VOIP SERVICES

VOIP services have changed the way in which companies are handling business.  By being able to make toll free long-distance voice and fax calls by using your IP data network instead of the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), you will enjoy tremendous savings while being able to reach customers, vendors and other employees around the world.

For more than 100 years the only option for voice communication was PSTN.  When a person would make a phone, call a line was dedicated so the caller and receiver could talk.  When this line was being used nothing else could use travel over that particular line.  Interestingly enough that line was comprised of bandwidth that the call did not even come close to using.  Therefore bandwidth was wasted while the call was occurring.

Eventually separate data lines were used so information from the computer could be shared at the same time a phone call or fax was using the PSTN.  Today the way in which technology works has changed dramatically.  With VOIP services, you can use both voice and data using a data network that runs alongside a PBX or any other type of phone equipment.  The voice traffic, or phone call, sits on top of the data network and by using the existing IP infrastructure and hardware, it travels free.

This means that with VOIP services you avoid the high cost of long-distance calling.  If you have a satellite office located on the other side of the world, you can use the VOIP service to make a voice call and pay nothing more than the monthly cost of the service provider.  This means you can run your business far more efficiently.

The VOIP services are perfect for companies that have other offices or that have the need to communicate with people in multiple locations.  By maximizing your network infrastructure you can increate your investments.  For instance VOIP services work for every business, no matter the size.  All that has to happen is for each office to install and configure the VOIP service on their network and immediately calls and faxes and start coming and going.

VOIP services are also excellent for off-net calling.  In other words if you have customers or employees that are not on the IP network, they can dial into a local VOIP service and still make phone calls to any location that is on the VOIP network.  Off-premise extensions are another advantage of VOIP services.  You can literally extend your PBX into other office locations.  All you need to do is connect to VOIP service to the PBX located at the main office and then connect a separate VOIP service at the remote site.

Many tests have been performed over the past few years to see how reliable, safe, flexible and capable VOIP services are.  The results showed that VOIP was an excellent option for delivering toll-quality voice.  Keep in mind that there are still improvements needing to be made, specifically when it comes to some areas of security, but overall, VOIP services will help your business expand while saving you money.
