NexVortex is Outstanding

Posted on: Mar 22, 2012
Pros
customer service, excellent quality and reliability, can do our own provisioning
Cons
initial setup is not "instantaneous".

nexVortex has been an outstanding vendor for us.  We are a technology integrator and an international re-seller of business communications solutions, a large piece of which is VoIP.  There is no reason to not deploy VoIP within a business because you control the network (which is the principle factor in call quality).  We have an extensive background in telecom with 5E and transport techs on staff.  We are the definitive source for AVAYA PBX configurations (even for Avaya) so we understand the landscape and how reliable the PSTN is and why.

But, when it came time to take the next step, eliminate traditional TDM and POTS in our business we talked to all of our customers and tried a number of vendors.  We were the most impressed with nexVortex.  It took longer to set up initially because of the vetting process but their call quality is outstanding.  We run technical forums for VoIP vendors around the world and so we get to see what everybody is dealing with (good phone systems, good phone companies, bad phone systems or technologies and bad phone companies).

We use and continue to recommend nexVortex because:

  • their call quality is outstanding
  • their rates are reasonable for business
  • they followup and they work with us to find solutions
  • they are reliable
  • their estimates are reliable (turnup time, costs, etc.)
  • their phone-bills are ACCURATE
  • they work with every PBX solution we have tried, and most importantly,
  • they pay their resellers on time.

We are a direct reseller for the number one carrier in the world and we use and recommend nexVortex because it's one piece of our business we don't have to worry about or manage.  Traditional carriers could learn a lot from them.

We use what we sell.  We sell what we use.  If it doesn't work, and work well, we don't recommend or use it.

NexVortex: There is a problem with your account

Posted on: Sep 27, 2011
Pros
Not sure?
Cons
Customer Service... Are you there?

So, I read these glowing reviews and one that was not so glowing.  What the heck?  I decide to give them a try.  So after taking time to register an account, painstakingly go through the steps picking the plan I want, selecting DID's, features... I submit the order and it shoots me to the main web page and the won't let me login telling my there is a problem with my account.  Help tickets are sent, I get an automated reply but nothing.

I am so sick and tired of the sip trunk companies telling us about their fanatical support. In this case the term was "Superior Customer Service".  I really don't call having a help ticket system that tells you they will be in contact as soon as possible (apparently that means the next business day)... a help site that has an empty knowledge base which looks like it was thrown together in 5 minutes, a registration site that allows you to login just enough to place an order and then it locks you out saying "There is a problem with your account".

Generally speaking, there is a big open spot for a REAL player to come in and start doing this.  People are willing to pay more than the others if you had excellent voice quality, REAL support and a solid foundation in the market.  These companies come and go like wildfire.  Everytime I use one, I get the feeling it is being run out of someone's basement.  The only exception I have found to this is nextiva.  Unfortunately they did not have a plan that worked for my situation.  Maybe I don't get it, but it seems to me if your going to take orders 24/7 then you need ot support it 24/7.  If you not, then tell me in my help ticket that you will look at it during normal business hours.  Also, "there was a problem with your account" doesn't really tell me much.  If you give me the tools to fix the problem myself... I am MORE than willing to do so.

Now thank you all.. I feel better.

Official nexVortex Response

What follows in an official response to this review from nexVortex:

SJ's frustration raises an important point about setting expectations properly and nexVortex places the highest priority on listening to our customers (and future customers) and making changes to improve the customer experience.

Due to the high risk of fraud, our policy is (and has been for some time) that all new accounts can only be setup and activated during business after they have gone through a vetting process. This was not always the case. Historically, the setup process was highly automated but we found ourselves constantly doing battle with hackers setting up fraudulent accounts using stolen credit cards. Because of this, we've had to add some speed bumps to ensure that the accounts that are being set up are real and also to guide our new customers through the ordering and set up processes so their experience with the service is a great one from the very beginning.

In SJ's case, he began the registration process after 9PM eastern and had the expectation that his account would be immediately setup and activated. When this did not happen, we let SJ down. Clearly, we failed to set the right expectation with him and as a result, SJ was disappointed and upset. We deeply regret the frustration that SJ experienced as a potential customer, but appreciated that he highlighted an opportunity for us to improve our communication systems. Our goal is for each and every nexVortex customer to experience superior customer service each and every time they reach out to us.

Based on this incident, we have updated our support communication, documentation and systems to better communicate when an account can be expected to be setup and where it is in the process.

Again, we apologize for any confusion and would love to see SJ try our onboarding process again. SJ will find a marked improvement in his/her experience even in the few short weeks since this review was posted.

Response To Response

Reading my comments above, clearly I was directing this at someone.  In this case nexVortex.  In reality that was not really my intent.  The industry and the many providers I have worked with in the past several years have worked me up into a frothy cup of angry.  I took this out on Wes and his group and it was a little unfair of me to do so.  I have had a run of disappointment among many providers for some time.  Good pricing, bad features.  Good features, bad pricing.  Good price and features, no customer service/bad quality/etc.  After signing up, filling out all the necessary info, my signup had an error and was not going to allow me to setup an account. Then I was locked out totally... Long story short, it was due to the fact the system requires someone speak to you to verify information, etc.

I pretty much dismissed this whole thing, but last week Wes called me.  He apoligized for the mishap and took full responsibility and explained why my case slipped through the cracks.  He also told me how they fixed that problem so it woudln't happen again.  He didn't press me for another chance, diidn't try to sell me anything.  He really just wanted to explain, apologize and correct it so it didn't happen again.  As such, I feel it important enought to share this with the group and tell you that they are worth another look if your looking.  For me, I will definately give them another try. A company with a human side and that stands behind their product... something I have rarely seen in this business.

Thank you Wes and best of luck to your company.

NexVortex: Our experience has been excellent

Posted on: Mar 10, 2011
Pros
We have been with nV for almost a year now. Our experience has been excellent. In a marketplace of providers all of whom are racing each other to the bottom it has truly been a pleasure to work with a company that exhibits such professionalism and while valuing customer relationships so highly. I recently ran into configuration problem on my side of the connection on a Sunday afternoon and within one hour I had a response from nV pinpointing the problem in MY configuration and including detailed instructions for correction of the issue. nV gets an A+ from Fast Blvd - and is the #1 choice for Business Grade VoIP service on each and every 3CX phone system we install.
Cons
None.

I've read these reviews and I understand that everyone has a different experience with any company but what has consistently impressed me about nV is their responsiveness and positive helpful attitude when any issue arises. I would and do recommend them to everyone.

Cons

As a reseller of IP phone systems, my sales have doubled since bundling with nexVortex. Simple, easy to price plans and better than traditional phone lines for sound quality. Tech support is great as well. I am also now a customer as well as a partner.

nexVortex helped us get a conferencing solution setup quickly

Posted on: Mar 10, 2011
Pros
Nice web interface. Easy to change plans, add features, or change number routing options. Disaster recovery routing of inbound calls is a nice feature that has worked well in our testing. Our channel account manager has been excellent to work with.
Cons

We began working with nexVortex in April of 2010.  At that time, one of our clients was using a hosted PBX solution.  The conference calling "feature" of the hosted PBX solution never worked properly.  Too much voice lag, legs getting dropped off, etc.  nexVortex helped us get a conferencing solution setup quickly for this customer to use.  The customer liked the quality of the conferencing so much that when thier contract was up on their hosted PBX solution, we moved them to a local Asterisk based PBX with SIP trunking through nexVortex.  The changeover went smooth as silk, including the number porting process.  The customer has been happy with nexVortex and has indicated to us that the audio quality of their calls is better since moving from the hosted PBX solution.

NexVortex: Helpful technical support

Posted on: Mar 09, 2011
Pros
Helpful technical support.
Cons

Been using NexVortex for a couple of months.  Service has worked well.  Technical support has exceeded expectations.  They wanted the service to work for us and helped solved issues that had nothing to do with NexVortex.

Switch from Broadvox to NexVortex

Posted on: Mar 09, 2011
Pros
No line limit. Great price for minutes/packaged.
Cons
Wish additional numbers were cheaper

We just switched from Broadvox to NexVortex and overall the sound quality has gone up a lot. We are using 3CX and their tech support was helpful in resolving a mistake I made when provisioning the new provider. So far so good. I wish that they would offer discounted DID's and port fees if you signed a contract, even if it was just for 6 months to a year. Also while the packages are stackable I wish they also had a 3rd level package which reflected a larger discount level. While this is more then we need currently, it would be nice to know that it was there. Overall I am very happy with the swtich!

Re: NexVortex

Pros
Nice billing interface
Cons
No tech support or customer service to speak of, you leave a voicemail and maybe you get a call back. No week-end support no evening/night support. Very unreliable, down 3 times in a year and twice in 2 weeks (long outages).

As a well respected VoIP implementation company we deal with nearly every SIP trunk provider. I must say that this has been one of our worst experiences in the industry. It is NOT a business critical company to rely on. Single location of servers in a COGENT data center and no backup/redundancy. Your choice.
