JoiPhone advertises itself as bringing "joi" (sic) to your life with their low rates for residential VoIP service. They're celebrating their 10th year in business in 2010 and offering a new special for JoiPhone unlimited - a $30 instant rebate when you sign up for a year. JoiPhone also offers excellent, US-based customer service.
JoiPhone is a subsidiary company of Hawk Communications, an Atlanta, GA-based internet service provider and, naturally, VoIP service provider. They offer a variety of VoIP service plans, ranging from the bare bones to an affordable internet and home phone service bundle ($34.95 a month for DSL and JoiPhone Unlimited).
JoiPhone's cheapest plan is the JoiPhone AnyWhere plan for a buck-ninety-five ($1.95) a month. By registering your home phone (or any other phone) to the JoiPhone number, you can call, for two cents a minute. You also get access to JoiPhone's international rates - which are cheap, since they're VoIP rates.
For more traditional VoIP and home phone service, JoiPhone Unlimited is a better choice. For $14.95 a month (that's the calculated cost of a year of service), you get unlimited calls to anywhere in the US, plus free calls to Argentina, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Ireland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, and the UK. Not too shabby.
