Pros: Cost! Quality! Features!
Cons: Setting up the Service.

Reviewed by: mongofrye (xxx.xxx.123.177)

I have tried VOIP services and non have compared to the price and quality i have gotten from callcentric.

If you set up your system properly, you will have a great, reliable alternative to an expensive land line.

i have had this for 2 years now and have spent less than $120 bucks on this phone service.

If you want to just plug in your phone and go or have a customer service rep hold your hand through the process, this may not be for you. but once it is set up, you will have wonderful service and no other service compares in features. There online support is very fast and thorough in their answers, no cut and paste responses. they actually give you an answer you can use.

Worked at first and then

Pros: Good customer service
Cons: Line quality,connection

Reviewed by: webafella (xxx.xxx.98.241)

Started out well but after a few days, I could not hear the other party or get through. This went on and I kept on topping up my account until I decided to leave them. I would not recommend them but I will say that they have good customer service and support. Their prices are also reasonable.

Pros: Price, features, quality of customer support, reliability, pay-per-call plan.
Cons: Slow number porting.

Reviewed by: DeMan (xxx.xxx.191.158)

I had read a lot about VoIP services before deciding to try CallCentric. My technical abilities are limited but I bought one of their supported devices from Amazon at a much lower price than they were going for on Ebay and took a chance. Setup was not difficult tough a number of changes had to be made, including a code string with customer support provided to enable 7 digit local calling. I kept Verizon for a few months but found CallCentric so reliable that I dropped landlines entirely. I use their pay-per-call plan and the only recurring fees are for my ported home phone # and E911. My average monthly bill totals about $6. My house is old and most rooms are wired for phone, so I connected the adapter to my junction box in the basement (instructions were on line and easy to follow). Now all of the phones in the house (11) wired and cordless work well with the system. A UPS protects me from power outages (none yet). Tech support by email has been precise and excellent. Sound quality is very good except when calling cell phones when it can be spotty at times. Call features are very good and easily accessed as desired from the on line "dashboard". My only complaint is that it took many weeks to port my home number to CallCentric. Other than that, the experience has been very good and I have no plans to ever change.

Great service!

Pros: Great web-site (call treatments are cool, it's like a rules wizard for your phone). Good international rates. Reliable service. Customer service is very responsive.
Cons: Can require a little more technical know-how to set-up. Rate for toll free (800 numbers) calls are annoying.

Reviewed by: cwc3d (xxx.xxx.224.44)

I love Callcentric! The web-site is great, the calls are clear and the pricing is very competitive. Callcentric is a BYOD, which is also nice since you can configure your device how you want it. The biggest minus to Callcentric, is that it can require a higher degree of technical skill/knowledge depending on what you want to do. For example, if you want to be able to do local 7 digit dialing, you need to configure your phone adapter to do this (which can be complicated on some adapters) since Callcentric wants all numbers to be the full country/area code format.

Also, don't like their 800 rates. They charge for 800 number calls at .0088 cents/min. If they would drop that charge, then this service would be perfect.

Callcentric and the Linksys SPA3102 ATA/router

Pros:

Inexpensive:  Callcentric provides the possibility of totally free SIP based communications when 911 services are not required.  SIP to SIP calls are free.  Inbound calls  to your Callcentric ATA over landlines are done using DID numbers that can be purchased for as little at  $1.95 / mth on the IP Freedom plan, providing your family and friends with a local number they can use to reach you anywhere in the world that has an Internet connection.

Support:  Compared to the Vonage "voice based" customer service, CallCentric's email based responses are superior, as I don't have to wait in a call queue for 20 minutes only to be handed off to a customer service drone that does nothing but read from a script.

Quality:  The 29a codec is supported and provides good voice quality.

Availability:  In the two years I've been using them their network has only been unavailble once for a period of more than a few hours.

Payment:  PayPal makes a great way to do business with this vendor.  You have the option of providing a recurring funding source without providing a credit card number.

Cons:

I wouldn't complain if they got around to adding "Selective Call Blocking" to their feature set.

Reviewed by: jac5219 (xxx.xxx.251.91)

Callcentric is a BYOD (bring your own device) VoIP provider.  The SPA3102 has a large technical following for this very capable ATA.  Linksys has been acquired by Cisco, so the documentation for the device is better than ever.  With both FXA and FXS ports on one device it is like a mini-PBX, and at a price of around $60 it is a bargain!  So you plug a cordless phone base into one port, the Line  port goes to the wall jack (if you have local CO dialtone or to a PBX) and the Ethernet goes to your ISP.  The feature set allows you to automatically forward calls to other numbers like cell phones and to restrict use based on passwords.

Pros:

Professional Interface Design

Very Rich Customizable Feature Set (call treatements are great)

Clear Sound Quality

Highly Customizable

Cons:

Customer service works through email / trouble tickets and so you are not able to get an immediate answer if needed, although they are responsive.

Cannot pick you own phone numbers other than area codes

I have just spent the last month reviewing several VOIP providers.  I even signed up for many of them only to find that they were not reliable or properly disclosed their billing practices and so I had to cancel them.  I was just about to give up and then I came across callcentric.  This one is by far the most reliable and professional designs I have seen.  Many of the Voip providers have very buggy interfaces and it was very frustrating configuring them.   Callcentric is very intutive with a number of great features.  Their call treatment feature allows you to even schedule the way you handle incomming calls.  You can even have someone send you a fax and callcentric will email it to you.   They have definately thought through the service offering and its simply first class.  Just about the only con is that they don't let you pick your own phone numbers and so you may end up having to port yours over if you have a better one.  Customer service is done by email and so you cannot get immediate results but in the few instances I needed customer service, they were very responsive.   At the end of the day, Callcentirc allowed me to cut my phone bills in half and provided me with a number of additional features that I never had.  A+

Best VOIP Bar None

Pros:

Price, customer service, ease of use, no per month charge other than for a phone number ($1.95) and E911 recovery ($2.37), call quality

Cons:

 No Phone based customer service

Reviewed by: jfrank

Callcentric does a great job.  One of the few providers that does not charge a monthly fee for phone service.  They do have a $2.37 emergency 911 recovery fee per month for all users that will require calling outside of their other users.  So, no it is not really free per month.  However for roughly $4.50 per month you can have a phone number and be able to call pretty much anywhere in the world for $.02 per minute.  Most other providers charge you $20 per month just for the service.  Thus for the price difference of $15.50 you can talk for 775 minutes per month.  This is great.  If you don't use the service you don't pay any more than the $4.50 per month.  Call quality is great over the FIOS network.  You also get all of the features that the phone company makes you pay for (eg. call forwarding, caller ID etc).  Billing is easy and customer service is great via email.  No, they don't have a phone based customer service, but they are very responsive to email.  The website is easy to use also.  I can't say enough great things about their service.

Liking Callcentric

Pros: Good support, cheap, reliable
Cons: No phone support

Reviewed by: mst3k

Started using callcentric about 4.5 months ago; and I really like them. I had a little trouble getting it setup with my adapter, but callcentric support quickly helped me with the problems I was having and since then everything has been great. Callcentric hasn't had any outages I've noticed and all calls have sounded good. I decided to ditch my landline and replace it with callcentric and I've very satisfied with the results and the large savings every month. I do wish they would provide phone support, but considering my experience with their support so far it hasn't proved to be a problem.
