HyperDog Digital - Not recommended

Pros: nice tech support staff
Cons: major problems can not be solved, too long a wait time to talk to anyone, limited features

HyperDog Digital was my second internet phone company. I had had my first Internet phone company for more than four and half years before I switched to HyperDog. The experience I had with HyperDog was very disappointing. I got their router/adapter one week after I signed up on their website. I was with them for about one month before I finally decided to leave. I had had problems big and small since day one. Problems included

1. Their phone line could not detect my input after the line was connected. This meant I could not reach anyone after I called a company if their phone system requires an input from my keypad. I could not reach my previous phone company to stop their service after the phone line was ported. I could not check my voice mail. I could not do anything that required an input from my phone keypad.

2. My connection was cut off after only around 47 seconds every time for a period of time when I called my friends who were with a different internet phone company. In another case, my other friends who are with my old internet phone company could not reach me.

3. Their router/adapter could only be used as an adapter. My computers had problem accessing the internet when their router/adapter was used as a router.

4. Their caller ID only shows numbers but no names. Unless I memorized the numbers, or people left messages, otherwise I could not know who called me.

5. The message light would not blink when people did leave messages. This meant I needed to call their message center every time just to know if anyone had left messages.

These were only some of the persistent technical problems I had with them. Some problems they did solve but came back. Their best tech person admitted to me that for some of the problems, they did not have the technology to solve them. I spent many hours everyday for the first almost two weeks with them to solve problems. I did not have any of the problems while I was with my previous internet phone company. I was able to use their router/adapter as a router with the same modem, router and computers.

Technical problems were not the only problems I had with them. The waiting time to talk to their tech support and billing department was very very long. Ten, fifteen minutes wait was the norm. There were several times I had to wait for more than thirty minutes before I could talk to someone or had to hang up. I am normally a very patient person but even I reached my limit.

This company is a very small Canadian company with a very small staff. The company’s name in Canada is Digital Voice(http://www.digitalvoice.ca/). I know at least one person who works at both the tech support and billing departments because I reached the same person when calling for different departments. Because this company is in a foreign country, my credit card company charged me a 3% foreign transaction fee for the amount they charged me.

Their phone service also has very limited features. I missed the ‘block anonymous calls’ and ‘Do not Disturb’ features from my previous company. With the features that they do have, the caller ID does not show names and message light does not blink.

In my opinion this company is not ready for the prime time. As a phone company, they can not provide the basic free of problems service to their customers. They don’t have enough staff to properly serve their customers. Their service features are very limited compared with other internet phone companies. I would not recommend them to anyone.

p.s. The tech support manager promised to refund my shipping costs earlier because all the problems I was having. But when I actually decided to leave the company and asked for the refund, he ignored all my calls and emails. After a month of repeated contact with the company (I had to contact their sales to reach their administration), they finally agreed to refund my shipping but they refunded only the shipping from the company to my home but did not refund the shipping from my home back to them.

Absolutely Great!

I just wanted to make sure I got out here and gave my kudos to HyperDog Digital! They have been great and have helped make our transition to VoIP a breeze. Their customer service is top notch and our call quality has been great! Keep up the good work!

No Problems

My grandson got this for me to keep in touch with the family.  I'm fairly computer stupid but know how to get around well enough.  So far I have been very impressed with this service.  I was very skeptical about internet phone service but these guys made it real easy.  Support was very responsive and patient with me.  It's helps alot when alot of our family is out of town and we make so many long distance calls.

HyperDigitalDog VOIP

The Linksys adapter arrived in about 8 days. FedEx from Canada to Georgia by standard delivery mode.I subscribed to the service but had to wait for the adapter to arrive to start using it. The long distance funtion was not activated until I contacted support be email. It was activated the next day. We could only make local or toll free calls until activated.The sound quality is generally good. I have experienced problems where the sound from my phone was not being transmitted for some reason on a number of calls. When the sound is not transmitted you can hear the other party but they cannot hear you. I have contacted support and requested assistance two days ago and have not received a response. I need to see whether this problem can be fixed or I will have to cancel the service. I want the full thirty days to evaluate the service to see whether it is worth keeping on a monthly basis. This is a highly rated service so I am not certain if my problem is unusual or other people accept these problems as being normal.I had a somewhat worse problem along the same lines with MagicJack. In their case it is too unreliable to use as our only phone line.

Great So Far!

Pros:

Price, Support, overall good communication

Cons:

Wish they shipped outside the US/Canada, but I was able to work around this.

I sent emails out to about 8 different VoIP companies with a list of questions.  Some didn't get back to me at all, most took over two days.  HyperDog Digital not only got back to me and answered all my questions, but they did it within a few hours!  I've only had the service for about a month now but so far I am very satisfied.  Support, Sales, all have gotten back to me quickly!  Highly recommend.

Mediocre Phone Service

I have had the service for 2 month's now. I have to reset my adapter about once a week.  Have already changed out the adapter once hoping my issue's would stop. Still same issue's. Have had issue's when I pick up the phone and when I dial I wil just get a fast busy before I ever finish dialing the number. I also have had people hear me talking, but I can not hear them. I also have had the problem where I can not get incoming calls, they either dont ring or go right to voicemail.I have been working with tech support and they  have changed my number once already. They have set my router firewall to off (leaving all my PC's open to the internet), they have tried port forwarding, they are now moving me to a new server in thier office. I'm waiting to see what happens now. Every ticket I have opened they have to reload the config for the voip adapter which seems to work about 50% of the time.Will update this pst when more info after this ticket is closed.

Excellent Savings

 We have been a customer of  Hyperdog Digital for 2 years, after switching from Packet 8. What made us switch over is the fact that there is no hidden fees. We shopped around and found that they dont charge State 911 fees, State tax and no network access fees that we were being charged before. After the first year of great service we decided to change our plan and it was free to upgrade. Now we can make unlimited calls in North America and our total bill every month is only 23 dollars!!!  Highly Recommended!!

Great Service!

HyperDog Digital has been a fantastic experience for us.  We had some problems initially and support was very good with helping resolve all our issues.  We especially like the referral program that they offer.  We currently use this for our business but plan on also getting a line for our home as well!  Thumbs up so far!

I'm new to VoIP but HyperDog Digital has worked great for me so far.  Easy to get running and calls sound good.  Would recommend to others.

All Good Here, Again

For some reason my first review isn't showing so let's try this again.....I run a small home business out of my home and VoIP sounded like the best solution for my phone needs.  I have been very pleased with HyperDog thus far.  Customer Service was great and answered all my questions, installation was very easy, and call quality has been great so far!  I bought the Business plan so I could get two lines, one of which I use for faxing...which works great as well.  Overall, great experience.  I'm glad I took the leap to VoIP, and to HyperDog specifically!
