I just tested my VoIP speed and it comes in at 1.69 Mbps down and 195 Kbps up with 95% QOS and 61ms max pause. However, I would like to mention that this test was done while I was in a VoIP call so it no doubt affected the speed. :) What is your Internet connection speed? Goodness, gracious! That's flying...what type of connection or what-not do you have to get such a quick download speed?

You don't get download speeds like that? What speeds do you have? I'm actually using a point-to-multi-point fixed-wireless line-of-site Internet service. :) It is more commonly known as fixed wireless meaning there is an antennae on my roof that isn't mobile.

I bet that antennae would be mobile if I were up there with my baseball bat! :) And I haven't a clue what all that meant, that was a mouthful. Where do you get an Internet service like that? And how much does it cost? Can't complain too much with a 15 dollar a month Verizon DSL...And my speeds are 743kbps downloading and 135kbps uploading...99% QOS though.

Gentlemen, Gentlemen, I hate to see all the fuss. Cable internet connection is where its at. I took the test and had a 1.16 Mbps down and 484kbps up with a 98% QOS score. I have Comcast Cable Internet using a linksys wireless G 2.4 GHz router.

Well, well, well. That's all well and good. But the plot thickens now... I suppose I'll satisfy myself with where I am, paying 32 a month for both internet and phone service (with unlimited long distance within the US and Canada of course). Hopefully the cable prices will come down soon. I like the sound of that 400+ upload speed. Um....what does upload speed help with, exactly? Better listening quality for the receiver of my calls?

$32! Wow, thats a deal. More upload speed allows you to send more data up to a server(s). So if your voip call is taking 90k up and you go send an email you could have some hickups in your call quality while the email is sending. Also, with only 130k up any hickups could push your speeds lower to 70k or 80k upload which would cause your VoIP calls to suffer. Does your DSL provider offer higher upload speeds?

Yes, they offer higher upload speed (nearly 4 times as fast) but for twice the price...just have to determine if its really a need, I suppose.

Measured this morning after some tweaking by VoipYourLife using Comcast cable as Internet Provider near Atlanta and Hawking Switch When: Wed Aug 08 04:54:16 2007 Download: 14363592bps Upload: 2774560bps QOS: 93 RTT: 466ms MaxPause: 450ms Jitter: 3.2 ms Still have intermittent fax capabilities though.

Wow. Blazing. Are you using VoipYourLife then? I'd guess with those speeds that you haven't had any voice quality problems, even while using the internet simultaneously. Am I wrong?

Mine was download - 775kbps, Upload - 1.21mbps, QS - 41%, Jitter - 3.1% and packet loss 0.0% Not sure if that was okay or not.

That's the first time I've seen upload speed being faster than the download speed. Odd. And the Quality of Service is poor. What type of Internet connection were you using when you ran this test?

Hi, is there anyone that could give me a convincing explanation about this weird fact: -I have one DSL modem/router (Fritz-Box WLAN) -Two Computers: 1 MacBookPro 2.2GHz OS 10.5.2 and 1 iBookG4 1.33GHz OS 10.4.11 -Both MACs are connected by ETHERNET cable to the modem. Anytime I run your VoIP Speed Test I get a very different DOWNLOAD result from the two computers. On the fastest MACbookPro I seldom get more than 1.5Mbps/543kbps while on the slower iBook the speed shown is usually more than 3.5Mbps/543kbps. So which one has the correct result? Please note, Upload speed is ALWAYS the same for both but the Download is ALWAYS much much higher on the iBook. In any event, most of the time, I can have a simultaneous Video/Audio conference from both computers either with iChat and/or Skype. "Given your current Internet speeds, we estimate that your Internet connection can support a maximum of 7 simultaneous high quality VoIP connections."
