CallCentric Reviews

CallCentric is an internet phone service provider that uses either your computer or a telephone adapter to place calls via the internet. CallCentric allows for free calls to other CallCentric customers and low-rate calls to traditional phones. CallCentric offers VoIP-based broadband phone services for both residential and business users. Their services include all of the essential features, free local numbers, and much more.

Consider the IP Freedom phone service. As long as you are calling another CallCentric customer, with the proper installed software (or an IP-adapted phone), the call is absolutely 100% free. The only downside is that you can’t call anyone on a landline.

What does CallCentric offer?

CallCentric has three different paid calling plans available. The first, Pay Per Call, is an extension of the IP Freedom calling plan. You simply credit a small amount to your account and you can call anywhere in world, at low VoIP rates. That’s it. You only pay for what you use. Calls within the CallCentric network are still free. The second and third plans are the North America Unlimited Plan and the World Select Plan. Both are for a low monthly fee and both offer unlimited calls: North America Unlimited to North America and World Select to 35 countries around the globe. All CallCentric’s plans (even IP Freedom) have wonderful features included, like voicemail, browser management, and more.

Callcentric is a BYOD (bring your own device) VoIP provider.  The SPA3102 has a large technical following for this very capable ATA.  Linksys has been acquired by Cisco, so the documentation for the device is better than ever.  With both FXA and FXS ports on one device it is like a mini-PBX, and at a price of around $60 it is a bargain!  So you plug a cordless phone base into one port, the Line  port goes to the wall jack (if you have local CO dialtone or to a PBX) and the Ethernet goes to your ISP.  The feature set allows you to automatically forward calls to other numbers like cell phones and to restrict use based on passwords.

Inexpensive:  Callcentric provides the possibility of totally free SIP based communications when 911 services are not required.  SIP to SIP calls are free.  Inbound calls  to your Callcentric ATA over landlines are done using DID numbers that can be purchased for as little at  $1.95 / mth on the IP Freedom plan, providing your family and friends with a local number they can use to reach you anywhere in the world that has an Internet connection.Support:  Compared to the Vonage "voice based" customer service, CallCentric's email based responses are superior, as I don't have to wait in a call queue for 20 minutes only to be handed off to a customer service drone that does nothing but read from a script. Quality:  The 29a codec is supported and provides good voice quality.Availability:  In the two years I've been using them their network has only been unavailble once for a period of more than a few hours.Payment:  PayPal makes a great way to do business with this vendor.  You have the option of providing a recurring funding source without providing a credit card number.
I wouldn't complain if they got around to adding &quot;Selective Call Blocking&quot; to their feature set. <img alt="" src="/modules/fckeditor/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/regular_smile.gif" />

I have just spent the last month reviewing several VOIP providers.  I even signed up for many of them only to find that they were not reliable or properly disclosed their billing practices and so I had to cancel them.  I was just about to give up and then I came across callcentric.  This one is by far the most reliable and professional designs I have seen.  Many of the Voip providers have very buggy interfaces and it was very frustrating configuring them.   Callcentric is very intutive with a number of great features.  Their call treatment feature allows you to even schedule the way you handle incomming calls.  You can even have someone send you a fax and callcentric will email it to you.   They have definately thought through the service offering and its simply first class.  Just about the only con is that they don't let you pick your own phone numbers and so you may end up having to port yours over if you have a better one.  Customer service is done by email and so you cannot get immediate results but in the few instances I needed customer service, they were very responsive.   At the end of the day, Callcentirc allowed me to cut my phone bills in half and provided me with a number of additional features that I never had.  A+

We are a video surveillance/POS Integration company with multiple lines.  We are paying about $260/month for 4 lines, so we started using our FiOS connection for voice calls with Callcentric.
So far, the only issues we've had has been misconfiguration on our side using 3CX as our internal PBX and of course our wireless headsets, but that's not Callcentric's fault.
We have asked over 50 customers about the quality of the call and 100% have indicated it's no different than it was before using conventional land line.
Prices are $0.0198 per minute and our bill this month has been less than $48, plus now we have an auto-attendant service along with extensions, music on hold and lots of other features.
I am somewhat disappointed that Callcentric's features aren't as rich as some other companies such as Voicemail to Text/Email, but for now, we can live with $210/month more in our pockets than the phone company's!!!
Our broadband service is 5Mbps downstream, 2Mbps upstream with us doing constant video surveillance monitoring for our customers in addtion to slightly higher than normal Internet traffic.
I'll post additional updates as we use the service more.

--Very low price--Great call quality--Instant access once we bought our initial $5 prepaid minutes--Calling card option--(haven't had to use their service)
--Don't have as many features as Vonage, but who cares!

Callcentric does a great job.  One of the few providers that does not charge a monthly fee for phone service.  They do have a $2.37 emergency 911 recovery fee per month for all users that will require calling outside of their other users.  So, no it is not really free per month.  However for roughly $4.50 per month you can have a phone number and be able to call pretty much anywhere in the world for $.02 per minute.  Most other providers charge you $20 per month just for the service.  Thus for the price difference of $15.50 you can talk for 775 minutes per month.  This is great.  If you don't use the service you don't pay any more than the $4.50 per month.  Call quality is great over the FIOS network.  You also get all of the features that the phone company makes you pay for (eg. call forwarding, caller ID etc).  Billing is easy and customer service is great via email.  No, they don't have a phone based customer service, but they are very responsive to email.  The website is easy to use also.  I can't say enough great things about their service.

Started using callcentric about 4.5 months ago; and I really like them. I had a little trouble getting it setup with my adapter, but callcentric support quickly helped me with the problems I was having and since then everything has been great. Callcentric hasn't had any outages I've noticed and all calls have sounded good. I decided to ditch my landline and replace it with callcentric and I've very satisfied with the results and the large savings every month. I do wish they would provide phone support, but considering my experience with their support so far it hasn't proved to be a problem.

Good support, cheap, reliable

I bough $5 credit for an employee of mine from Callcentric. I only authorize them for $5 credit nothing else. They kept charging me for the following months without my authorization. When I found out about the charges. They blame me with their unauthorized charges
--------------------------
Hello,
We have been updated by our billing department that these funds cannot be refunded. The facts in this case are as follows:
1 - You added funds to your account with a new credit card on January 11th 2008
-----------------------------
Yes I bough $5 credit that is all. Nothing related to future charges etc.

Besides all they have poor service quality + They even do not have a phone# on their site..

For some reason with Callcentric I had ongoing problems. People calling my phone would get a busy signal or no answer. Callcentric at first didn't think calls were coming in because it didn't even make it to their system (i.e. nothing logged even at their end). They told me it was with their carriers lines. They told me it was fixed twice, but still people call and say they've been trying for hours. I have 4 other VOIP lines with different carriers, all work great. I had a second line with callcentric, which seemed to work fine. Unfortunately for me, Callcentric was the line I used for my HOME phone. Quite the hassle. I'm porting the number to another provider since they were unable to resolve it.

Not much good if it doesn't work properly.

The best VoIP provider I ever used. I'm using this service more than 1 year and have no plans to change it. I already recommend this service to all my friends.

This is my first VOIP setup and I am so pleased with the results that I had to write a review. Callcentric's website is very informative and intuitive. They are a BYOD service. They have setup pages for many different devices. Following their instructions, I easily setup my SPA2102 adapter and was up and running. Within a day, I've submitted to have my number ported to them. Their prices are very competitive as well. They let you charge up your account as you need to rather than a monthly bill.

Easy web interface, price, help pages, services, call quality, billing procedures.
