Lost dial tone occasionally
My adapter lost dial tone occasionally. I have to powercycle my system every time after the dial tone lost. Is there a solution to prevent it happen again? I have cable Internet connection. Phone adapter is linksys SPA 2100 provided by Joiphone. And my adapter is connected thru my Netgear wireless router. I have port forwarding open on port 5060 and router firmware is up-to-date.

This is what can cause your router to drop out. 1. internet drops out for just a bit. 2. power goes out for a sec or so. 3. power surge. a voip router depends on the internet connection. call your internet provider and ask to check your connectiion. do not be afraid to say well my internet dropps out and I want to know why. they will not admit willingly to your connection going down unless you show them you just may know what you are talking about. do a ping test from your pc just go to a command prompt and ping yahoo.com and see what your latency looks like. if your latency is above 100 your internet connection is not good, and needs to be fixed.
