The price- if they hook your service up right. Heaven be with you should have a service problem!
Service is terrible. If you have any problems with your service and you call the customer service #, all you will get is someone directing you to post your question for help in their forum- where they will likely ignore you. I was unable to get a hold of a manager of any sort, until I told the service rep that I would call once every hour until someone would transfer me. Even then it took over two days. I spent three weeks on the phone with these people, and posted numerous times in their forum requesting them to help fix my very simple problem. I was completely ignored until I finally posted and asked them who I would need to sleep with to get help. Pathetic that I had to go to that level.
We routinely have terrible sound quality, a completely dead line, or get error messages when we try to call certain phone numbers. If you do try their service, do NOT get stuck in the one year plan until you have tried it first. Terrible business ethic.

Don't use VOIP.com service due to the fact when and if you cancel service even on the unlimited package you will be charged over 140 dallors in overage fee's

I never got the chance to try their service. I too came over after Sunrocket's demise just over a year ago. Things were going well, until the equipment arrived. The ATA was left at my door but I came home and found nothing there. Contacted FedEx and they explained that VOIP would need to contact them and they would pay for a replacement. Called them 5 times on different days and was told each time that a service ticket had been generated and that I would be recieving a replacement ATA. That never happened. I called back in Nov, 4 months into my year long contract, only to be told the same thing, that it would be taken care of and a new ATA sent out. So, a year into their service and still no device. I call and explain the situation again, and the billing rep can see all my calls that I placed in my account. So she comes back after a 10 minute hold and says "We'll send you out an ATA and give you a $20 credit." My jaw almost hit the floor. I say "I suggested a year since I'd not had an ATA and called 7 times". She comes back and tells me they can do a $40 credit. Again, unacceptable. So I said forget it and am in the process of having my number ported over to another VoIP servie. While I can't comment on the quality of their service because I never was able to use it, you can get an idea of what it will be like to deal with this company. NOTE: I am not claiming that they OWE me any money as I could have cancelled the service much sooner. This goes to show how much I really needed a home phone :). Its really the point of the whole thing. They must be really hard up for $ if they can't see that I did my part making the calls and giving me a year of what I paid for in advance. Buyer beware . . .

Pitiful, Pitiful. Cust. service ignors your posts. they just keep putting you off until your time is up. Although, one cust. service rep. there was very nice, Shelly.

In three words, one can describe the overall provider VOIP.COM, as poor, poorer and fading.for one year I have had this service, summer of 2007 they were fairly good, but then in October 07, voice mail stopped, stutter tone stopped, caller ID is 000.000.0000 and menu dialing with passwords is not working either. calls are dropped, often scratchy. The general forum is a place to: post a complaint, wait, answer questions, wait, then you hear: "we are working on it..." Martin T. the owner is raking in the money, but not earning it, this company's reps work from their homes, no overhead cost of an office. all on the computer. and many have been charged extra $$ after they cancel.My suggestion, terminate service, Saturday is my exit day along with many others. Teleblend has proved to be a good service because it is the old Sun Rocket system, Lingo is good, but this Boca Raton Voip.com ship is not improving much.

Good price model.
Not reliable and terrible quality. Drops callls, incomplete outbound calls, choppy voice and inconsistent incoming call completion.

I began using VOIP when SunRocket went under. Reliability is extremely poor. I reset the adapter multiple times a week. Sound quality is far worst than a band AM radio station in a storm. Had all sorts of callerID problem and never actually was able to talk to a person. Support fourm not very helpful and not staffed with qualified techs. Price was the lowest at the time and clearly it was worth every penny. I would NOT recommend this provider to replace a traditional landline residential provider. Service maybe appropriate for a student or other non critial use.

I tried these guys after SunRocket went off the air. I had used Vonage, Time Warner, Cox before so I was an experienced VOIP user.voip.com is without a doubt the worst experience I have had regarding getting a dial tone over IP! They could never get it right even after numerous calls, some over an hour long, to "technical" support. THen trying to get any assistance with customer service was a joke as well.If you want to waste your time, money and patience then give them a try. If you want some fun reading go to their forum and read some of the feedback/questions/pleading for help and customer service.Go to voip.com then click on Forums, then click on a topic like ATAs / Home Networks / Routers. There are people up there with 53, 52, 23 separate communications with these bozos! THere is one guy who has posted 123 times!Then click on the forum topic of Billing / Payments to really read some pissed off correspondence!After all of that hassle, you have to cancel and return your equipment to these idiots and of course they say you never sent it and charge you for their galactically crappy equipment. Then you have to contest all of these charges with your credit card company and so on and so on. voip.com? Forget about it! I use Packet 8 now with no issues and rock solid service and support.

I too was a SunRocket customer and loved there service had little problems. I have had many problem with VOIP.com especially when trying to access my companies voice mail and other phone systems. Service is unreliable and the modem in my opinion is cheap. I plan on switching as soon as my contract is up.

I have been with Voip for almost a year now, I also have a phone with Vonage which I love but VOIP is the worst voip I have ever tried. I used to have Sunrocket whose service I liked but they closed so at that time I was desperate to transfer my phone number to another voip company. I wanted the same deal that I had with Sunrocket which was $199 a year and no activation fee and I found Voip, what a horrible mistake! Don't be fooled by their price. Their service is not good at all. I have no use with my home phone number now. It is just very frustrating. First I try to make a call, I don't get through and then I try again and again until I get through and when I finally do the line is choppy, I couldnt understand the person I am talking to and when I get calls the same thing happens. I really don't like this company. The problem is really with VOIP because I have cable internet which is very fast which I also use with my Vonage which I don't have a problem with. This is the worst voip I have ever had.

I have had VOIP.com service now for over 9 months, I paid for one year service but have only been able to use my phone off and on. In the last two weeks, my phone has worked for all of 20 minutes and the only way to get support from them is to use a forum to post my problem. So far I've had two post deleted without any help. You have no way to help other then their forums. They take your money as soon as you sing up and then you wait and pray for it to work. Please don't waste your money and time with them...............Hopefully soon they will have enough complaints that with the BBB and the FCC Go to the bbb.org and see for your self the unsatisfactory record before you try them, I know I wish I did.
