Rebtel is starting a revolution.
A venture capital-funded start-up, Rebtel began in 2006 with the goal of 'taking the phony out of mobile telephony.' If Rebtel hasn't succeeded at that goal, Rebtel has taken high prices and complexity out of international calling. Compared to traditional carriers, Rebtel can save you up to 95% on international calls. And Rebtel's really easy to use, too.
How Rebtel Works
Rebtel works like the international calling cards of the past - but Rebtel is much more efficient.
With international calling cards, you had to have a card. You had to have a PIN. You had to have credit on the card - and loading the card with credit was another step that you had to take all too often. But all these steps were worth it because of the amount a calling card could save on international calls.
Rebtel has made international calling much simpler.
With Rebtel, you sign up online with your cell phone number (you can also use a landline). Then, you import your international contacts to the Rebtel system. Rebtel gives you a unique local number for that international contact. You can call that international contact - at local rates. In 50+ countries (listed on Rebtel's website), you can make calls for free. You only have to pay for the local call itself. And if you have unlimited local calls, the international call is free.
Rebtel also sends the contact number to you by email and SMS (text message) so you won't lose it. If you have a smartphone, you can also download one of Rebtel's smartphone apps, for iPhone, Blackberry, and Android. You can then call Rebtel number's without having to save the contacts.
If you try to use Rebtel with a landline phone, make sure that you write down the phone numbers in your address book or Rolodex (or make sure that you give Rebtel a reliable email).
Rebtel's Low International Rates
Rebtel focuses on international calls and lowers international rates frequently. Check their website frequently to see which rates have been lowered.
We're serious - Rebtel's rates are very very low.
