I GOT A MAGIC JACK ABOUT 1 YEAR AGO. I used it for about 6 months before i could convince the wife that paying comcast $42 a month for the phone was a total waste compaired to spending $39 on magic jack for a year. overall the service is good and i have NOT had any problems with it at all. only draw back is i had to change my home phone number, and now i have to leave the computer on all the time. but i get a lot less calls from sales people now.i don't work for magic jack, so this is a real consumer review. i tell all my friends at work that this is a great deal and not to pass it up.

Magic Jack works
Thu, 08/27/2009 - 23:47 — mjicmikeJust bought Magic Jack a few days ago from BestBuy and so far it has worked and sound pretty good according to my family members who I tested out first. I have Comcast with pretty fast and reliable connections. The current PC I am running Magic Jack on has an Intel Quad Core Q6600 CPU, 4gigs DDR2 800 Corsair, built-in Gigabit ethernet, on Windows Home Premium 32bit edition. Following connections speeds were from DSLreports.com: avg Download 8Mbps, max 15Mbps / Upload 2Mbps, max 3Mbps. Have not called long distance yet, but will try this weekend with relatives in New Jersey. Current residence is in Newark, California.
