAKE OUTGOING CALLS FOR SERVERAL MONTHS BEFORE I CANCELLED (WHICH THEY MAKE EXTREMELY HARD TO DO !)
THEN, SUBJECTED TO ABUSE, WHILE TRYING TO CLEAN UP THE ACCOUNT !!
AFTER LOTS OF EFFORT (EMAILS, CALLS & MESSAGES), TRYING TO TALK TO MAYBE A SUPERVISOR, OR SOMEBODY WITH A BRAIN, THEY STILL FELL I OWE THEM FOR (2) MONTHS FOR PROVIDING SERVICE THAT DIDN'T WORK !!
IDIOTS !

We went through HELL trying to get Lingo to stop our service and stop charging our credit card. We finally had a form letter we would send our credit card issuer (American Express) each month, explaining our repeated calls to Lingo for disconnection and their continued billing.
It was a nightmare, one that was FINALLY resolved by US calling Lingo's corporate offices (primustel) and asking to speak to the CEO. We finally found SOMEONE willing to fix the problem, sort of a high-level customer support troubleshooter that is trained to resolve problems whatever it takes.
If it helps people, here's the corporate office information:
