Republic Wireless - Hands-on

So! Last Wednesday CNET took a look at Republic Wireless' new service released in November. I really hope more phone options come out in the future, as you can only get the Optimus S, currently. Also, a little disappointing about the network-swapping. Still worth checking out.

Using the Optimus is no different than using any smartphone, except that when you're connected to a Wi-Fi hot spot (which Republic wants you to be whenever possible), calls get routed through it--just as they would if you were intentionally using a voice-over-IP app like, say, Skype.
